Noob Player Chapter 8

Shen blinked his eyes a few times to make sure he was not seeing things. He was pretty sure that the starting level was level 1, not level 0, but he was level 0 now.
"A bug?" He muttered by himself while rubbing his eyes.
"There's no way this is a bug, right?" Sky boasted that the game was hosted by four advanced Super Computers to manage the game and all the servers in the world.
Olympus was the main brain, the newest and the most advanced one. Lucifer, Zeus, and Poseidon to help Olympus maintain the game and the server. Of course, Sky still had their people to keep on the watch just in case trouble happened.
The only way to find out was to log out and report the bug if it was a bug. He could not report the bug while he was inside the game. At least, that was what he knew.
"Or maybe it is the game's mechanic?" Shen was not sure about that. From his experiences in his previous game, he would lose fifty percent of his experiences if he died, not a level.
"But even if it's the game's mechanic, it should not lower my level to level 0," Shen was at loss with his current predicament.
"Nah, let's just play it," he gave up thinking about it and looked toward the massive wall. If he wanted to continue grinding, he should go to the same place, but, "They are not waiting for me, right?"
He was talking about the group who hunted and killed him just now. If they were waiting for him, he could not grind his level. Not with a bunch of people hunting him down. He was not that good in the game to fight them all alone.

However, it was not like he had other choices but to try it again. He walked toward the gate, for some reason the guard cast a confused gaze on him as he walked out to the gate. It ticked, he felt the guard recognized him since he went outside earlier. The guard did not stop him as he came out of the city smoothly.
Shen did not see the group outside the wall. He followed the road and he passed the bridge again. Since he did not see the group outside the gate, he lowered his guard down.
"Haha, you still dare to return?" Volt suddenly appeared before him again. He was still streaming based on the icon next to his name above his head, "We will do the dirty work for the others! This is justice for the others too, we will bring justice for them by killing them!"
Shen wanted to scream how it was justice for ganging up against one person. If it was one vs one, he could accept that, but six against one? Justice your head! He wanted to say it aloud to their face. However, he made a wise decision to not waste his breath on them.
He turned around and ran as fast as he could even though he knew that his speed was limited by agility. The group was caught off guard, but the two female archers reacted quickly.
His legs were shot by the arrows. Shen was not expecting the degree of the game's realisticness. In the previous game, even though his legs were shot by arrows, he could still run normally. It was not the case of Tribe Online. As the sting hit his calf, he fell to the ground.
He was about to stand up and run again but the six people quickly caught him. Volt stabbed his spear into his calf, pierced through his leg, and nailed the spear to the ground. Thanks to that, Shen was stuck.

"You can never beat justice, Trash! Hahaha…" Volt was laughing with his friends, but they did not torture him the other three with swords finished him off.
Shen was sent back to the spawn spot. He let out a sigh of regret. That group ruined his first day, at this point, it was hard for him to catch up, 'Should I log out?' He wanted to call it a day and contact his doctor for an appointment to check his right knee instead now. He hoped by the time he returned to the game those a**holes would be gone.
"Nope, that is what they wanted. They wanted me to give up and I will do the opposite instead. Even if I am left behind, it will be the same for them! They are six people while I am alone, they lose more than I do!" He believed so.
Shen was about to head out of the city, but he remembered something. It was his level, he was zeroed before so he wanted to check it now, 'I hope my character is not bugged.'

"What the…" he almost cursed out but managed to hold back.
"This is a bug. I am pretty sure this is a bug, but why the Super Computer does not detect the bug? Is it really the game mechanic?" Shen was flabbergasted by his current predicament.
He checked his status to make sure it did not drop. His status was still the same, not a single drop.
'Wait a minute, if this is a bug, I can exploit the bug,' his eyes shone as he looked at his status. He got five status points by leveling, what happened if his level was minus one? That meant he needed the same amount of EXP to level up to level 0, and level 1, and level 2. However, he got three times the number of status points, so he was basically stronger than a normal level 2 player.
"That's it, it's too early to give up, Shen!" He encouraged himself and headed out of the city. This time he was more careful so the group would not find him.

The Elemental Arena
*A Rational-Adjacent litRPG Survival Series.* The time for the trials has come, pitting the mortal species of the galaxy against one another. By completing challenges, clearing dungeons, and defeating rival species, the players may forge themselves stronger and smarter. But only one species will be declared the winner. Earth has finally qualified... ...and participation is mandatory. A twenty-nine year old data entry clerk works together with a group of internationally diverse players to survive. Learning synergistic skills and using teamwork, can humanity achieve an upset? If they don't, their lives are forfeit. Author's note: Chapters will be anywhere from 6k to 10k in words, varying based on the plot beats instead of specific word counts. Realistic actions and teamwork will be important aspects of my story. I'm trying something a little different in writing a realism focused litRPG, hoping to capture the essence of how real people would react to their situation. People are complex and don't always get along. I don't recommend starting the series expecting wish fulfillment tropes just because it's tagged litRPG. It's a survival story with the game settings on Hell difficulty. The plot hasn't gotten there yet, but in the future of the series I want to recreate my nostalgia of forty person raids on Ragnaros, but with the high stakes of boss battles in Sword Art Online. I also love puzzle rooms so expect one of those each book. Warnings: mild PG-rated language, graphic violence and gore, and graphic medical content.
