Noob Player Chapter 5

After the short welcome, the surrounding changed again. This time, it was a bustling and crowded place instead of a white room. He appeared amidst the crowd that was excited about the game, they were talking about the game, and what they wanted to do later.
Shen looked around and found he was in a big square of a city. The paved floor, the tall buildings to the side, and the sky-high wall to the south were giving off the vibe of medieval European countries. At least, that was what it looked like in a book he had seen before.
He remembered that the starter spawn was a big city of an NPC Kingdom. Just like the name of the game, the main feature of the game was to start your tribe with your friends as an individual or guilds could work together, creating a robust alliance to build a tribe. Yes, even with the tribe feature, Sky did not erase the guilds system.
Of course, a tribe was just a small start. The players could transform the tribe into a city, and then they could make their kingdom or even empire. That was why the motto was "No Quest, but Conquest!"
Again, Sky was not forcing the players to build a tribe, the player could still play however they wanted to. They could be an adventurer just like in the fantasy story. They could open shops to sell anything, making a restaurant, or whatever the player desired to be.
And Shen never planned to build a tribe or something. He just wanted to be a free soul, an adventurer by joining Adventure Guild. He wanted to play alone since his purpose of playing the game was completely different from the others.
He would just ruin their gaming experiences if he played with the others. So he was better off playing alone for that reason. He did not want to even play with his friends, Dale and Ming. He did not want to bring them down with him.

"Alright, alright, what should I do first?" Shen was looking around excitedly, "What is it again, the requirement to be an adventurer?" He read on the official site, there he read the requirement of joining the Adventurer Guild.
"If I am not wrong, I should be at least level 20? And have a class?" There was a long list, but he remembered two main requirements, reaching level 20 and a class, "And I have to pass the test too."
It was not easy as it looked to join the Adventurer Guild. Especially this early stage of the game.
"Nah, I will think about it later. There's no way I can grind my level to meet the requirements before my lunch. I can check again later," Shen shook his head, "So hunting is my priority for now."
He opened his inventory, the inventory was limited to twenty grids for the start. It was not the unlimited inventory but the player could expand their inventory if they wanted to.
Two grids filled with an item, a sword, and two healing potions. He tapped on the sword and the information appeared.

"As expected of something free," Shen then opened his status window.

Race was included in the status window even though they were not given a choice to change their race. Sky announced that the players could not change their race at the start, but the players could change their race in the game later.

As for how to change the race, it was a game secret of course. Sky would not tell them anything about that.
But if one looked carefully, there was no intelligence or wisdom attribute in the window status, no mana as well. Meaning there was no magic in this game.
Yes, no mage class in this game. Sky erased the magic in the game and caused the public to rage at them. The official site was bombarded by the player who loved to play mage as their class. Even the pro e-sport players voiced their protest through their media social accounts.
Sky's response to this was simple, "We are doing for the sake of a new player that will enter the game. We want them to adapt to the new world without magic or mage!"
One of Sky's ambitions, creating a second world. But the response only fueled the protest as it became fiercer. But Sky did not relent with their decision and responded with, "If you don't like the game then don't play!"
The response caused many to be speechless. Because Tribe Online was the only MMORPG game as the other companies closed their server and joined Sky to create Tribe Online.
It was a fun clash between Sky and the players, Shen enjoyed the drama quite a bit, and he was one of the pros of Sky's decision to erase mage class. Magic was the main thing that hindered him to be the fastest in the game. He was easily stopped by the mage, so he was quite joyful when Sky decided to not use the mage.
However, countless theories came up later on. Magic still existed in the game, but the players needed to explore the world to learn about the magic. The reason was that Sky never denied the possibility of magic in the future.
Shen could hear a lot of people still discussing the mage class. Most of them were complaining about the nonexistent magic that made the game not fun to them.
He ignored the people around him as he made his way toward the massive wall. Grinding was his main priority, so he did not want to mingle with the others or made a friend. He just wanted to go straight hunting the mob outside.
As he made his way toward the gate, he heard a voice called, "Yo! Isn't this the infamous Runner!?"
Shen halted his steps and turned toward the voice. A man that looked in his early twenties waved his hand toward him. He furrowed his brows, the voice was unfamiliar and he did not recognize the face too.
He tried to look around, just in case, there was someone with the same IGN as his with an extra number or something. But he was the only one around with the name.
"Yes, you! Do you think someone will use that tainted name?" The man grinned as he came toward him with his group, two males and three females.

How the Stars Turned Red
Announcement as of 05 July 2022: I've been diagnosed with some pretty severe nerve damage in my left arm, rendering me unable to write effectively, and as such this story is on hold until it is healed. I am so sorry, and I promise to get back to writing as soon as possible. In the latter half of the 3rd millennium CE, humanity has spread across the stars, inhabiting close to five-hundred worlds across the Orion Arm. Earth has become irrelevant, a historical has-been. The galactic map is dominated by two mega-factions, both controlling vast amounts of territories either through direct control or through their many allies and treaty signatories. The Kingdom of Aurora is the political and economic hegemon despite consisting of only seven inhabited worlds; their strength lies in the Royal Union, an interstellar commonwealth composing an internal market and a common defence pact. These member worlds are myriad and varied, culturally as well as politically, but they all flock to the same banner. The Independent Systems Alliance, spearheaded by the Republic of Elysium, is the ascendant challenger to Aurora and the Union. A pseudo-federal multi-system polity, the Alliance economy and military is rapidly expanding, but at the cost of effective democratic and meritocratic involvement by its people. However, with two superpowers as this, chafing along a common border, and with a constant clamour of polemics, both sides have become convinced the other is constantly preparing for war and are on the look-out for any perceived weakness in their opponent. The predictable result is a huge arms race and a cold war spreading across the stars, requiring only a spark to set the galaxy aflame. Drawn into this game of high stakes are ordinary men and women, their peaceful lives, hopes, and aspirations swallowed by the vortex of conflict and distrust. This is their story. Cover art by Rhodex Designs (FB). Hope you like long chapters and adjectives. Note: English is not my first language. Another story set in the same universe, written by a good friend

Follow his story as he fend himself off against entire nations as a mere craftsman. ---------- Old Synopsis ---------- Follow the adventures of a young(?) man, who after dying from being run over by a train, finds himself reincarnated into a world of magic, mystical creatures and the all too familiar game mechanics.
