Yang Xinyu seated next to the Chairman and blew a soft whistle. He wanted to get over with the meeting as soon as possible. He looked at the Chairman but he exuded a steely persona, enough to become serious.

The meeting started on time and the Chairman read the documents about the company's performance. He stated how company had grown multiple times with Yang Xinyu at the helm of affairs. He talked about the gross and the net profits. All other board members listened to him with apt attention. Then he stated the purpose of calling the board meeting. "It seems that some people are not happy with Yang Xinyu as the CEO, and they seek his removal," said the Chairman looking directly at Yang Chún qiàn.

But Yang Chún qiàn avoided his glare. She looked at her nephew and smiled at him widely making sure that Yang Xinyu notices that.

"I would like all to use your voting power and decide whether to let Yang Xinyu remain as the company's CEO or not," said the Chairman as if declaring an open war against his wife.

Yang Chún qiàn got up. Before the papers for secret voting could be distributed she said, "What is the point of voting. We all want Yang Xinyu to be replaced because he is incompetent."

"What are your bases for that Mrs. Yang?" asked the Chairman narrowing his eyes at her.

"Yang Xinyu had been ill," said Yang Chún qiàn without even flinching for a second.

Yang Xinyu's jaw dropped. He looked at Wu Lina who was also bewildered at Yang Chún qiàn's statement. How could a mother bring this kind of a thing for her only child? Was she so blinded by her hatred for Wu Lina or was she so egotistic? For Wu Lina, who was carrying her children, it was unthinkable that she could even say anything against her unborn kids. How could this woman be so venomous?

"What kind of illness are you talking about Yang Chún qiàn," shouted the Chairman losing his temper at her audacity.

Yang Chún qiàn maintained her cool and said, "Yang Xinyu had been admitted to the hospital last year for losing control of self after being ditched in love." She smirked and everybody in the board room started laughing. Murmurs about his illness started making rounds.

Yang Xinyu was deeply embarrassed. He looked at Wu Lina again and saw that she was staring at him as if telling him not to lose his temper or feel bad about anything. Wu Lina signaled him with her hands. Secretly she made a heart and smiled. She moved her lips to, 'I am by your side'.

Yang Xinyu felt emotionally strong. Shrugging his embarrassment, he looked up again to face the board members who were still laughing. He could see how his mother had initiated this moment to harass him. She was using psychology to break him first and she had succeeded in her plan until Wu Lina caught up with her.

The Chairman's face grew dark. His eyebrows furrowed and he said in a loud voice pounding the table, "Quiet! We are here to discuss an important affair. You can take your jokes outside the meeting room."

One of member's raised his hand and the mic was given to him. "If that is the case Chairman, why weren't we informed of his illness? Why were we kept in dark? And who looked after the company during the time Yang Xinyu was ill?"

Yet another member voiced, "If Yang Xinyu had been admitted for a simple thing like being ditched in love affairs, then we cannot expect him to handle the company's affairs anymore. He should be removed from his position as soon as possible!"

Wu Lina turned to see that Yang Chún qiàn was indeed having fun making a joke of her son. She had joined the others. Her nephew was sitting quietly through all this. He seemed intelligent, as he wasn't showing any emotion on his face. He was stoic and cold.

Then she looked at Yang Xinyu, who was mustering all his energy to stay calm.

Yang Chún qiàn raised her hand again. This time pointing at Wu Lina she said, "This girl who Yang Xinyu has married is sitting amongst us. You can ask her about the illness Yang Xinyu suffered because she was his nurse during that time."

Everybody stared at Wu Lina, who was frozen to her spot. She felt blood gushing to her face and head. She felt dizzy and had an urge to vomit. She clung to her seat so tightly that her fingernails dug into its cushions. How could a woman be so demeaning to another woman? She had nursed Yang Xinyu back to health and they had fallen in love with each. It was Yang Xinyu who came after her. She was happy just being a nurse and had no intentions other than completing her studies when Yang Xinyu came into her life.

Yang Xinyu and the Chairman were extremely angry. Yang Xinyu tried to get up from his chair to rush to Wu Lina but the Chairman stopped him. The Chairman looked at Wu Lina. He wanted to convey that she should become strong and stand for herself. The board rooms were known for such ruthless scenes.

Wu Lina nodded and calmed herself. She sat back in the chair looking reassured.

When Yang Chún qiàn saw her cold disposition, she tried to attack further, "We request Wu Lina to step up and talk about Yang Xinyu's condition."

But Wu Lina didn't answer, which infuriated Yang Chún qiàn. "Stubborn wife of an ill CEO," she said mocking her to annoy her.

Wu Lina looked at her with murderous expressions and said with icy cold voice, "I am in no obligation to answer your questions, since I am not a member here. I have accompanied my husband as wife of the CEO.

Her smart answer made the father and son smile while Yang Chún qiàn was thrown off balance. She said, "If you will not speak, then we have documents to show the proof!"
