Chapter 972 Someone Terrifying
At times, waiting for someone felt excruciating, which is how it currently was for Miao Chengtang. He had neared the limit of his pain tolerance. If he kept waiting, he was likely going to suffer a nervous breakdown even if his body was able to hold on. As he was about to reach the breaking point, one line from the driver rejuvenated his hope.
“Dr. Wang is here. The clinic is open.”
Great! He was elated. It caused his stomach to feel like it was being torn apart by thousands of bugs. It made it excruciatingly painful for him.
“Quick, help me out of the car,” Miao Chengtang said in a very lethargic tone.
Another car arrived in Lianshan County at that moment. It was the car that had tailed Miao Chengtang from Tianjin. They had lost him at a key moment.
“Where should we be heading now?”
“We’ll wait,” a middle-aged man in the back seat said. He sat in the car and thought for a moment.
“He’s here to get cured. That means he will go to a doctor.”
That’s it!
The two men got out of the car and walked around the place. They asked a few people about something before getting back into the car.
“It’s that village in the mountains.”
“Indeed.”
The car was started again and went off down the streets. It soon was driving along a dirt road.
Inside the village clinic…
“Dr. Wang, I’m sorry to bother you again.” After entering the door Miao Chengtang almost fell to his knees. He was just too weak to stand up straight.
“You again? Another bug curse?” Wang Yao took one look at him and knew what was wrong.
This curse was different from the last one.
“Yeah,” Miao Chengtang hurriedly said.
“What did you do this time?” Wang Yao asked.
“I, ugghh!” Miao Chengtang was just about to say something, but the bugs in his stomach went at him again. The feeling made his stomach churn.
Urgghh, blurrggh.
The urge was intense. It seemed as if he were about to vomit.
Hah!
Wang Yao pressed at the air before him. Miao Chengtang felt as if a warm breeze had swept over him. He felt a gentle force striking his abdomen. That intense discomfort was quickly suppressed for the time being.
This is something indeed.
Although it was not his first time seeing or experiencing that, it was still shocking when it hit him.
“They failed to kill me in their last attempt, so they tried again,” Miao Chengtang said.

“I see that it’s a different curse,” Wang Yao said.
“Indeed. I have a stomachache and diarrhea, and I’ve been throwing up all the time.”
Wang Yao eyed Miao Chengtang and did not rush to treat him.
“Will there be a next time if I treat now?”
“Huh?” Miao Chengtang was baffled.
He speculated that there was likely going to be a next. A car had followed him on his way to the village. He had no idea if those people were already there.
“They probably will,” Miao Chengtang dejectedly said.
“Your illness isn’t caused by something wrong with your body or some bad habits you have,” Wang Yao matter-of-factly said. “It’s due to some bad relationship with some people. In short, you got like this because someone is holding a grudge against you. I’ll look into your condition and save you three times at most, but don’t come to me again after that. It won’t do you any good anyway.”
Miao Chengtang was silent when he heard that.
“The price for this treatment will be the same as the last time you came,” Wang Yao said. “Are you alright with that?”
“I’m fine with that.”
The most important thing was to stay alive. Anything else was a secondary concern.
“Alright, we’ll begin,” Wang Yao said.
“Wait here.”
Wang Yao went to the next room to cook the medicines. There were only three people in the room—Miao Chengtang, the driver, and Su Xiaoxue, who was incredibly pretty.
She heard the entire conversation between them, but she did not interrupt them.
“Good day.”
“Good day.”
“Are you here for treatment too?”
“No, I’m a friend of his,” Su Xiaoxue replied with a smile.
“Umm, yeah, good day. I am curious. Does Dr. Wang have any particular hobbies or anything?” With all that discomfort being temporarily suppressed by that one astonishing move from Wang Yao, Miao Chengtang’s brain had begun to work again after hearing what Su Xiaoxue said.
“Hobbies?” Su Xiaoxue knew what the man was up to.
“I don’t know much in that regard. Sorry.”
“Ah, no problem, thanks,” Miao Chengtang said.
He wondered if the woman really did not know much or if she was just reluctant to tell him.
After a while, Wang Yao brought a bottle of medicine into the room.
“Finish this in two days. Take it twice a day.”
“Umm, right, yeah.”
Miao Chengtang took a big gulp from the bottle per the amount instructed by the doctor. He carefully put the bottle of medicine away. He paid the fee without any anger or resentment, yet he still felt his heart bleeding from the expense.

“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
Pay up, take your medicines, and take care. That was the main exchange between the two men. Miao Chengtang wanted to say more, but he was unable to find the opportunity to do so. They were not familiar with one another, so he did not know what to say.
“I’ll take my leave then.”
“Safe journey.”
“Hah.”
Miao Chengtang did not know if it was a placebo effect at work or that the medicine was just that miraculous, but he felt his body was immediately better.
Not long after stepping out of the clinic, he quickly turned around and went back in.
“Do you need anything else from me?” Wang Yao asked, seeing how the patient had returned.
“Dr. Wang, I might have brought trouble to your door,” Miao Chengtang said.
He realized the problem right after he got out of the clinic. The people from the valley might have followed him all the way to the village. If they found the doctor, they would make trouble for him. He had hesitated a moment before deciding to notify the doctor.
“What kind of trouble?” Wang Yao asked.
“Someone might be following me.”
“Do you mean those from the Valley of Thousands of Medicines?”
“Yeah.”
Wang Yao’s expression instantly changed.
“What?” He was very angry.
Miao Chengtang fell to his knees with a thump.
He sensed a powerful aura washing all over him. It felt a landslide and tsunami happening right before him. It made him shudder in fear and feel helpless. Falling to his knees was a subconscious reaction to all of that.
Sh*t! Sh*t! This is terrifying. Who the hell is he?
That one instant made him feel as if the person in front of him was someone else altogether.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”
The fear in him remained.
“Don’t ever come here again!”
“Yes, yes, yes,” Miao Chengtang seemed to reply subconsciously.
“Get out, now.”
Miao Chengtang left the clinic feeling dazed. He did not even remember how he managed to walk out.
“Mr. Miao, what happened?” The driver was shocked to see him looking so dazed.
“I’m fine. I’m fine.” In his dazed state, Miao Chengtang had only just realized that he was already at the car. He had broken out into a cold sweat.
Wang Yao guy is definitely more than just a very, very good doctor. He must have other astonishing abilities, just like Miao Xihe! He was very sure of it by then.
It has to be so.
A car drove into the village and headed straight for the clinic. The car stopped right in front of the clinic.
“Was he here?” The ones in the car looked up and saw a building with a black roof and white walls. That kind of building was easy to find in a village.
“Now, I want to see just who is it in there and what he is capable of.” One of them got out of the car.
The car Miao Chengtang was in just happened to have turned around and coincidentally was preparing to leave.
That man stood in the middle of the road, getting in that car’s way.
“Hey, what are you doing? Get off the road!” The driver shouted as he looked out of the window.
“What’s going on?”
“Someone is standing in the middle of the road.”
The man in the middle of the road shouted at the car before him, “Miao Chengtang, I know you’re in the car!”
Miao Chengtang felt a chill run down his spine. It was as if he had fallen into an icy cave.
“Miao Zhengnan!”
He was able to see the other man through the windscreen.
He hardly saw that person around back in the village. That other man did not get out of his house much. However, it did not mean that someone was an obscure figure just because they did not get out much. Miao Zhengnan was a famous person in the village. He was very good with the bug curses. The very reason why he hardly went outside was that he spent most of his time researching curses at home.
Miao Chengtang had not expected the village to send someone of that caliber to take him out.
“You!”
“Well, well, well, this is unexpected. There were two different types of curses, yet you lived through it all.” Miao Zhengnan glanced at the clinic.
“I take it there is someone very good in there.”
“It has nothing to do with him,” Miao Chengtang said, raising his voice.
“Nothing to do with him?” Miao Zhengnan asked. “Ha-ha, you can hardly cover your own ass now, yet you’re still concerned for someone else?”
“What are you doing here?”
A young man with a cigarette hanging from his mouth wobbled as he came before the two men. Although he was dangling a cigarette at his mouth, the cigarette was not lit.
“An outsider, eh?”
“Yeah.” Miao Chengtang nodded.
“So, what are you here for?”
“Treatment from Dr. Wang.”

Trailblazer
The story of a man who accidentally wrote another world into existence. Everyone breaks away from their mundane daily life in one way or another. Our protagonist, an unfortunate consequence of circumstance, being no different, often escaped the harsh reality of life by writing stories of an alternate world of swords and magic. Though he recognized the difference between reality and fantasy, he could've never imagined what would happen, when the line between the two blurred as lightning struck down from the skies, and his escapism fantasy became all too real... After he came to, he would soon learn that things in the other world aren't quite as he remembered them to be. The world he wrote of had become but a shadow of its former self. Albeit hesitant at first, he sets off on a quest to find out the secrets behind the Trails, yet even then, he can't help but wonder... Can he really bring his world back to its old glory? —————————— I have never written a story before in my life and now I'm doing so in a language I don't natively speak. Groundbreaking quality is probably not something to be expected, but I do my best to keep things readable. With the necessities out of the way, both constructive criticism and other suggestions are very much welcome, and I'll do my best to take them into account when writing future chapters.

Chronicles of Rathia - The Era of Blood
Welcome to the Chronicles of Rathia. Contained within is a trilogy of stories which are all set in different time periods and with different characters. Each story has its own era from The Era of Blood, The Era of Magic and The Era of Demons. Read along the first in the series which is The Era of Blood where magic is still in an infant stage and where swords can dominate the battle field. In The Era of Blood, you follow along the first main character who had his memories wiped clean except for the most basic things in life. It is up to him to find out how to get his memories back and why they are gone. (If you don't like the story layout or characters, I suggest either just reading through or wait till the next one in the series is being released. With how it's set up, you can enjoy any of the three in the trilogy but of course reading in order will help give a better understanding of the world.)
