959 Dull as Water
“Hello.” The young man’s voice sounded very cold and wooden. There was no emotional color in it.
“I’m sorry, Dr. Wang, that’s what my son is like,” the woman hurriedly said after seeing the situation. “Please don’t take offense.”
“It’s fine.” Wang Yao smiled and waved his hand.
He glanced up and examined the young man in front of him.
The situation was not optimistic.
“It’s not looking good,” Wang Yao bluntly said.
“Can you treat it?”
“I’ll give it a go,” Wang Yao said.
This was his first encounter with such a situation. It was a congenital disease, and it was severe. It was not an acquired disease. The treatment of such diseases required special herbs and methods.
“Let me think.”
Wang Yao closed his eyes and pondered the illness.
In his mind, a large amount of accumulated knowledge was flashing through. He needed to extract useful information from it regarding the disease.
Got it!
His eyes brightened.
“After the new year, bring him to my clinic,” Wang Yao instructed.
“Do we have to wait until after the new year?”
“Yes, I didn’t bring any medicine with me when I came to Jing,” Wang Yao said.
“OK, sure, thank you, thank you.”
The woman was already elated that Wang Yao had agreed to treat her son. She hurriedly promised to come to his clinic. Afraid that she would offend Wang Yao, she didn’t say anything more.
After a short stay, they bid their farewells and left.
“Sir, can you cure his illness?” Su Xiaoxue asked in surprise.
“I want to try,” Wang Yao said with a smile. “I have a certain degree of confidence in my success.”
This was a disease he had never treated, so it was considered a challenge.
“How sure are you?” Song Ruiping softly asked.
“I can’t say for sure, but I am at least 80% sure,” Wang Yao replied.
A general treatment plan had already been thought of, but there were still some things and conditions lacking.

“This treatment will take a long time,” Wang Yao said. “He has already waited for so many years. He can wait for a few more days until the new year has passed. We shall see then.”
“Alright.” Song Ruiping nodded.
Originally, the relationship between the Su family and the He family was quite good. If Wang Yao could successfully help treat the He Rui’s illness, the relationship between the two families would be further improved. It was a similar situation to that of the Wu family. Because Wang Yao had treated Old Master Wu’s disease, the relationship between the Wu family and the Su family was very good. They had given ample support for the Su family regarding some matters.
Wang Yao had been there for six days. He had even spent New Year’s Eve in Jing. The Su family had treated him very well. Su Xianghua had even taken the time to meet with him several times. After all, people at his level were very busy, especially toward the end of the year when matters piled up one after another. Meetings big and small were constantly held.
Thousands of miles away in southern Yunnan, in the Valley of Thousands of Medicine, people were bustling about, preparing for the Spring Festival.
“This is strange. Why haven’t they gone there yet?” Miao Qingfeng stood on the wooden bridge and looked at the Burial of Gods Lake in front of him.
“Maybe there are more things to settle at the end of the year.” Miao Changhong stood beside him, smoking a cigarette.
The relationship between the two of them had become very close since they had gone out on several missions together.
“If they don’t go out, we’ll have to keep on waiting,” Miao Changhong said. “Compared to this, that rascal Miao Chengtang should be living comfortably now.”
“Let’s allow him to celebrate the new year. After all, the chief is busy with something important now.”
It seemed that by the end of the year, everyone was busy.
In He County, several cases had been stalled when it came to Miao Tianchuan. There was no progress. Now that the suspects had been confirmed, they had lost track of their traces. There weren’t any clues regarding their whereabouts.

“It’s time for us to leave too!”
Lu Xiufeng and Yang Guanfeng had returned to the provincial capital. It seemed that this case had come to an end. It was suspended.
“They’re gone.”
“Follow them.”
The two of them did not notice that they had a spy by their side.
“When will you go to Tianjin?”
“I’ll go back to the provincial capital first,” Yang Guanfeng said. “I’ll give some reports on this matter and explain it to the higher-ups. After that, I’ll prepare to go to Tianjin and meet with Miao Chengtang. Somehow, I keep feeling that he has hidden something from us and hasn’t told the truth.”
“Alright, remember to call me so I can go along.”
“You’re going too?”
“Yes, it’s the end of the year. I’ll go out and have a look.” A grin spread across Lu Xiufeng’s face as he said, “There are delicious food, wine, and beauties in Tianjin. It’s a good place!”
They went back to inform the others. They set out for Tianjin the next day.
“They’ve left.”
Miao Qingfeng, who was in the Valley of Thousands of Medicine, told Miao Xihe immediately after receiving the news.
“Ask our men to keep up and take note of their locations.”
“Yes.”
“Don’t rush to attack after you’ve confirmed their positions,” Miao Xihe said.
“Understood.”
“Alright, it’s been a hard time for you, so have a good rest,” Miao Xihe said. “Although it’s important to finish your work, your cultivation is more important. Don’t neglect and forget what I taught you. You haven’t taken a medicinal bath in some days, right?”
“Yes, it has been some days since the last one.”
“I’ve changed the recipe. It’s better to take a few petals of Blood Orchids as well.”
“I see.”
Miao Qingfeng bid his farewell and left.
Cough! Cough! Cough! Miao Xihe coughed a few times.
Mmm, he softly sighed.
In Jing, the weather was gloomy. After a few snowflakes drifted from the sky, it stopped snowing.
“The weather here isn’t very pleasant,” Wang Yao said as he looked up at the gloomy and gray sky.
“Don’t you like it, Sir?”
“Well, I’m used to being on the mountain,” Wang Yao said with a smile. “I’m not quite used to it.”
“Shall we go?”
“Sure.”
This time, Su Xiaoxue had decided to go to Wang Yao’s village to celebrate the new year. Her parents didn’t have much to say regarding this matter. They had just told her to pay more attention to her health. They also told Wang Yao to take good care of her. Later, Song Ruiping had spoken to Wang Yao alone for a while. Wang Yao persuaded Su Xiaoxue to stay with her parents for the new year. Her brother, Su Zhixing, could not come back because of the army’s regulations. There was no one to accompany her family, so the house would appear a little cold and empty.
Su Xiaoxue thought about it and nodded.
“I’ll pick you up after the new year.”
“Alright.”
As the plane roared into the sky, Su Xiaoxue’s gaze followed it. She was reluctant to part with him.
“Lao Su, do you think our Xiaoxue will suffer any losses?”
“What losses?” Su Xianghua asked with a smile. “I think Xiao Yao is very good. He has abilities, a good character, and doesn’t fight or cause trouble. He’s a perfect match for Xiaoxue.”
“Well, you!” Song Ruiping smiled and shook her head.
As they spoke, they saw their daughter coming in from outside. She looked quite lost.
“What’s the matter, Xiaoxue, can’t bear to part with him?”
Su Xiaoxue nodded and slightly blushed.
“Didn’t he say that he’ll come back after the lunar new year? It’s just a matter of a few days.”
The new year had just passed. It would be the Spring Festival in a few days.
“Come, have an apple,” Su Xianghua said. “How can that mountain of his bear so many fruits in this season?”

The Many Blades of Wuxia
Hundreds of years after the Heretic wars ended, life has returned to its blissful ignorant state that only peace could bring. Whilst the never-ending war between Man, Beast and Mutant rages on, most are not even aware of a war that happened between men. Its prophecies shattered, their remnants surviving only in obscure bard tales. One is about to grow. On the cracked face of the world, Essence storms and Beast Waves keep the citizenry locked atop the Emperor city of Qaelang. Knowledge of the past is as rare as the metals that flow into the hands of Sacred Artists and at the root of it all are whispers of a malignant force, ancient and terrible. Holding humanity back from achieving greatness, but hiding too are secrets best left untouched. Balance, discipline and order have held Qaelang secure since time immemorial, the powers within claiming to adhere to them. None are more fearful of change than the ones with the most to lose, but change is coming. Blade of Wuxia is a long character-focused epic fantasy with progression and growth. It's about a boy's quest to become powerful enough to save those he cares most for and give them a better life. It's set in a world of hidden pasts and uncovering them will set him on a path that shakes the Empire. As this is a rewrite that took on a wildly different spin, reviews are most welcome and help me do better. What can the reader expect? A Wuxia society set in a High fantasy world. People are only doing what they know and may have mistaken beliefs. A clever resourceful protagonist with human flaws A far-reaching hidden fantasy world, rich in history. Multiple points of view are used to follow the story to its natural conclusions, not every NPC has all the answers, but there is one MC in this book. Progression will take time and sometimes even unknowingly. MC is not trained in the ways and knowledge must be tempered against experimentation. Release Schedule. 2 chapters a week, family and work permitting. Only if I'm happy with the chapter will I release it. That being said I am open to revision should an articulated critical response show merit. This story is not completed yet but I do have a general idea of what the end looks like for both MC's (yes both) Ultimately feedback will be most influential on the progression of release as it's you guys I'm looking to entertain. Expected Changes None really, I'm writing as I go and have a path planned for 6 books Chapter release rate might change if we take off and feedback starts flowing, but for now, it is just about making sure Arcs flow smoothly onto the next. Cover, yes absolutely! If there is enough interest I will open a Patreon account and use the first proceeds to commission an EPIC cover and hopefully a few scary artworks of our brave Cultivators and the foes they face.
