958 The Glass Man
That same day, the plane arrived in Jing.
The weather in Jing was not particularly sunny. It appeared to be a little cloudy, and the air quality was poorer.
In the airport’s arrival hall, there was a slim woman in a light gray windbreaker and sweatpants. Her beautiful eyes were like a painting. She was just standing there, but she had become the brightest existence in the entire hall. Anyone who passed by her, be it men, women, old, and young, spared her more than a few glances. There were eyes of desire, praise, and jealousy, but her eyes were ultimately fixed on the exit. She was waiting for someone. She was waiting for the one she loved.
“Sir.” When she saw her sweetheart, a smile blossomed on her face. At that moment, it was as if flowers bloomed all around her.
“Xiaoxue.” Wang Yao quickly went to her and held Su Xiaoxue in his arms.
“What the heck?”
“That man isn’t even that good looking!”
“Oh, this peony had been planted in the cow dung! The heavens have gone blind!”
“Xiao Li, what do you think girls these days are thinking?”
“Did you come alone?” Wang Yao didn’t spot Chu Lian nearby.
“Yes, I came alone. Let’s go.” Su Xiaoxue happily held Wang Yao’s arm.
“Wait, let me take a look. Yes, you’ve become even more beautiful,” Wang Yao said with a smile.
Su Xiaoxue just smiled.
Mwah. Wang Yao gently planted a kiss on her face. Rosy clouds suddenly flew up to her cheeks.
“They are displaying affection so blatantly! Have they no shame?”
“This is ridiculous!”
The two people affectionately left the airport arrival hall. Su Xiaoxue drove Wang Yao to her home.
The Su family had specially prepared dinner for him, but Su Xianghua was not at home. The chef in charge had prepared Shandong cuisine. He had taken good care of Wang Yao.

During the dinner, Song Ruiping happily chatted about family life with him, such as his parents’ health, family busy, and so on. To be honest, there were not many shared topics between them.
After supper, Wang Yao and Su Xiaoxue were glued to each other. They talked for a long time. Wang Yao went to another smaller part of the house. He wasn’t staying in the Su family house. Although Song Ruiping had invited him to stay, he paid a little more attention to details. After all, he was not the family’s son-in-law yet.
“Sir.” Chen Ying had already prepared a place for him to stay. She was very happy to see Wang Yao.
“I have to trouble you again,” he said.
“You are too polite,” Chen Ying said.
The next morning, Wang Yao got up early. The brother and sister, Chen Ying and Chen Zhou, had gotten up earlier than him. They were practicing in the yard, but the morning air in Jing was not very good. There was haze all around. When they breathed, they felt as if there were tiny particles in their throats and lungs. It was very uncomfortable. Compared with Nanshan Hill, the difference between them was like heaven and earth.
“Sir, it’s time to eat.” Chen Ying quickly prepared a few delicate dishes for breakfast.
“Alright, your cooking skills are getting better and better.” Wang Yao complimented her with a smile.
“Thank you.”
After eating breakfast, he went to the Su family house. Wang Yao and Su Xiaoxue wandered around Jing without a clear destination. It was fine as long as they were together. He had already toured the main scenic spots on his previous trips to Jing.
They didn’t feel tired. They didn’t know how long they had walked, but midday soon arrived. They found a restaurant on the side of the road and ordered a couple of dishes.
“Mmm, it tastes quite good!” Wang Yao remarked after taking a bite of food.

“Is that so?” Su Xiaoxue seldom ate out.
“Shall we have a drink?”
“Yes, let’s.” They both asked for a small bottle of wine.
They ate and drank as they chatted.
Meanwhile, at the Su family residence…
“Sister Zhao, what brings you by for a visit?” Song Ruiping greeted a guest with a smile.
The middle-aged woman was well-maintained but lacked spirit, unlike song Ruiping, who was well spirited and robust.
“Oh, I came to find you for something.”
“Come in. What can I do for you?”
“Do you know about what happened with Xiao Rui?”
“I know. Didn’t he go abroad for treatment? Is he any better?” Song Ruiping asked, but she had probably already guessed the answer based on the woman’s visit.
“No, he’s still in the same state.”
“That’s too bad.” Song Ruiping nodded.
“I’ll tell you the truth,” the woman said. “I heard from others that Xiaoxue’s boyfriend is a very skilled doctor. The old master of the Guo family, the old master of the Wu family, and Xiaoxue’s illnesses have all been cured by him. Can you maybe talk to him and ask him to take a look at our Xiao Rui?”
This was considered a request.
Song Ruiping knew that part when the visitor knocked on her door. It had not been too early or too late. The true purpose of the visit was regarding her future son-in-law of hers.
“Well, I’ll talk to him about it when he comes back.”
“Alright, I’ll wait for your news,” the woman said with a smile.
Wang Yao and Su Xiaoxue came home just before evening, but they wished they could have stayed out longer.
“Xiao Yao, let me talk to you about something.”
“Go ahead, Auntie.”
Song Ruiping filled Wang Yao in on the happenings of that afternoon.
“How old is he? What disease does he have?”
“He’s about 15 years old this year,” Song Ruiping said. “It’s a congenital brittle bone disease. It’s the kind where he gets hurt easily. If he were to fall, he might break his bones. They’re also referred to as glass men.”
“So, it’s that kind of disease.”
Wang Yao knew that this disease was congenital. As the saying went, it had been brought out from the womb. Of all the diseases, congenital diseases were the most difficult ones to treat because their cause originated from the body.
“Xiao Yao, if you want to treat him, please do so,” Song Ruiping said. “If you don’t want to, you don’t have to. You don’t have to be embarrassed.”
“What is the family like?”
Song Ruiping was stunned. She smiled and said, “Their family is quite good.”
“The He family style is very strict.”
“Well, OK. I’ll take a look. Tomorrow, I’ll wait for him in the yard.”
“Alright, that’s settled then,” Song Ruiping said with a smile.
They were all powerful families. If they had come to their residence, that meant they were at their wit’s end. She thought, Hopefully, you’ll be able to help them. This kindness will be remembered in their hearts, and it will be returned. Although the Su family was powerful now, they might encounter some difficulties some time in the future. Therefore, they needed to make more friends and fewer enemies.
The next day, the woman came to the courtyard where Wang Yao was staying in with her son.
He was pushed in a wheelchair for fear of being injured.
This boy’s complexion didn’t look good. The problem was mainly his eyes. They were lifeless and bleak gray.
Perhaps he can no longer see any hope in life.
“Auntie.”
“Xiaoxue, wow, you’re becoming more and more beautiful now that we haven’t seen each other in recent years,” the woman said with a smile.
“Hello, Dr. Wang.”
“Hello.”
“This is my son, He Rui. Xiao Rui, why don’t you greet these people?” The woman bent down to pat her son.

I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
