Chapter 833: Asking for a Child
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
By the time they walked to Su Xiaoxue’s house, it was already past 9 p.m. Wang Yao went in and stayed for a few minutes before leaving.
“Mom, here is some fruit I brought back especially for you,” Su Xiaoxue said. “They were grown by Sir. They’re delicious. Try it. Where is Auntie Lian? Ask her to have to taste too.”
“Your Auntie Lian has something to do tonight,” Song Ruiping said. “Did you have fun this time?”
“Yes I had fun,” Su Xiaoxue said. “I attended the wedding of Wang Yao’s older sister. I was supposed to be a bridesmaid, but I could not become one.”
“Why?” Song Ruiping asked.
“Sir said that I was too beautiful after I put on the gown,” Su Xiaoxue said. “He was afraid that I would be too dazzling and steal the limelight from his sister.”
“Well, my daughter is so beautiful. She must be more beautiful in a gown,” Song Ruiping said with a smile. “I think Wang Yao did right. On the day of marriage, the bride should be the main character.”
“I know, so I didn’t insist on becoming the bridesmaid,” Su Xiaoxue said. “Mom, would you like to taste this fruit?”
“Yes, let’s try it,” Song Ruiping said.
She plucked a grape and placed it into her mouth.
“Mmm, it’s delicious!” She exclaimed. It was sweet, juicy, and delicious. She had never tasted such delicious grapes before. She wanted to have a second one.
“Trying something else,” Su Xiaoxue said.
“Sure,” Song Ruiping said.
According to her past living habits, she would not eat anything at this time of day. This evening was an exception. First, it was her daughter’s kind intentions. She had brought the fruit a long distance. Second, the fruit was delicious.
“They’re delicious, right?” Su Xiaoxue asked.
“Delicious, very delicious,” Song Ruiping said. “I did not expect that in addition to being an expert at treating people, Wang Yao could also plant such delicious fruit. They are so delicious. Could they be planted by his parents?”
“They were planted by Sir,” Su Xiaoxue said. “They’re on top of Nanshan Hill. I picked them with him.”
“Save some for your father and Auntie Lian,” Song Ruiping said.
“You can eat them,” Su Xiaoxue said. “There are more on the hill. Sir said that he will send some over for us regularly in the future.”

“That’s nice. His kindness is rare,” Song Ruiping said.
After chatting with her mother for a while, Su Xiaoxue went back to her room to sleep.
The next morning, Wang Yao went to his second aunt’s house first. He gave her some specialty products from his hometown. He chatted with her for a bit before going to the courtyard. Chen Ying was there.
“Why are you here, Sir?” she asked.
“I came last night to see a patient,” Wang Yao said. “Where is Xiao Zhou?”
“He went to school. Sir, please come in.” Upon seeing that Wang Yao had arrived, Chen Ying was very happy and hurriedly invited him into the house.
“Come and try some of the fruit that I grew on the mountain.” Wang Yao handed her a plastic bag. He hadn’t brought anything much this time, only some fruit and specialty products.
“Thank you, Sir,” Chen Ying said. “Have a seat. I’ll go and wash the fruit.”
She busied herself with brewing tea and washing the fruit.
After eating a Chinese date, Chen Ying’s eyes shone brightly. It was crisp, fragrant, and sweet. “Mmm, delicious!”
“Try them all,” Wang Yao said. “They’re all quite delicious.”
“How long will you be staying for this time, Sir?” Chen Ying asked.
“I’m not sure. Probably around three days,” Wang Yao replied.
“Why don’t you stay a little longer?” Chen Ying asked. “The maple leaves on Xiangshan Mountain are going to turn red soon.”
Xiangshan’s red leaves were famous in the country and abroad. It was one of the “Eight Sceneries of Yan Jing.” Every autumn there would be red maple leaves covering the floors. It was very beautiful, but it was not that season yet. It could only be seen closer to the frost season.
“I can just come back then,” Wang Yao said with a smile. “Oh, I’d like to meet the patient here today. Is that alright?”
“Of course.” Chen Ying replied.
The small courtyard had originally been under the name of the Su family. Although the legal procedures had not yet been completed, Wang Yao was actually one of the masters of the Su family now. This was his family’s courtyard. Strictly speaking, the siblings were just living here to help manage it.
“I’ve been taking care of your room,” Chen Ying said. “You can stay there anytime.”
“OK, thank you,” Wang Yao said.
“You are too polite,” Chen Ying said.

Wang Yao called Song Ruiping and told her that he was ready for the woman to come at any time.
“Alright, I got it,” Song Ruiping said. “I’ll have her go over now.”
They were family, so she could not reject her. Otherwise, Song Ruiping would not be willing to cause trouble for Wang Yao.
Before long, a pale, slim woman in her 30s, accompanied by a well-dressed man, arrived at the courtyard.
“Hello, Dr. Wang,” she said.
“Hello, please take a seat,” Wang Yao said.
He had been looking at the woman since she came into the house. Her face was pale but lacked veins. These were signs of a lack of Qi and blood. Her gaze was dull, and she had bags under her eyes. That was due to poor rest and spirit. She also had dry hair, which indicated unhealthy kidneys, and uneven breath. Her body was in exceptionally poor health.
This woman’s Qi and blood were not flowing smoothly, and her spirit was lacking. Her five internal organs were unstable. That was something that appeared when a serious illness had not recovered. The key problem was that she was not alone. She had a little life in her stomach. The nurture of life required a considerable amount of nutrition, and it needed to be supported by a healthy body. The woman’s physical condition was not good enough to support and nurture life. According to her current situation, sooner or later, the child would face some problems and make the woman’s originally fragile body more vulnerable.
“You are in very poor health,” Wang Yao remarked.
“I know that,” the woman said.
“You shouldn’t want this child at all. If you want one, at least, you should have taken care of your health before having one,” Wang Yao said. To be honest, she was putting her health and life on the line. “According to your current physical condition, this child will probably be lost, and it would make your already weak body worse.”
After hearing this, the woman’s face became paler. She sat there silent for a long time.
“I really want a child, my own child.” Her voice was soft and bitter.
“Come on, I’ll take a look for you,” Wang Yao said.
After taking her pulse, he realized that the problem was even worse.
This is troublesome!
“What’s the matter?” Looking at Wang Yao’s grim face, the woman’s heart grew uneasy.
“Let me think,” he replied.
Judging from her pulse, the child would soon be lost because her health was too poor. She also had experienced two miscarriages, which was the precursor of recurrent spontaneous abortion.
He stared at the couple sitting in front of him, focusing on the woman.
“Why do you want this child so much?” Wang Yao asked.
“My first child died less than a month after birth. I, I…” Tears began to flow out of the woman’s eyes. The man sitting next to her held her hands tightly. He never said a word. From his gaze and actions, he loved the woman beside him very much.
“Do you want to keep this child?” Wang Yao asked.
For the first time, the man spoke loudly. “Yes, I am willing to pay any price.”
“You?” Wang Yao smiled. “If you guys trust me, I will try, but there is a precondition. You should follow my arrangements for everything. If you can ensure that, we will continue. If you can’t do it, please leave.”
“We promise we’ll be able to do that,” the man said.
“Well, from now on, you are not allowed to smoke or drink,” Wang Yao said. “You can’t wear perfume or use any cosmetics. Ah, and you, have you sprayed some on yourself as well?”
“Ah, a little,” the man said.
“To put it simply, avoid strong external stimulation, especially taste-wise,” Wang Yao said. “You should be very sensitive to strong, irritating smells, right?”
“Yes, I am quite sensitive. My nose is very sensitive,” the woman said.
“At home too,” Wang Yao said.
“Alright, I’ll throw away all the scented things at home when I go back,” the man said.
“You will need to take a rest and not walk frequently,” Wang Yao said. “You will need to stay in bed for at least 12 hours every day.”
“Noted.” The man took a pen out of his pocket and wrote the points down one by one.
“The key is to maintain emotional stability,” Wang Yao said. “Your nerves are too tense. You’re too nervous and concerned about this child. That is a problem.”
“I know, but I haven’t had a good rest lately because I’m too worried about this child,” the woman said. “I can’t help but worry about it. It’s impossible to not care!”
After thinking a moment, Wang Yao said, “Wait for a moment. I’ll prepare some medicine for you to it with you.”
“Oh, sure,” the woman said.

Dream Dungeon
Welcome to the dream dungeon. Ely suddenly finds himself in a mysterious dungeon accessed only through sleeping. Many people are drawn into this dream world, confused and mystified. Those in this dungeon must kill monsters to survive; maybe even each other. Join Ely as he struggles to survive a ruthless environment. What replaces his rest is untold trauma. What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
