Chapter 813: The Medicine Worked like a Charm
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
“So fast?” The two attending doctors could not help but ask, “Is that all?”
“His life has been saved, so restorative treatment is needed next,” Wang Yao said.
“How can it be so simple?” a doctor asked.
Wang Yao smiled lightly. It was indeed that simple. His medicine worked like a charm.
“I will come back tomorrow,” he said.
“Ok, accommodations have been arranged for you,” Mu Chengzhou said. “Please follow me.”
Mu Chengzhou and the others led Wang Yao out of the hospital.
“Director, who is that young man?” a doctor asked.
“I don’t know,” the director said. “He is a highly skilled expert they invited.”
“I think I know who he is,” said an older doctor.
“Oh?” The others were a bit surprised.
“I heard that a few soldiers had come back from the border with serious injuries and were sent directly to the hospital in Jing,” the old doctor said. “At that time, the hospital in Jing could not help them. They invited a doctor to treat them. He pulled them back from death. That doctor was also very young and is probably the one we just met.”
“Did you hear it from your friend?” the director asked.
“Yes,” the old doctor replied.
“Pay attention and track and observe the physical condition of the soldiers when we are on duty this evening,” the director said. “Judging from his looks, he seems to be quite confident!”
After coming out of the hospital, Su Zhixing asked, “Brother-in-law, we have not had dinner yet, so shall we find a place to eat?”
“It is already so late, so there is no need,” Wang Yao replied.
It was nearly 1 a.m. Eating so late would take a toll on the body.
“Alright, I have already arranged your accommodation for you,” Su Zhixing said.
The place prepared for Wang Yao was a military unit hostel in the city. It was only for internal use. It was close to him, and the service was good.
“Tonight, we will stay there together,” Su Zhixing said. “Tomorrow, we will go visit the three of them.”
“Sure,” Wang Yao replied.
After traveling thousands of miles in a day, Wang Yao did not feel tired. The doctors in the hospital were another story. For the sake of those few soldiers, they had been worried sick and spent significant time and effort on them because their situation had been so critical when they arrived.

After Wang Yao’s special treatment, the military medical staff was still skeptical and uneasy. They went to regularly check on the soldiers and record their physical data. It was obvious that they were constantly improving.
The attending doctor on duty looked at the record in his hand and asked, “Was that really useful?”
“Yes, it works,” the head nurse on duty said.
She had been worried and uneasy about it and had gone to check the records in person.
“Amazing!”
The night was long and passed slowly. In the morning, the sun shone warmly. The three soldiers awoke from their coma.
“They have woken up!” The medical staff on duty hurriedly carried out physical examinations on the soldier.
The results of the examination surprised them. Compared with the results from the previous day, the difference was as huge as the distance between the sky and Earth. One of the men had been in critical condition. It was not exaggerating to say that his life had been hanging on a line. Experts were specially assigned to follow him. Specially organized consultations and treatment plans were devised for him. Only after spending a great deal of effort did they manage to salvage the lives of the three of them, but they still couldn’t ensure the men would survive. The sword of death was still hanging above their heads and could fall at any time.
After the young man arrived and separately treated the three of them, their conditions had all turned from critical to safe and out of danger in one night.
“Is it a coincidence?” a doctor asked.
“No way,” the director said. “If it’s just a coincidence, how could all three be out of danger?”
“Isn’t this too amazing?” a doctor asked.
“Where on earth did such a character come from?” another doctor asked. “How could we have never heard of him before?”
“Maybe he is a genius from some medical family,” the director suggested.
Wang Yao got up early. The breakfast in this hostel was rich and plentiful, as well as tasted good. The hostel was also cleaner and safer than a general hotel.
“What do you think of this place?” Su Zhixing asked with a smile as he drank his millet porridge. “It doesn’t lose to those big hotels, does it?”
“Yes, it is quite good,” Wang Yao replied.
“That is good,” Su Zhixing said. “You are my guest after all.”

After eating, they went to the hospital. The three wounded soldiers had woken up.
This time, the hospital’s medical staff excitedly welcomed their arrival.
“How is their situation?” Su Zhixing asked.
“Your brother-in-law’s treatment was hugely successful and effective,” the director said.
“How are they doing?” Su Zhixing asked.
“They are all very good,” the director said. “They are out of danger.”
“That is good,” Su Zhixing said.
“I will go take a look at them again,” Wang Yao said.
After giving each of the three soldiers a thorough check, he said, “Very good, their lives are no longer in any danger. Restorative therapy and treatment are next.”
Wang Yao calmly turned to the medical staff and said, “Please leave for a moment.”
The doctors were stunned after they heard his request. Their expressions were a bit awkward. They wanted to stay and observe how he had been treating them, but they agreed to his demand.
“We shall not bother you,” the director said.
Only Wang Yao and the patient were left in the entire ward. The first patient had been poisoned by a knife injury. It was easy to treat. The Antidote soup had played its duo role. The soldier was given some again to consolidate the effect, which was followed by a small cup of regathering soup to consolidate the corporeity.
“Thank you,” the soldier weakly said.
“Lie down,” Wang Yao said. “Your task now is to have a good rest.”
“Alright.” The soldier lightly nodded his head.
“Tell me if it hurts anywhere.” Wang Yao began to clear the man’s vein pathways. It was a unique method that promoted blood circulation.
“Hmm?” The soldier’s brows slightly furrowed.
“Where does it feel uncomfortable?” Wang Yao asked.
“My stomach hurts a little,” the soldier said.
“Endure it for a little while,” Wang Yao said.
The soldier’s injury was in his abdomen so that pain was normal. Although he had been detoxified, the veins, muscles, and organs in his abdomen had already been damaged. They needed further conditioning to recover.
“I will give you some other medicine,” Wang Yao said.
He untied the bandage on the soldier’s abdomen. He applied a little connection ointment to the wound. Soon, the ointment penetrated his body and began to take effect.
“Alright, you rest now,” Wang Yao said. “I will see to your other two comrades.”
“Yes, thank you,” the soldier said.
The second soldier had suffered a gunshot wound. His condition was worse than the first one. Because of the gunshot wound, he lost too much blood. His body was very weak. He had surgery to repair the wound. Although Wang Yao had given him a little regather soup the previous night, the effect was very limited.
“Don’t talk,” Wang Yao said. “Just lie down.”
Upon seeing that Wang Yao had come in alone and was not wearing a doctor’s attire, the soldier was surprised and doubtful.
“I came here to treat you last night,” Wang Yao said.
The soldier had just woken up, so the medical staff had not told him that a young man had rescued him. As he rang the bell, he said, “Just a moment.”
“Do we go in or not?” a doctor asked after hearing the bell.
COMMENT
Wang Yao came out of the ward and told them about the situation. “Come in and explain it to him.”
Upon hearing that the soldier didn’t trust him very much, the attending doctor followed him into the ward and briefly told the soldier about the situation. Mu Chengzhou and Su Zhixing also entered.
The soldier immediately apologized to Wang Yao, “I’m sorry.”
“Your reaction was normal, so there’s no need to apologize,” Wang Yao said.
He reapplied some connection ointment again and gave the soldier a cup of regathering soup. “Alright, have a good rest.”
The third patient’s condition was better than the previous two. Although the poisonous insects were difficult to cure, he had met Wang Yao, who had herbs in his hand to control the poisonous insects. Moreover, the soldier did not lose a lot of blood and had no obvious injuries. After successfully removing most of the poisonous insects in his body, his recovery was the fastest of the three.
After treating the patients, Wang Yao went to talk with the medical staff.
“They’re no longer in danger now, right?” the doctor in charge asked.
“Correct, they just need to rest, and so do you,” Wang Yao said.
“Thank you so much,” the doctor replied. “How long do they have to wait before they can be discharged?”
“The first two probably need about 20 days, and the third one can be discharged in a week,” Wang Yao said.

The Priest of Genes
Meet Seth, acolyte in the Church of Virtue. He’ll be a Priest like his father soon, he just knows it. Sure he didn’t inherit his mother’s preaching power, but he doesn’t mind being the secondary priest at whatever temple he is assigned to. Just as long as he has a library. Meet this genetics textbook. Hmm, that doesn’t belong here. It must have come from somewhere far away, I guess something happened to its owner. I’m sure a studious young man who likes healing could go far with this information, whether he wants to or not. This is my first time really writing anything, so I hope you like it! Please let me know if I make any mistakes; I have a new R&D tech job at a genomics company, so I probably don’t edit as much as some people. I’m shooting for two thousand-ish word chapters released on Sundays, since none of the webnovels I read ever seem to update that day. Underserved Market! Genre is fantasy, possibly progression fantasy. Maybe a tiny bit litRPG if you wait a while and squint really hard, but that’s the most I’m prepared to claim. Hedged my bets on the content warnings, nothing that bad. Cover art from A. W. Gelman

I have been absolutely delighted to see such a positive response to this (On Scribble Hub) and have decided to continue Talo's story. I have several ideas about this and will be twining her story into the novels as I figure it out. I am very much a Pantser so I have no idea how this will play out. I hope you enjoy the ride as we explore these concepts.
