Chapter 719: Asking for Trouble
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
“Ouch.” Hong Nan frowned. He started to feel pain in his stomach again. It was as if numerous small insects were moving and biting inside his stomach. “Move!”
“Sure, I see. You take care,” the young man with him said.
Hong Nan was sweating severely on his head. His body was shaking badly. “Call the doctor!”
“Sure!” The young man who was accompanying him in the hospital quickly ran out to look for a doctor.
A doctor came a moment later.
“I started to have pain in my stomach again,” Hong Nan said as he clenched his teeth. He was in severe pain. It was worse than being stabbed an twisted by a knife. “Give me some painkiller!”
“OK, just a moment.” The doctor went out to get the painkiller and came back a moment later. He was followed by a nurse, who gave Hong Nan the injection.
“Oh dear!” Hong Nan took a big breath of relief.
He thought he would be pain free for a while.
“Hmm!?” The pain suddenly came back. What the hell is going on?
In the past few days, he was constantly in pain almost every day, mainly in his stomach and head. Normally, the pain would disappear after he had taken painkiller, so he could settle for a while. However, the situation was different now. The pain came back almost immediately after he had taken painkiller.
Did they give me the wrong medication?
“Call the doctor!” He was in such horrendous pain that he was like a prawn being throw into the boiling oil. He curled up. The pain in his stomach didn’t get any better. On the contrary, it got worse, like tide water. The pain was intolerable.
The doctor who came to check on him was very surprised. “What’s going on?”
Hong Nan was not supposed to be in severe pain after being injected of painkiller.
“Give him another dose of painkiller,” the doctor said.
The nurse followed the instruction from the doctor, but it still didn’t work.
“Change the medication,” the doctor said.
There were different types of painkillers. A moment later, the nurse injected a different type of painkiller into Hong Nan’s body. However, the pain was still there. He was still screaming in pain on the bed.
“Can you do something? Do something!” Hong Nan shouted.
Apparently, shouting wouldn’t reduce the pain.
“Give him some morphine,” the doctor said.
Despite advanced medical technology, morphine was still the most effective painkiller in the world. Morphine could basically treat any kind of pain. However, it had bad side effects. People could easily become addicted to morphine.

It worked. The pain had gone. Hong Nan was breathing hard. He needed more air.
“I need… I need oxygen,” he said.
“Give him oxygen,” the doctor said.
Meanwhile, in the same building of the same hospital, a patient was screaming in a room.
“Ouch!”
A nurse ran out of the room with a panicked expression on her face. She had blood all over her upper body. A knife was in her right shoulder. She was still bleeding.
“Ting!” Her colleagues immediately came up to help her.
“Take her to the trauma department, be quick,” a nurse said.
“What is going on?” another nurse asked.
“Boss, calm down! Please calm down,” a man in the room said.
Several men were trying to pin a bald guy on the bed in the room.
“No! No! No!” The bald guy were screaming like a maniac.
Suddenly, he took a bite of one of the men’s arm. He bit so hard and didn’t let go.
“Ouch! Stop! It’s so painful! Let me go!” The man tried to take his arm out of the bald guy’s mouth, but the bald guy wouldn’t let him go.
“Break open his mouth!” the man shouted. “Sedate him!”
The medical staff came to give the bald guy an injection, which didn’t immediately stop him.
“Give him another dose,” the doctor said.
The nurse gave him another injection, which finally calmed him down.
“Oh my god,” one of the bald guy’s men said.
“Dear!” The young man who had been bitten rolled up his sleeve to check the wound. He had two sets of tooth print clearly on his arm, and it was bleeding.
“Get your wound treated now! Otherwise, it might get infected,” the doctor said.
“Is his condition contagious?” the young man asked.
“I’m not sure,” the doctor said.
The young man was so anxious that he went to get his wound treated immediately. He didn’t want to be infected and become as crazy as the bald guy.
“Get the paperwork ready and transfer him to the psychiatric ward,” the doctor said.
“OK,” the nurse said.
“Nan, boss has just been transferred to the psychiatric ward,” one of Hong Nan’s men reported.
“Why?” Hong Nan asked.
“He just stabbed a nurse,” the man said.
“Is the nurse dead?” Hong Nan asked.
“No, boss stabbed her in the shoulder,” his man asked.
“That’s good. Boss always gets agitated so easily,” Hong Nan said “I don’t think he’s psychotic. The doctors are useless. Go talk to the doctor in charge. Pay him privately if we have to.”

“OK,” his man said.
“Sh*t!” Hong Nan cursed.
It was Wang Yao who caused him and his brother to end up in the hospital. He had to get revenge. He wanted to give Wang Yao a painful death.
Meanwhile, Wang Yao was on Nanshan hill.
“What? I know, San Xian, I know. I’m just experimenting,” he said.
He took many wild grapes from the hill. Although the wild grapes didn’t look as good as those ones from a vineyard, they tasted good. Wang Yao gave some to his parents to taste and used the rest of them to make wine. He had just learned some wine-making techniques and wanted to try them right away. San Xian was sitting next to him and barked from time to time.
Wang Yao found a lot of information and videos online relating to how to make wine at home. Producing homemade wine didn’t seem to be difficult.
“I’ll just make one barrel first,” Wang Yao asked as he clapped his hands.
Meanwhile, Zhong Liuchuan received a message when he was in his rental house in the village.
He frowned. This is going to be tricky!
He visited Wang Yao after dinner.
“Dr. Wang, can I have a word with you in private?” Zhong Liuchuan asked.
Wang Yao agreed and followed him out. Zhong Liuchuan told Wang Yao what he knew.
“He is paying $5 million to kill me and my family?” Wang Yao asked with surprise.
“Yes, things like this haven’t happened for years,” Zhong Liuchuan said.
“He seems to be very rich,” Wang Yao said.
“He is. The point is a lot of gangsters are poor. That amount is more than enough to make them do anything,” Zhong Liuchuan said.
“Let me think about it,” Wang Yang said after pausing for a moment. “If the two brothers from Hong’s family died suddenly, I guess no one would do the job.”
“Of course, no one can get money from dead people,” Zhong Liuchuan said.
Taking away the firewood from under the cauldron was the fundamental solution
“I have to go out now,” Wang Yao asked.
“I’ll keep your parents safe,” Zhong Liuchuan said.
“Thank you very much,” Wang Yao asked.
“My pleasure,” Zhong Liuchuan said.
Wang Yao was still worried about his family since Zhong Liuchuan was on his own. He made a few calls. One of the calls was to Sun Yunsheng, who was going to send several professional bodyguards to protect his family. Another was made to Zhou Xiong, who was from a family with a Kung Fu background.
“Someone wants to hurt you? I’ll send some people over to the village tonight,” Sun Yunsheng said.
“I’ll come to you tomorrow,” Zhou Xiong said.
The next morning, Sun Yunsheng came with eight professional bodyguards to the village. Zhou Xiong arrived in the afternoon. He came with a thin, young man who had learned Kung Fu from the same teacher. The young man was also from the same village as Zhou Xiong. His name was Zhou Anxin.
“Thank you very much for coming. Please try not to let my parents know,” Wang Yao said.
“Not a problem,” Sun Yunsheng said.
“Are you gonna visit northeast?” Zhou Xiong asked.
“Yes, I am going to visit Hong Nan and his brother’s hometown to get some useful information,” Wang Yao said.
“I can arrange someone to go with you or just run some errands for you. He is quite familiar with the northeast,” Sun Yunsheng said.
“Sounds good,” Wang Yao said.
However, he didn’t expect that Sun Yunsheng was talking about Hao, the guy with no facial expression.
“Hello, Dr. Wang,” said Hao, whose voice was as stiff as his face.
Wang Yao and Hao arrived at Hong Nan and Hong Wen’s hometown that night. It was the town the two had started to become rich in, Dengzhou.
It was busy at night in Dengzhou. The place was on the coast, so it was nice and cool, even in summer.
Hao was very efficient.
“Dr. Wang, I’ve booked a hotel and contacted someone who knows Hong Nan and Hong Wen,” Hao said.
“I want to talk to the person first,” Wang Yao said.
“OK,” Hao said.
Thirty minutes later, in a cafe, a guy wearing a big golden necklace with a beaded stream in his hand came in front of Wang Yao and Hao.
“Hao, long time no see!” The guy was very happy to see Hao. Apparently, they had known each other for a long time.
“Please take a seat, Dr. Wang. Allow me to introduce Li Chengwei to you. He is one of my friends,” Hao said.
“Just call me Chengwei,” Li Chengwei said.
“OK. I want to ask you something,” Wang Yao said.
“Sure, go ahead,” Li Chengwei said.
“We know to know everything about Hong Nan and Hong Wen,” Hao said.
“Those two? I see. Have they offended you?” Li Chengwei asked.
“Not really, I just want to know their background,” Hao said.
Li Chengwei immediately got what Hao meant.
“They are quite well-known in Dengzhou. They do whatever they want. A lot of people are watching them,” Li Chengwei said.

Dreams or Another World - Not a Zero (Update 09/19/21)
(Updated 09/19/21) Hello and welcome. If you made it this far and the book title sounds interesting, I'm hoping you'll read a few chapters. Here's a sample from chapter 1 of "Dreams or Another World - Not a Zero."Slowly starting to wake up, I become aware. It's like coming out of a fog.Head hurts.Body hurts. There's a conversation in the room. This isn't my bed. Someone is touching my arm. I crack my eyes to look. She doesn't notice. Is she praying for me? Her hands do feel good…do feel... Slipping back unconscious, my eyes slowly close. I didn't notice the soft green glow under Jenn’s hands.*******************"It does look like he saved them or at least stalled them long enough for us to get there." says the man dressed more like a park ranger than an officer of the law. "I did think he was part of it at first" he continues "but the evidence shows he wasn't there and they were certainly fighting on that back road where we found them""I don't care who he is." says a woman as she enters the room. "He saved and protected my Jenn. I will make sure there's not a mark or a scar on him before he leaves". As she continues the few steps over to the men speaking, even though dressed simply in common clothes, there is no doubt the race of elves is in her heritage. The grace and lines of her form. The elegance and lightness of her step. She glances at her daughter, still watching over the young man in the bed. "Do we know who he is yet?" she asks no one in particular."Not yet dear" a man in a white coat responds. A handsome middle-aged man. Fit, but not that of a fighter or ranger. "I asked Talon to bring another identification stone with him. I was hoping ours was just broke, but it's reading the same.""What do you think is wrong?" Talon asks."I'm thinking we just have to wait until he recovers. I have heard of cases where the stone didn't work. Powerful spells can hide or wipe a person clean. I doubt he's a spy or a criminal. Spells like that are just too high level if, they're used at all. My best guess is, there is just some disconnect with him being unconscious. When he wakes, we can ask him or use the stone again then."I find myself waking up in a hospital bed. The attending Doctor finds it odd that he cannot identify my class. An Officer says I’m a Hero for saving a girl from being kidnapped, but he’s asking too many questions for my liking. I know an accusing tone when I hear it. I don’t remember any of it and I need to find my way home.Author’s notes. Original work. First draft and update of chapters 1-16. Inspired by various fantasy games and books. Written with a focus on character development and interaction. Combat, progression, leveling, classes, but no numbers or stats. I’ll try to keep the language clean, PG-13, no smut. I’m in the US, writing in English. Almost fifty chapters are completed as I pen this introduction. I intend to complete this story or at least bring it to a proper ending. I have a destination in mind. I find as I write, doors and ideas open, while others close and are discarded. The tentative release schedule will be once a week. I'm new to creating. My apologies now while I learn. I have not settled on a book cover or artwork, still looking for something that fits. Registered & Protected #20VjeKDv2U6nynW6

When hell freezes over
An ancient seal has been broken and a forgotten power returns to the world gradually, upsetting the balance of normality. People used to say "I'll do that when hell freezes over" jokingly, but now that saying holds more weight in a changing world where people have to get used to the unusual. Ancient creatures hidden in the earth stir from their slumber of centuries, and humanity is not prepared for their ancient powers. Can the human race of steel and fire stand against the creatures created by the most ancient of powers? Is the human race pure enough to band together and form a closed fist as they did centuries ago? Find out in this adventure where Jacob starts off on his way on a normal day towards his job. "I get the feeling this story might be one of those 'diamonds in the rough'. The premise is quite solid, there's plenty of room to flesh out the characters. It's quite easy to get into and be engaged by at the moment, imo. I don't know where the story will go from here, but it's off to a good start me thinks." - Xenower Attribution: The cave picture in the book cover is made by Stanislav Sedov and is licensed under CC-BY-SA-2.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/ This picture was modified from the original with an overlaid moon and sea picture to be found at https://www.flickr.com/photos/ssedov/26342569905 The photographer has no affiliation to Tschallacka nor can be held accountable for the use of this picture the way as it is here.
