Chapter 529: The Person Making Too Much Effort Was Untrustworthy
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
“Great!” Wu Tongxing and his brother were thrilled.
Wu Tongxing and Wu Tongrong didn’t go to work that morning. They waited at home for Wang Yao.
Wang Yao got up early. Gu Yuanyuan had cooked him breakfast.
“Thank you,” Wang Yao said.
“You are welcome,” Gu Yuanyuan said.
She didn’t know who this young man was. However, her superior asked her to take care of his daily life and satisfy all his needs. Fortunately, this young man never crossed the line.
“Is there something on your mind?” Wang Yao asked.
He could tell Gu Yuanyuan was often preoccupied. She was like Chen Ying, who looked quite preoccupied at the beginning.
“I’m fine,” Gu Yuanyuan said. In fact, she had something on her mind, but she couldn’t tell him.
“Let me know if there is anything I can help with,” Wang Yao said.
Wang Yao was grateful that Gu Yuanyuan had been looking after him. He felt he owed her a favor. He didn’t like owing people favors.
Gu Yuanyuan hesitated. Should I tell him? Maybe he could help me, but it could bring her big trouble.
“OK, thanks,” she said.
Wang Yao didn’t say much since Gu Yuanyuan didn’t seem to be keen to receive help from him. He didn’t insist.
He left the cottage at 8 a.m. When he arrived at Wu Tongxing’s house, all the family members had been waiting for him.
Wu Tongxing had one brother and two sisters.
“Good morning, Dr. Wang.” Wu Tongxing and his siblings were all convinced of Wang Yao’s extraordinary medical skills. They gave Wang Yao a warm welcome.
“Is Mr. Wu awake?” Wang Yao asked.
“Yes, he looks good,” Wu Tongxing said.
Wang Yao went into the room to see the old man, who looked better. His eyes were also brighter.
“How are you feeling?” Wang Yao asked.
“I feel very well,” the old man said. He noticed a change in his body since yesterday. He had a good sleep the previous night and didn’t suffer from the pain that had tortured him for a long time.
“Let me take a look at you,” Wang Yao said.
“OK,” the old man said.
One night had passed. The effect of the two decoction was still there. The old man felt much better.
Su Xianghua came back home in the morning.

“Li Tongxiu came here yesterday,” Song Ruiping said to her husband.
“Em, for what?” Su Xianghua asked.
“A marriage proposal,” Song Ruiping said.
“Marriage proposal?” Su Xianghua stopped what he was doing and frowned. “Xiaoxue?”
“Yes,” Song Ruiping said.
Su Xianghua kept silent for a moment. “Have you told Xiaoxue about it?”
“Not yet,” Song Ruiping said.
“Guo Zhenghe is a clever young man, but he’s too cunning. He looks nice and gentle, but he is actually quite scheming. I don’t think he suits Xiaoxue,” Su Xianghua said.
He had already discussed this with his wife. He knew Guo Zhenghe was interested in his daughter, so he had observed Guo Zhenghe, who was the third generation of his family, for a while. He found that Guo Zhenghe was capable, clever, and scheming. These characters could lead to a successful career, especially since Guo Zhenghe was still young. Su Xianghua didn’t think he could have reached Guo Zhenghe’s level when he was in his 20s. However, he didn’t think those characters would lead to a caring husband. He only wanted his daughter to have a stable life, especially since she had suffered from a horrible disease. He didn’t want his daughter to be hurt.
When standing above the crowd, being stable was the most important thing.
“I agree with you. So, I didn’t accept her proposal,” Song Ruiping said.
“Xiaoxue’s feeling about him is the key. Does Guo Zhenghe still come here often?” Su Xianghua asked.
“Yes. But, our baby girl seems to be in love with someone,” Song Ruiping said.
“Really? Who is she in love with?” Su Xianghua asked.
“You are busy working every day. What do you know? But, you know him,” Song Ruiping said.
“Really?” Su Xianghua asked.
“Yes, Dr. Wang,” Song Ruiping said.
“Who?” Su Xianghua asked with surprise.
“Wang Yao,” Song Ruiping said.
Su Xianghua kept silent for a while. “He is not a bad person. But…”
“He’s not an equal match, right?” Song Ruiping said.
Properly matched marriage was important to many parents, especially from prestigious families.
“Yes,” Su Xianghua said.
“Tell you what, I’m afraid he is not interested in your daughter at all,” Song Ruiping said.
“What?” Su Xianghua asked.
“Never mind. Let’s not talk about this. Dr. Wang is currently in Beijing. He came here yesterday. You have no idea how happy your daughter was to see him,” Song Ruiping said.

“He’s staying in our cottage?” Su Xianghua asked.
“No, he came to see Mr. Wu,” Song Ruiping said.
Meanwhile, Wang Yao was treating Mr. Wu. He gave the old man the decoctions to take first. He then gave him an acupuncture treatment. Wang Yao put needles in the acupuncture points between the old man’s chest and abdominal area following the meridians. Finally, he gave the old man a massage.
After the treatment was finished, steam came out of the old man’s head.
“Today’s session is over. I’ll leave the decoction to you. You know how to give him the decoction to take,” Wang Yao said.
Wang Yao left the Regather soup and other decoction to Wu Tongxing.
“OK.” Wu Tongxing put the decoctions away with caution. The decoctions would save his father’s life.
“I’ll leave in the afternoon,” Wang Yao said.
“I’ve arranged the trip for you,” Wu Tongxing said.
“OK, see you in the afternoon,” Wang Yao said.
“Dr. Wang, are you available to have lunch together? We’ve booked a restaurant,” Wu Tongxing said.
“No, thanks. I don’t feel comfortable eating with too many people,” Wang Yao said with a smile.
“Well…” Wu Tongxing awkwardly said.
“See you later,” Wang Yao said as he left the house.
“He’s so arrogant,” a woman in her 40s complained.
“You shut up,” the old man lying on the bed shouted.
“Dad,” the middle-aged woman said.
“Why does he have to have lunch with you guys? Who do you think you are? What have I told you? Don’t think you are superior to other people just because you are my child. Haven’t you seen how those prestigious families fell?” The old man reprimanded his daughter.
“I’m sorry, Dad. Don’t be upset.” The woman immediately apologized. She didn’t want to upset her recovering father.
“You can leave now. Tongrong and Tongxing stay here. I need to talk to you two,” the old man said.
After Wang Yao had left Wu Tongxing’s father’s house, he went to see Chen Ying. They went to the mental institution where Chen Zhou stayed.
“It’s fine to take Chen Zhou home for Chinese New Year. I’ll help you complete all the paperwork required,” the manager of the institution said. She was very cooperative. After all, Chen Ying was a big resource of their income. “The only thing is…”
“Don’t worry, Dr. Zhen. I’ll take full responsibility of my brother during the time he is away from here,” Chen Ying said.
“That’s good,” Dr. Zhen said.
Chen Ying and Wang Yao then drove Chen Zhou back to the cottage.
On the way back, Chen Zhou looked through the car window at the busy city. The skyscrapers were everywhere. The streets were very busy. He felt he hadn’t seen the city for a million years.
After they had returned to the cottage, Wang Yao took out the decoction he brewed for Chen Zhou last night.
“Take this,” Wang Yao said.
“OK,” Chen Zhou said. The decoction tasted mildly bitter.
Thirty minutes after Chen Zhou had taken the decoction, Wang Yao gave him an acupuncture treatment to simulate the points in his head. It was after 1 p.m. by the time the treatment session had finished.
“Avoid external stimulation and force to the head. Try not to have mood swings,” Wang Yao said.
“I see. Thank you, Dr. Wang,” Chen Zhou said.
“You are welcome. I have to go now,” Wang Yao said.
“Would you like to join us for lunch?” Chen Ying asked.
“No, thank you. I have to go back to Lianshan in the afternoon,” Wang Yao said.
He returned to Wu Tongxing’s cottage after saying goodbye to Chen Ying and her brother. Gu Yuanyuan had cooked him lunch. He packed his suitcase after lunch and was ready to leave.
“Mr. Wang.” Gu Yuanyuan came to speak to Wang Yao hesitantly.
“Yes?” Wang Yao asked.
“Can you help me?” Gu Yuanyuan asked.
“What do you want me to help with?” Wang Yao asked.
Gu Yuanyuan told Wang Yao what happened. A young man from Wu Tongxing’s family was interested in her. He wanted her to be his lover. She was not keen and tried to brush him off for some time because she knew what kind of person he was. The young man was not a nice person. His interest in her, a girl with no background, wouldn’t last for long. He would definitely abandon her after a while or trade her for something else. She didn’t want to be his lover. Plus, she was in love with someone else.
“I’ll see what I can do,” Wang Yao said.
He was ready to leave after lunch.
“By the way, you can talk to Chen Ying about this. You should know her,” Wang Yao said.
“Yes, I know her,” Gu Yuanyuan. “Thank you.”

Overgrowth
I never thought I'd be killed by butterflies. But here I am... Edmon Valli was a smuggler, before a freak storm threw him off course and stranded him on a desert island smack in the middle of an uncharted monster zone. Trying his best to survive, or possibly even escape, he stumbles across the find of a lifetime: an unclaimed dungeon crystal. This is a dungeon-ish story, but without reincarnation or transmigration. I started it as a whim for NaNoWriMo so I may drop it any time after that... or I might not. My current plan is to write until I can reach some sort of conclusion and call it 'volume one'. I hope someone enjoys reading it for now! All comments, corrections, and criticism welcome.

The Ordinary Life of Tom Nobody
[participant in the 2018 NaNoWriMo Royal Road challenge] The Ordinary Life of Tom Nobody is a LitRPG system story where each person transitions into the system, or SCHEMA as this system is known, innocent and unaware of his former life. Following the tutorial, memories return, but by this point, each person has a better chance of accepting their new world. It also gives them an opportunity to start from scratch, fresh without all the baggage of their former lives dictating their decisions in the early stages of the process. I don’t expect this will necessarily turn into an action-packed heroic tale, my intent is to create a character who wants to have just an ordinary, but reasonably comfortable life. I don’t know myself how well he will succeed, there may be twists and Tom may discover some heroism hidden deep inside. I guess we’ll find out together. This is my first writing attempt. I’ve wanted to write all my life, but I’ve never been able to develop the proper discipline to put in the work. I hope I complete the challenge and work my way past this hump. I am writing this as part of the NaNoWriMo Royal Road Challenge. While I will try to self-edit as I go, the challenge requires close to 2,000 words a day, so parts of the story may be rough, and things like plot lines may not make as much sense as any of us would like. If all goes well, and I complete the challenge, I plan on going back through everything and trying to polish it up. In the meanwhile, thank you for reading and I hope I don’t disappoint.

Our Shattered Realms
*This is a learning experience for me so please keep in mind that I am attempting to work on some of the issues brought to my attention early on. However I haven't yet gone back to redo the early chapters.* Less than two days ago every piece of electronics in the world stopped working for more than two hours. The death toll was immense. Hospital equipment failed, cars stopped in the middle of the street, planes fell from the sky, and homework was lost at the worst possible moment. We found out that it was just the flicker and hum of The System warming up. Now we see the true cost of our new world. A Dark comedy that focuses on a few of the many people who aren't stuck in a high level dungeon when our world is translated and joined to Our Shattered Realms. This is my first story that I have published. I welcome any criticism that you have for me. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy!
