Chapter 447: Where There Was a Soft Mother, There Was a Useless SonTranslator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
“What a fantastic trip!” said Tian Yuantu in the car.
He thought the trip was more meaningful than signing a multi-million dollar contract, especially when he saw how the kids were so happy. The satisfaction he gained through charity and business was totally different.
“Shall we come back in the future?” said Tian Yuantu.
“Sure,” said Wei Hai.
He was looking at the photos of students on his phone. The students in the photos were wearing new clothes. They all had bright smiles on their faces.
What lovely kids!
. . .
Meanwhile, somewhere in Qi province, a skinny young man was kneeling on the ground. His body was shaking. There was a red handprint on his face.
Two people were standing next to him. One was holding a rolling pin. His face turned red due to agitation. The other one was holding the young man’s hand. They were the young man’s parents.
“You, you! How did you become a drug addict?” asked the young man’s father.
Pah! He threw the rolling pin onto the ground. The rolling pin broke into two parts. He put his hand on his chest, then slowly fell into a chair. His face was distorted.
“Dad! Dad!” cried the skinny young man.
“Hubby!” said his mother.
The two of them went to fetch the medication and water immediately. It took a while for the middle-aged man to feel better.
“I’m sorry, Dad, I’m so sorry!” cried the skinny young man.
“Alas! How did I come to have such a useless son!” said the middle-aged man with a big sigh.
Although he was angry, he knew it wouldn’t make any difference to punish his son. He needed to help his son get clean. After all, the young man was his own child.
“You should go to the rehabilitation center,” said the middle-aged man after thinking for a while.
“Rehabilitation center?” said the middle-aged woman in shock. “No, my baby cannot stay in that horrible place. He won’t survive.”
“Shut up! It was all because of you! You spoiled him, so of course, he ended up being an addict!” shouted the middle-aged man in anger. He was agitated, and he started to look terrible again.
“Please don’t be mad at me,” said his wife immediately. She was already upset about her son. She wouldn’t allow anything to happen to her husband. Otherwise, her family would be in turmoil.
“Dad, I know a doctor, one who can help me get clean,” said the skinny young man.
“A doctor who can help you get clean?” His apparently didn’t believe what he said. “Where did you get this idea? If so, what are the rehabilitation center for?”

“It’s true, the doctor stopped Honglin’s withdrawal symptoms easily. I witnessed it,” said the skinny young man.
“Sun Honglin? How many times have I told you? Don’t hang out with Sun Honglin. Why don’t you listen to me? Who else have you been hanging out with? He Xiaofeng?” asked his father.
“Yes,” said the skinny young man.
“Neither of them are decent people. Clearly, you have poor taste in friends,” said the middle-aged man with a sigh.
“Darling, our son said that doctor could help them get clean. Shall we give it a try?” asked his wife.
“So you asked me for money a few days ago to pay for the doctor? Why are you still addicted to drugs?” It suddenly occurred to the middle-aged man that his son had asked him for 30 thousand yuan.
“He didn’t treat us,” said the skinny young man.
“Why not?” asked his father.
“Well, because he said we have to bring our family members to his clinic,” said the skinny young man.
“Really?” said his father with surprise.
It suddenly occurred to him that maybe the doctor was reliable.
“Where is the doctor?” asked his father.
“Lianshan,” said the skinny young man.
“Lianshan? Where did you hear about him?” asked his father.
“I heard of him from Xiaofeng. He cured Xiaofeng’s grandma,” said the skinny young man.
“That doctor?” said the middle-aged man with surprise. He had also heard of Wang Yao.
“Yes, you know him?” said the skinny young man.
“Off we go. Let’s go to see him,” said his father.
“But Dad, do you need to rest for a while first?” As a father, the middle-aged man actually cared about his son very much. However, a father’s way of communicating love could be subtle.
“Let’s go. We leave right now,” said the middle-aged man.
They went to Wang Yao’s clinic by car under the direction of the skinny young man. However, they saw the sign sticking on the door of the clinic, which said Wang Yao was away at the moment.
“He is away?”
The three people in the car were surprised.
“Bad timing,” said the middle-aged man. “Has he left you his contact number?”
“Yes, but only the landline of the clinic,” said the skinny young man.
“Since we are here already, maybe we should wait for a bit longer,” suggested his father.
However, Wang Yao didn’t show up because he was still on his way back to Lianshan from Qinzhou.
“It seems he won’t come here today. Let’s go back home,” said the skinny young man’s father.
“Okay,” said the skinny young man.
“Let your mother drive,” said his father.
. . .
It took Wang Yao and his friends three days to drive from Jia County to Lianshan. By the time they had arrived at Lianshan, it was late afternoon. The fours of them had dinner in a restaurant in town, then Wang Yao drove each of his friends home.

Everyone was exhausted after a tedious trip except for Wang Yao
When Wang Yao had arrived at home, it was nearly 9 pm. He went inside as he saw the light was still on. He wanted to tell his parents he was back so that they wouldn’t worry about him.
“Dad! Mom! I’m back. You haven’t gone to bed?” asked Wang Yao.
“No, we heard your car. You should have stayed in a hotel overnight. Try not to drive at night,” said Zhang Xiuying.
“We actually arrived at Lianshan in the afternoon. We had dinner in town,” said Wang Yao.
“I see. Is everything alright?” asked Zhang Xiuying.
“Yes, let me show you the pictures,” said Wang Yao.
He took out his phone and showed his mother photos he took with the children in Jia County.
Zhang Xiuying and Wang Fenghua looked at those pictures happily.
“Look at those kids, they are so lovely,” said Zhang Xiuying.
“Mingbao is still there,” said Wang Yao.
“By the way, several people came to your clinic in the last few days,” said Zhang Xiuying.
“Did they come here?” said Wang Yao as he frowned.
“No, they just parked their cars outside your clinic. They didn’t come here,” said Zhang Xiuying.
“That’s good,” said Wang Yao.
He then gave each of his parents a massage. At the same time, he told them about his trip. By the time he had finished giving them a massage, it was nearly 10 pm.
“I’m going to the hill,” said Wang Yao.
“Okay,” said Zhang Xiuying.
Nanshan Hill was quiet and distant at night.
San Xian heard Wang Yao coming, and ran all the way to the foot of the hill to welcome him. He wagged his tail happily.
“Hi, San Xian,” said Wang Yao.
A person and a dog went up the hill together. A moment later, a pea-sized light appeared on the hill.
. . .
The next morning, Wang Yao left Nanshan Hill early to have breakfast at home. He went to his clinic right after breakfast in case any patients were waiting for him.
As expected, five patients had come to the clinic in the morning. Some of them had a headache, some of them had leg pains. All of them were simple and straightforward conditions which were easy to treat. Wang Yao prescribed a formula for three of those five patients and provided massage therapy to the other two.
He finished all the treatments at 10 am, then he started to take notes on the day.
Ding! His phone on the table rang.
“Hello?Yes…Speaking…Yes, I’m in the clinic this afternoon. I’ll see you later.” Wang Yao hung up the phone.
It was the middle-aged man who called, the father of one of those three drug addicts. He wanted Wang Yao to treat his son and called to make an appointment to come in the afternoon.
Finally, one of them told his family.
The skinny young man and his parents came to the village again in the afternoon.
Wang Yao had been waiting for them.
“Hello, Dr. Wang,” said the skinny young man.
“Hello, please come in,” said Wang Yao.
“Dr. Wang, I suppose you know what’s wrong with my son,” said the skinny young man’s mother.
“Yes,” said Wang Yao.
“Can you help him?” asked the skinny young man’s mother.
“Yes, but I need your support,” said Wang Yao.
“That is not an issue. We will work with you to get our son clean,” said the skinny young man’s mother.
“Good. I want to discuss with you my treatment plan first. I will prescribe a formula to prolong the gap between the symptoms of his withdrawal, until he has no desire for drugs. However, this will be a long process. Make sure you keep a close eye on your son. He is not to touch drugs during this treatment,” said Wang Yao seriously.
“Sure, we’ll do whatever you say,” said the skinny young man’s mother immediately.
Wang Yao had a glance at the mother.
“Frankly speaking, I don’t think you can control your son, but your husband can.” Wang Yao pointed at the middle-aged man sitting next to the woman.
One’s appearance revealed one’s heart. The mother was clearly a soft person, who had been spoiling her son. On the other hand, the father appeared to have more authority.
“However, you have a heart problem. Do you have a history of heart disease?” asked Wang Yao.
“How do you know?” asked the middle-aged man with surprise.
“I can take a look at you, too,” said Wang Yao.
“That would be great,” said the middle-aged man.
“Let’s talk about your son first,” said Wang Yao.
“Okay. I guarantee you that we will keep a close eye on him. I’ve decided to hire someone to watch him 24/7,” said the middle-aged man.
“Okay, I’ll fetch you the formula. wait here,” said Wang Yao.
He had come up with a formula, which contained the detox grass as the dominating herb, and ganoderma and licorice as the supporting herbs.
One of the rooms in the clinic was specifically used to brew decoctions. Soon, the clinic was filled with the smell of herbs.
“Is he brewing a herbal decoction?” The skinny young man’s mother wondered.
