Chapter 418: Call Him SirTranslator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
“Yes, because my uncle got better today,” said Li Maoshuang.
“That’s good,” said Wang Yao.
“And it’s all thanks to you,” said Li Maoshuang.
“Haha,” laughed Wang Yao. He understood what Li Maoshuang meant.
“What did the doctors say? Have they mentioned discharging him again?” asked Wang Yao.
“No. I haven’t heard anything about him being discharged. I don’t think they will try to force us to bring Uncle home at this stage,” said Li Maoshuang.
“Good. Is there anything else you need me to do? If not, I’m leaving for my sister’s workplace,” said Wang Yao.
“Oh, yes, how much does the treatment cost?” asked Li Maoshuang.
He heard it from Wei Hai and Tian Yuantu that Wang Yao’s decoctions were unique and very expensive.
“Don’t worry about the cost for now,” said Wang Yao after thinking it over for a moment.
He had no idea how much he should charge Li Maoshuang’s uncle for the decoction.
The decoction contained a number of invaluable licorice roots.
It was used to treat cancer, which was one of the worst illnesses one could have.
“Okay.” Li Maoshuang didn’t insist.
Wang Yao drove to his sister’s workplace after leaving the hospital.
“Ok, I have a task from Mom,” murmured Wang Yao.
He needed to investigate his future brother-in-law.
After thinking for a moment, Wang Yao decided to pay Wang Mingbao a visit first.
“Hi, how are you doing these days? Why are you in town so often? Has Tong Wei come back?” asked Wang Mingbao.
“No,” said Wang Yao.
Wang Mingbao made Wang Yao a cup of tea.
“When are you going to visit Jia County again?” asked Wang Yao.
“I’m not sure. Miss Han took a week off,” said Wang Mingbao.
“Really? For what?” asked Wang Yao.
“I don’t know. She was not keen to talk about it. It seems that someone in her family is getting married and needs her help. Maybe she’s got other things to do,” said Wang Mingbao.
“I see. Do you know anyone in the Department of Education?” asked Wang Yao.
“Not in the Department of Education. Why do you ask?” said Wang Mingbao.
“Well, I need your help in investigating someone,” said Wang Yao.
“Who is it?” asked Wang Mingbao.
“A person who will potentially become my brother-in-law,” said Wang Yao.
“Your sister’s boyfriend? Why do you want to investigate him?” asked Wang Mingbao.
“Because I want to know what kind of person he is. After all, he’s dating my sister,” said Wang Yao.
“This is easy. I can ask one of my friends to check up on him. Leave it to me. By the way, what’s his name?” asked Wang Mingbao.
“His name is Du Mingyang. By the way, don’t let him find out,” said Wang Yao.
“No problem. This is not my first time doing such a thing,” said Wang Mingbao, smiling.
“Oh, and another thing,” said Wang Yao.
“What?” asked Wang Mingbao.
“Have you ever heard of any new plans for our village?” said Wang Yao.

“What do you mean by plans?” asked Wang Mingbao.
“Urban planning. Like fixing roads, building houses,” said Wang Yao.
“No. Our village is surrounded by hills. There are no resources. Even if the local government wanted to upgrade the roads, they’ll probably do it somewhere else. Why do you ask?” asked Wang Mingbao.
“Nothing, just curious,” said Wang Yao.
“Do you want to have lunch together?” asked Wang Mingbao.
“Not today, I have to go back to the village. I have something to do in the afternoon,” said Wang Yao.
He left Wang Mingbao’s store and drove home. He parked his car outside his house, then walked inside. His mother was busying preparing lunch. His father was not home.
“Lunch is almost ready,” said Zhang Xiuying.
“Okay,” said Wang Yao.
A few minutes after Wang Yao had set up the table, Wang Fenghua came home.
“Yao, I saw a car parking outside your clinic. Can you go and check if someone is waiting for you?” said Wang Fenghua.
“Lunch is ready, eat something first,” said Zhang Xiuying.
“I think Yao should go to the clinic now. Your patients are your priority,” said Wang Fenghua.
“Okay, I’ll go and have a look,” said Wang Yao.
He left home and headed towards south, soon he saw a car parking outside his clinic.
Before he had reached his clinic, someone got out of the car.
“Hello, Dr. Wang, it’s good you are here.”
The person had a medium build. His face was pale. His eyes were dark. His voice was soft.
The person was seriously ill.
It was Lu Xian, who came with Su Changhe a few days ago. His condition was similar to Wei Hai’s. The parasites had gotten into his organs, so it was considered a hard-to-treat condition. Wang Yao had given him sedge to take last time. So far, he’d only had one treatment session.
“Please come in,” said Wang Yao.
He unlocked the door of the clinic and led Lu Xian inside.
“Do you feel better?” asked Wang Yao.
“Yes, much better.” Lu Xian nodded. He felt much better after taking the decoction provided by Wang Yao. He had less pain in his organs. Then he realized that Professor Su was telling the truth, that the young doctor had profound medical skills beyond his years. Therefore he came to Lianshan again to see Wang Yao.
“Can you take a look at me?” asked Lu Xian.
“Sure,” said Wang Yao.
He checked Lu Xian’s pulse.
The decoction he gave Lu Xian definitely worked.
“You also need to change your lifestyle. This is very important,” said Wang Yao.
“I will. I’ve been only eating vegetables lately,” said Lu Xian.
“You don’t have to. You can eat some meat, just not seafood. And make sure you don’t eat too much meat,” said Wang Yao.
“Can I have more of the decoction you gave me last time?” asked Lu Xian.
“Okay, wait a second.” Wang Yao went to a different room to take the decoction from the cabinet of the system. He gave Lu Xian a small proportion of the decoction last time, so he still had some available.

“You can take this decoction back. Take it with the formula I prescribed for you last time,” said Wang Yao.
“Okay, thank you,” said Lu Xian.
That was the entire point of his visit.
“By the way, Dr. Wang, how much should I pay you?” asked Lu Xian.
“One hundred thousand.” Wang Yao lifted one of his fingers.
Licorice roots were priceless. He wouldn’t give them away easily.
“Okay, I’ll pay you now,” said Lu Xian.
This time, Lu Xian made payment without thinking.
He wouldn’t blink his eyes if one hundred thousand yuan could buy his health back.
“Can I leave now?” asked Lu Xian.
“Yes, come back in ten days. I will give you another check up,” said Wang Yao.
“Okay,” said Lu Xian.
After Lu Xian had left the clinic, Wang Yao went home for lunch. His parents had finished lunch. His mother kept his meal in the cooker.
“Has the patient gone?” asked Zhang Xiuying.
“Yes,” said Wang Yao.
“Yao, have you done what I asked you to do?” asked Zhang Xiuying.
“Yes, I’ve asked Mingbao to do some investigating into him. I don’t know anyone from the Department of Education,” said Wang Yao.
“Investigating whom?” asked Wang Fenghua.
“Your future son-in-law,” said Zhang Xiuying.
“The Mr. Du who came by the other day?” asked Wang Fenghua.
“Yeah, him,” said Zhang Xiuying.
“Hmmm, I think he is a nice guy,” said Wang Fenghua.
“So you were easily bought by two bottles of wine and two packs of cigarette,” said Zhang Xiuying.
“It has nothing to do with what he brought here,” said Wang Fenghua.
It was 2 pm when Wang Yao had finished lunch. He went to Nanshan Hill right after lunch.
In the village, Sun Zhengrong’s men had finished demolishing the two old houses and transferred all the construction waste out of the village. The builders had started to dig for the base of the new house. The construction of a new house was in progress.
“Wow, rich people! They are building a new house,” said a villager who passed the construction site.
“What’s so good about building a house here?” said a female villager.
“You don’t understand, a Feng Shui master once said the Feng Shui in our village is really good,” said the other villager.
“How is it good?” asked the female villager.
“Our village is surrounded by hills, and has a river going through,” said the other villager.
“Nonsense! All the villages nearby are better than here. Even Li Family Creek, which was poorer than our village, has a hot spring now. I heard a holiday resort will be built there,” said the female villager.
. . .
Meanwhile, in Beijing, which was thousands of miles away from Lianshan, it started to get cold. People in Beijing started to take out their thick clothes.
Su Xiaoxue was sitting in a wheelchair. She was in the courtyard of her house looking up at the sky.
She was allowed to stay outdoors for some time every day, but not for too long. Because she was still weak. Song Ruiping didn’t want her daughter to catch a cold. Su Xiaoxue preferred to stay outside day and night even though she could get sick. She had enough of staying in her room. She had been in her room for years. She was sick of staying in her bed.
“Ying, do you think I can go to see Mr. Wang given my current condition?” When Su Xiaoxue mentioned Wang Yao, she called him Mr. Wang to show respect.
“I’m afraid you can’t travel that far given your current condition,” said Chen Ying.
She was standing behind Su Xiaoxue. She often came to spend some time with Su Xiaoxue lately. She kept Su Xiaoxue company. They talked, and they often mentioned Wang Yao, a young man who was both mysterious and wonderful.
“You are right. Not now, but I think I can go to see him very soon,” said Su Xiaoxue.
Her smile was beautiful and bright, like the sunshine in spring, like a blooming flower.
Chen Ying smiled.
She really admired Su Xiaoxue, who had been so sick that almost everybody believed she wouldn’t get better. Everybody thought she was dying slowly on her bed. And then Wang Yao appeared. He brought magic back to her life. He tried his best to save her from the Grim Reaper. She got better after every treatment given by Wang Yao. The boils in her body slowly disappeared. She gradually got better.
Wang Yao made her see the light in the dark.
How about Chen Zhou?
Chen Ying also saw some hope. However, her brother’s condition had been getting worse lately.
“Mr. Wang, when will you come back?”
Su Xiaoxue’s eyes were clear and bright.
She continued to take the decoction prescribed by Wang Yao to strengthen corporeity. Of course the decoction alone wouldn’t speed up her recovery. Her internal power was growing at the same time. Her Qi played an important role in her recovery. She had been practicing how to control her Qi using the method Wang Yao taught her. The only thing was that she was unfamiliar with the meridians of human body, so she couldn’t make the best out of her Qi.
Whoo! A gust of wind passed. The trees were rustling.
“It’s getting cold and windy. Shall we go inside?” suggested Chen Ying.
“Okay, let’s go,” said Su Xiaoxue.
Chen Ying helped Su Xiaoxue go back into her room.
She helped Su Xiaoxue settle in her room and talked with her for a short while. Then Chen Ying notifying the maid and left Su Xiaoxue’s house.
“She’s got something on her mind,” said Su Xiaoxue.
She sat in front of the window and watched Chen Ying leaving her house.
“I suppose she is worried about her brother,” said the maid.
“Her brother?” asked Su Xiaoxue.
“Yes. Oh, Miss, you might not be aware that her brother is hospitalized,” said the maid.
“Because of his mental illness? Still?” asked Su Xiaoxue.
“Yes, he is still unstable,” said the maid.
“Hasn’t she asked Mr. Wang to take a look at her brother?” asked Su Xiaoxue.
“I think she did,” said the maid.

"Will I ever be remembered...? I wish... someone would." These were the last word James mumbled before his conscious faded into darkness. In an era of political turmoil and civil strife, the Duke's son is forced to prove his worth for inheriting the title. Will he be able to accept the new reality and prove himself by leading this country into a prosperous future? Or will he cease to the pressure of his past and lose everything once more? Disclaimer: This is not a power-fantasy or a 'feel-good' story. If you feel a protagonist should never lack agency (especially in early story) or make compromises because of difficult circumstances, then this fiction is probably not for you. It is a story that delves deep into real world sociological/psychological subjects and explores many topics of gray morality. I wrote it because I like stories that make me think more about the world around us, not to detach myself from reality. Some aspects you can expect based on the tags include:- [Kingdom Building]: political drama, geopolitical/geoeconomic strategy- [Army Building]: massive battles featuring in-depth planning, combined arms, and operational logistics- [Identity Crisis]: someone translated into a whole different world having to rebuild their identity and life aims The story starts off slowly, more like a slice of life than action-adventure, but I guarantee you it will get there. For those who want to skip the slow part, start from Chapter - 35 (Beginning of The End) (The whole Disclaimer section is copied from Aorii as I am too busy writing the complete story.) And yes, just for General Knowledge, James will become OP throughout the story. He is not some legendary guy who will pull out Excalibur & conquer the entire world. Update Schedule - One chapter a day. This novel is also available on Scribble Hub. And again, I humbly thank you for reading it. I hope you stick throughout the journey.

Zombies
This is one of three stories that I am offering as a test run. If you like it, then I'll choose to continue working on it. I have a whole plot line ready to explore! What can I say, I'm a sucker for rebirth, regression, and transmigration stories. This one is a regression story. The main character get's yeeted back in the past, to where the end began. Read on tortured souls as I do my best to break the weak, and sooth those who don't have a soul to break. I spent some time trying to make a story that explores all the gritty situations a resident of the apocalypse would encounter. Unfortunately, I do struggle with pace. I get just as impatient as you when I can't get to the next bloody encounter. But I despise OP characters, and I really wanna stop and explore the fascinating death of civilization. I write this in hopes of making a main character who get's to be the bad-ass I can't be, without, you know, skipping the good stuff.
