Chapter 357: Stubborn, Docile, and Obedient
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
“Do you know that you’ve made a mistake now?”
“We made a mistake.” The three people almost knelt on the ground upon seeing Wang Yao. This surprised the police by the side.
He knew very well what kind of people they were. They were wily old birds and stubborn. They could be calm and composed, even if they had to face the police in the police station. Based on the current situation, this person had made them docile and obedient. What was the trick? They had to learn it.
“I don’t want to see you again.”
“Sure, sure!” The three people almost kowtowed to admit their mistakes.
Wang Yao quickly dredged their channels and collaterals, which had been forcibly blocked by external forces.
“It’s done. You’ll recover within three days.”
“Thank you. Thank you.” They had to express their gratitude.
“Hey buddy, I want to ask you a question. How did you punish them? They’re so docile and obedient,” a curious policeman asked.
“That is a secret.” Wang Yao smiled lightly.
The tension between Wei Hai and his wife had originally eased up a little, but it had turned into a cold war again due to this incident.
Yang Haichuan’s mother came again that day. She came to have a re-examination based on her appointment with Wang Yao before she left last time. She recovered well. Through the diagnosis, it was confirmed that the yin toxins in her internal organs were almost completely expelled. There were only a little bit remaining.
Wang Yao repeated the treatment. He did not use any medicine and only used his neixi. The effect was still good.
The old woman left with a smile.
There was still another patient that day, Zhou Wukang.
He and his father came in the afternoon. They had just come over from Cangzhou. They rushed over after settling down for a while. They still looked a bit tired.
“Drink some water first.” Wang Yao prepared some tea for them.
“Thank you, Uncle,” Zhou Wukang replied with a smile.
The child started to become cheerful and confident. After being put through the mill by his illness, he was far more mature than his peers.
After the treatment and recovery, there were no obvious differences between his left and right arm when judging from their appearances. His left arm was just slimmer.

Wang Yao carefully checked the channels and collaterals of his entire arm in order to examine the condition of the arteries and veins.
“Not bad.”
His arteries and veins were basically unobstructed. The next thing was to have continuous exercise and stimulation to try and make those small channels and collaterals become unblocked. The illness was considered to have been cured when his breathing and blood flow were smooth.
Next, Wang Yao began to use his neixi to treat Zhou Wukang’s illness.
He transported his neixi onto his palms. It slowly infiltrated into Zhou Wukang’s arm through the acupoints into his arteries and veins. Then, it flowed along the arteries and veins to the entire arm, even his entire body.
“How do you feel?”
“I feel quite good,” Zhou Wukang answered.
His arm and half of his body felt relaxed and warm. It was as if a heat flow entered into his arm from Wang Yao’s palms and flowed. It felt relaxing where it flowed past. Every tissue and cell seemed to be in a spa.
“I reckon that it can be cured with another week’s time or so,” Wang Yao said.
“That’s really great!” Zhou Xiong answered delightedly.
After the treatment, Zhou Xiong and his son stayed in the medical center for a while. They then made a move to leave.
Time had passed quickly. Half of the year was gone. The chestnuts should be ripe in mid-September. There were several chestnut trees on the hill. Some of them were aged, old trees. On the other hand, some of the trees were planted by Wang Yao when he started going up the hill. These chestnut trees were full of fruits. Some of their colors had begun to change. They were about to become ripe.
Wang Yao plucked two chestnuts on the hill. He dug out the fruit inside and tasted it. It tasted sweet. It could be eaten.
Peeling the chestnuts required some effort.
Wang Yao was studying Treatise on Miscellaneous Diseases in the cottage when a dog started barking outside the cottage.
A gentle and graceful lady walked up the hill slowly.
“Why are you here?”
“I miss you.” After walking a distance of mountain road, Tong Wei’s pretty face was a bit flushed.
“Rest for a bit and drink some water.”
Wang Yao poured her a glass of water.

“Has the matter been solved?”
“It’s solved. Don’t worry,” Wang Yao replied with a smile.
Both of them were being lovey-dovey for quite some time on the hill. They only returned home when it was time for dinner.
His family chatted and laughed during dinner.
Wang Yao received a call from Tian Yuantu. He asked if Wang Yao was free the next morning. He wanted to talk to him about something.
“Sure,” Wang Yao agreed readily.
During these few gatherings, he vaguely felt that there was something on Tian Yuantu’s mind, but he was not willing to say it.
“What’s wrong?”
“I have a friend coming over tomorrow.”
“Is it okay for me to be here?”
“It’s okay.”
Tong Wei stayed at Wang Yao’s house that night.
The next morning, the two of them went to the medical center after breakfast. Ever since the place was built, he usually met his friends there.
Tian Yuantu came around 9 a.m.
“Why did you bring gifts?”
“Aye, it’s just some tea,” Tian Yuantu replied.
“Go ahead and tell me the problem.”
“Do you have friends in Jing?” Tian Yuantu asked bluntly after hesitating for a while.
“Friends? I think I do. What’s wrong?”
“My company has a problem. I don’t have many connections in Jing, so it’s a bit of a hassle to deal with.” Tian Yuantu then explained his problem to Wang Yao in detail. He wanted to use the power of the Guo family in Jing, whom Wang Yao knew.
Wang Yao was planning to go to Jing. After all, the Su family helped him to obtain his medical qualification certificate. From sentiment and reason, he should pay a visit to express his gratitude. Furthermore, Su Xiaoxue’s condition was the same. She had to receive treatments. At that time, Wang Yao had just mastered the neixi therapy. He could give it a try as well.
“Is it very urgent?”
“It’s quite urgent,” Tian Yuantu replied.
In fact, he had been having sleepless nights recently because of the matter. It kept being postponed because he did not want to bother Wang Yao. He really had no choice now. The situation could not be delayed anymore. Otherwise, his previous efforts would all go to waste.
“I’ll go to Jing in a few days. I’ll ask about it then,” Wang Yao said.
“Okay. Thank you.”
“We’re friends. You’re too polite!” Wang Yao poured him a glass of water while smiling. “If you encounter these things in the future, go ahead and tell me. I’ll help you if I can.”
“Alright. When’s your wedding?” Tian Yuantu asked.
Tong Wei’s pretty face was blushing. Wang Yao was slightly startled.
“Soon.” He looked at Tong Wei as he spoke.
Tong Wei’s face was filled with happiness.
Tian Yuantu laughed. He could see that these two were quite a match. Tong Wei was a good girl.
“I won’t bother you.”
After seeing Tian Yuantu off, Tong Wei originally wanted to stay longer. But, she received a phone call from her company in Dao. They asked her to come back as soon as possible because they needed her to handle something.
“What’s wrong?”
“They asked me to go back to Dao and said that there’s something to be dealt with in the company.”
“I’ll drive you back tomorrow then.”
Wang Yao drove Tong Wei home in the afternoon. She had to do some preparations so she could go back to Dao the next day.
…
In Dao.
Damn it. How dare he lie to me! Wu Yueran was furious.
He had been to a few famous, big hospitals lately. In the end, all the test results proved that his body had no problems and that his waist was not injured at all. He came to realize that Wang Yao was scaring him.
Just you wait. I’m going to teach you a lesson.
…
“Father, be careful when you go up the hill.” Wang Yao did not forget to remind him before leaving.
In the past few days on the hill, Wang Yao discovered that the trees on the hill were growing even faster since the aura on the hill had become more and more intense. This led to an additional effect. The battle array on the hill was even more hypnotizing. He had already told his parents about the things they had to pay attention to about the battle array. However, he was still a little worried.
“Don’t worry. I know,” Wang Yao’s father replied.
He was indeed shocked when he saw the tree that could move on the hill. He did not find it strange anymore as he had seen more of it. However, he still had blurred vision.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
