Chapter 351: Getting Mad as Usual
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
“Are they so superstitious?” asked Tong Wei.
“Of course they are. This is roadwork — upsetting the earth. You know, there have been two accidents since the road work started. One person died, the other was seriously injured. The workers must think something went wrong,” said Wang Yao.
“Two accidents on such a small road?” said Tong Wei with surprise.
“Yes, that’s why they believe they have been punished,” said Wang Yao.
His car went into the village while they were talking. The car stopped, then Tong Wei came out, surprised all the villagers passing by.
“Who is that girl? So pretty!” said a middle-aged female villager.
“Look! She’s with Fenghua’s son. She must be his girlfriend!” said a young female villager.
“Such a pretty girl!” said the middle-aged villager.
“What’s the use of a pretty face? Is she gonna make money out of it? Who knows if Fenghua’s boy could even afford to marry such a pretty face,” said a jealous villager.
Tong Wei greeted Wang Yao’s parents after she went into Wang Yao’s house. Zhang Xiuying and Wang Fenghua were very happy.
“Please come in and take a seat. You don’t need to bring anything for us.” Zhang Xiuying more and more liked Tong Wei, her future daughter-in-law.
After Tong Wei sat down in the living room, Zhang Xiuying sat next to her and started to ask questions while holding Tong Wei’s hand. She asked Tong Wei about her life overseas, the food in France, and whether she would go to France again. It seemed that Zhang Xiuying was scared that Tong Wei would run away. She went to the kitchen to prepare dinner after chatting with Tong Wei for a while.
“Let me help you with dinner.” Tong Wei stood up.
“I don’t need help. You just sit here and rest. Have some fruits. The grapes and peanuts were all from our yard,” said Zhang Xiuying.
Tong Wei didn’t end up going to the kitchen.
Meanwhile, Wu Yaoran was in Haiqu People’s hospital.
“Well, Doctor, please take a close look. My back was truly in pain yesterday.” He went to the nearest hospital to get checked. He has been haunted by the sudden pain in his lower back when he was at Tong Wei’s home.
“Young man, you are fine. If you are still worried, go and get checked in the provincial hospital,” said the doctor with a smile. He didn’t understand why Wu Yaoran was so paranoid. According to the test results, Wu Yaoran was quite healthy.
“Am I really fine?” asked Wu Yaoran.
“I believe so,” said the doctor.
“Thank you,” said Wu Yaoran.
He was still a bit worried after he had left the Haiqu People’s Hospital. Therefore he drove to Ji City to get checked out at the provincial hospital.
Wang Yao, if I know you played a trick on me, you will be in serious trouble!
Wu Yaoran’s Porsche was travelling fast towards Ji City.
Meanwhile, Wang Mingbao was also in Ji City.
He was smoking under a big tree.
He was not in a good mood.

He came to Ji City a few days ago for his girlfriend Shen Qingqing, who he had only known for two months. He took Wang Yao’s advice to investigate what kind of person Shen Qingqing was in Ji City.
Ji City was a big place. It was not easy to find a person there. Therefore it took Wang Mingbao quite a few days to investigate.
The outcome made him furious.
His friend found the company Shen Qingqing used to work for. He asked around about Shen Qingqing and found that she didn’t have a good reputation. During the time Shen Qingqing was working in Ji City, she had sexual relationship with several rich people. She took a long leave of absence before she quit her job. Her colleagues heard that it was because she had an abortion.
Wang Mingbao felt dizzy once he knew all those things. He was furious as he realized Shen Qingqing was not completely honest with him. He was very serious about their relationship.
Fortunately, I got to know her true colors. Better now than never!
At least it was still early enough to stop the relationship. He couldn’t imagine what trouble he would get into if he married her.
Although he was not in good mood, he now knew what kind of person Shen Qingqing was. He wouldn’t marry a woman like her. He wouldn’t spend the rest of his life with her. After all, the chances of finding a woman who never took any sexual relationship seriously changing her character was like being struck by lightning.
As Wang Mingbao was in bad mood, he decided to stay at Ji City for a bit longer. He wanted to catch up with his friends there.
Meanwhile, Tong Wei was still at Wang Yao’s home.
She was talking to Wang Fenghua in the living room.
Wang Ru came back home at about 10 am.
“Hey, why didn’t you tell me you were gonna bring your girlfriend home?” Wang Yao heard his sister’s voice before he saw her.
“Hello, Sis, ” said Tong Wei.
“Hello, you are becoming prettier every day!” said Wang Ru with a smile.
She sat down and talked with Tong Wei for a while like a big sister, which didn’t happen often. Then she went to the kitchen to help her mother.
“How come you are back so soon?” asked Zhang Xiuying with surprise.
“I took a day off. How can I not be here when my brother brings his future wife home?” said Wang Ru. “When are they going to get married?”
“Your brother hasn’t decided yet,” said Zhang Xiuying.
“He needs to be in hurry. There are easily a lot of people chasing after Tong Wei, since she’s such a pretty girl,” said Wang Ru.
“I know. Speaking of being such a pretty girl, how come you haven’t got a boyfriend yet?” Zhang Xiuying changed the topic on her daughter.
“How come you start to talk about me? Your focus should be your future daughter-in-law today. We can discuss my boyfriend issues later,” said Wang Ru.
Zhang Xiuying started to prepare this dinner yesterday afternoon. She took Tong Wei’s visit very seriously. She cooked a banquet.

“Wow! Your mom cooked so many dishes! I don’t think we’ll be able to finish them all.” Tong Wei lowered her voice.
“Never mind that. My parents are just happy to see you,” said Wang Yao.
Wang Yao and his family had a nice lunch with Tong Wei. Wang Yao had a glass of red wine, so did Tong Wei. The wine made Tong Wei’s face red and attractive.
Wang Ru and Zhang Xiuying cleared up the table after lunch. Then Tong Wei and Wang Yao’s family played poker for a while.
“I want to take a look at your clinic,” said Tong Wei to Wang Yao.
“Okay,” said Wang Yao.
The two of them then headed to Wang Yao’s clinic.
“It looks nice,” said Tong Wei.
The clinic looked nice no matter what angle you looked at it from.
The courtyard was delicately decorated, and the air inside was very fresh. It was the perfect temperature and atmosphere to Tong Wei.
“Nice!” said Tong Wei with a smile.
“You think?” said Wang Yao.
“The grapes I had just now are from here?” said Tong Wei as she pointed at the grapes at the corner of the wall.
“Yes,” said Wang Yao.
“They are delicious,” said Tong Wei.
“Take some with you for your parents,” said Wang Yao.
“Okay,” said Tong Wei.
She walked around in the clinic. The two of them stayed in the office and chatted for a while. It was nice and cozy.
“I also want to take a look at Nanshan Hill,” said Tong Wei.
“No problem,” said Wang Yao.
Nanshan Hill was right in front of them. The path leading to the hill was unsteady. The hill appeared to be close to them, but actually it took them quite a while to reach the hill.
“Do you remember the breathing method I taught you? Try to inhale and exhale to the rhythm,” said Wang Yao.
He explained to Tong Wei the key points of inducing Qi. It was the basic stuff. Wang Yao didn’t go further as Tong Wei wouldn’t be able to understand yet.
He would rather Tong Wei comprehend the basic information than confusing her with the complexities.
It was an autumn afternoon and the wind on the hill was cool
It took them about 20 minutes to get to the foot of Nanshan Hill.
San Xian had come down from the hill to welcome them.
“Wow! What a big dog!” said Tong Wei with surprise.
The dog was as big as a calf. His fur was shiny. Tong Wei thought only the Tibetan mastiff could be this big. Maybe, even the Tibetan mastiff couldn’t grow this big. San Xian looked like a common local dog. Tong Wei had no idea how it could be so big.
“San Xian, say hello to Tong Wei,” said Wang Yao.
Woof! Woof! Woof! San Xian looked at Tong Wei and barked. Then he looked at Wang Yao. His eyes were bright.
“Why are you looking at me like that? Anyway, let’s go,” said Wang Yao.
As soon as Wang Yao finished talking, San Xian led them towards Wang Yao’s herbal field.
“Take it easy, give me your hand,” said Wang Yao.
He held Tong Wei’s hand all the way up to the herbal field.
Although it was autumn already, the trees and the herbs in the herbal field were still green. They hadn’t reached the time of withering. However, Wang Yao believed the trees and herbs would still be green in winter.
They would look magnificent at that time.
Da Xia was standing on the tree. He didn’t patrol his kingdom.
“Da Xia!” Wang Yao waved at the eagle.
Screech! Da Xia responded.
“They are so intelligent!” exclaimed Tong Wei.
“Yes, they are intelligent animals. By the way, we have a new friend here,” said Wang Yao.
“New friend? Who?” asked Tong Wei.
“Well, I guess he is not around at the moment. San Xian, where is Xiaohei?” asked Wang Yao.
Woof! Amazingly, the dog pointed to the back of his dog house with his paw.
“He’s around?” asked Wang Yao.
Woof!
“Xiaohei!” Wang Yao shouted towards the back of San Xian’s dog house, but nothing happened.
“Who is Xiaohei?” asked Tong Wei.
“He’s a snake,” said Wang Yao with a smile.
“Snake?!” Tong Wei’s face changed. Girls were normally scared of snakes.
“What herbs do you grow here?” asked Tong Wei curiously as she was looking at the well-grown herbs in the field.
“There are a lot herbs here. This is radix gentianae, that one is radix sileris, and the one over there is salvia…” Wang Yao introduced the herbs to Tong Wei one by one, as if he was listing off his family valuables.
“Wonderful!” exclaimed Tong Wei.
“That’s nothing,” said Wang Yao.
“I thought you studied biology in the university. How come you know so much about herbs and can also treat illnesses?” asked Tong Wei.
“I gained all the medial knowledge from God.” Wang Yao pointed at the sky.
“That’s all right if you don’t want to tell me.” Tong Wei pouted to pretend she was angry, but she just looked more lovely.
“I was telling you the truth.” Wang Yao kissed her on her cheek.
Tong Wei’s face turned red.
“Do you want me to show you the top of the hill?” asked Wang Yao.
“Yes,” said Tong Wei.
They went up to the top of the hill, where was more windy.
“See, how come there are footprints here?” asked Tong Wei with surprise as she saw the footprints in the rock, which seemed to be caused by external force.
“They are my footprints,” said Wang Yao.
While he was talking, he stepped down on the rock. Cracking! The part of rock under Wang Yao’s foot sank. Tong Wei could see clearly a footprint.
“What?!” exclaimed Tong Wei.
She knew Wang Yao practiced Chinese Kung Fu and had witnessed his Kung Fu skills. When they were travelling to a hill nearby, Wang Yao was able to threw a big stone of hundreds of kilograms. However, Tong Wei was more astonished by the footprints in the rock.
“So this is your internal power?” asked Tong Wei.
“Yeah, I guess so,” said Wang Yao after thinking for a moment.

Saga of Fallen Kings, Book I: The Revenant Prince
The Philosopher King once conquered the known world, his power seemingly unlimited and his armies inexhaustible. Since that time his might has slowly unravelled, and his once steadfast empire has begun to crack, splinter and devour itself. In the isolated Southern Realms, where even magic has abandoned them, none of that matters. For years it has been filled with warring kingdoms, where as many kings die to the blade as to old age, and constant battles tear apart the land. When one such kingdom invades its old enemy, the King and his heir, Prince Caden, are killed. Unable to accept the loss of his family Prince Arian is broken, and when the Philosopher King stretches out his hand in aid, Arian takes it without a second thought. When Caden wakes from death, he's different. His eyes and soul have changed, and he finds a world filled with friends who no longer trust he's even human. Suddenly thrust onto the throne and indebted to the Philosopher King, Caden has no choice but to keep going - he must finish what his father started, and try to survive the machinations of the figure who now owns his fealty. Meanwhile something beyond death stirs for him, desiring nothing more than to drag him back into its embrace. Author's Note: This story used to be known as "A King of his Own", but after some consideration I have decided to rebrand it. The first reason is that I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the title. The second is that I have come increasingly to view this story as a 'saga' containing multiple 'books' rather than one long, continuous publication, and as I did so I realized that as I was quickly getting to a point in the story where I wanted the first 'book' to end. This doesn't mean I'm going back on the things I said below - they're just going to continue in the next book of the Saga of Fallen Kings. :) Also, be aware that I do plan to edit this at some point. Though I take care to squash out any obvious errors when I proof-read, and do simple edits in that process, at some point I'm almost certainly going to do large edits that might significantly change parts of the story. Old author's notes: This started as a completely random writing session. There was no purpose or direction, but as I kept typing an entire world began to form in my mind that I knew I had to write about. My plan is to turn this story into a veritable medieval fantasy epic that spans an entire world, follows multiple character and storylines, and takes place over many years. The story has quite a grounded, almost 'realistic' start, but many more fantastical elements will be introduced, expanded upon and become central to the narrative. I have ideas for this story that make me genuinely excited and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy writing it, and join me on what will hopefully become a truly massive fantasy epic. If you do enjoy this story please consider following, rating and leaving a review. I'm also happy to answer any questions or comments you have. The Novel's Extra's Extra
As a reader, Cristopher always looked for things that entertained him, didn't matter what the "critics" said, all that matters was his own opinion on the novel, so he started reading "The Novel's Extra", a webnovel that despicts an author who is transmigrated to his own novel. It was fun and all with its own good and bad points, really, one of his favorites novels at the end of the journey, and that's taking into account the little fact that he didn't have too many things he was able to enjoy, not in that empty shell that was called life for him... Why could someone be born like that? With a void inside, an endless void that slowly consumes oneself... But... for better or worse... everything changed one day, the same day he woke up to discover he had the same faith of the author whose novel he just finished reading, becoming an extra in a novel, becoming The novel's extra's extra... /Ok, now that's the description I thought of... first of all, for those of you who are reading this, if any, a few points I have to make clear: 1. I'm not an english native speaker, so if you find anything wrong in the text, please let me know, that would help me learn, and I would be thankful for that.2. I'm writting this out of pure "enjoyment", so while I'll try to be constant, I'll not make any promises.3. True reason why I'm writing this is because I'm going through a moderate to crippling depression right now (and no, is not because anything trully bad and horrendous happened to me, it seems to have something to do with my brain's malfuctioning, among other things), and doctors told me to try writing as I enjoy reading. So yeah, this is more like a self-help excercise, to keep myself distracted while trying to be safe from my self.4. I choose to make a fanfiction of "The Novel's Extra" as I don't trully know how to write, and because I really loved that webnovel, though there are some points I didn't particulary liked.5. If you see some (let's be clear, really much) self insertion on this series, well, that may be me trying to escape reality, to which I make an early warning and disclaimer, and also ask for forgiveness, as I said before, this is more of an excercise, so don't take it too serious.6. I'll be a slow writer, as I have to still check a few things from the novel, even when I've read it like 3 or 4 times already, and because I know shit about writing a novel or a series.7. If you get to enjoy this, then that's good, I would be glad about it, maybe even more motivated, but I don't really expect this to be any good. Thanks to you all who may, or may not, be reading this novel./
