Chapter 330: Come Back Here Right Now
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
“That’s right. It’s him!”
“It can’t be!” The policeman who came felt perplexed suddenly.
He knew Wang Yao They were fairly close with each other. No matter how he looked at him, Wang Yao did not seem like a violent person who resisted law enforcement. It was most probably that either the actions or the words of these public officials were too offensive. To be frank, they were too harsh.
All of a sudden, the enforcement of law fell into a realm of embarrassment.
The policeman who finally came knew Wang Yao. Moreover, judging from the situation, they were obviously not just on speaking terms.
“Is there a misunderstanding here?”
Look. He’s already starting to side with him.
The man adjusted his spectacles. He had a ball of fire in his stomach.
What is this? You’re called over to help us enforce the law jointly. However, look at you. You’re actually siding with him! Are you even aware for the slightest bit? No wonder you’re always stuck in this town as a policeman!
Although he was angry, he could not say these words out loud. Otherwise, it would destroy the unity between the colleagues in the unit.
In my life, there is a kind of charisma like the sea. Time passes by ruthlessly…
Just then, his phone rang.
“Hello, it’s me. Yes. Yes. Yes!”
He said three “yeses” continuously and bowed unctuously. The spectacles resting on the bridge of his nose almost dropped.
A growl could be heard vaguely from the phone. The last few words seemed to be “come back here right now!”
“Sorry. My attitude just now was inappropriate,” the man who was wearing a pair of spectacles actually took the initiative to apologize to Wang Yao.
He treated Wang Yao rudely at first, but afterwards with respect. It was amazing how quickly his attitude changed.
“It’s okay.” Wang Yao smiled.
He knew that the phone call made by the old woman beside him probably played a role.
The mother of the mogul, who was second to none in the city, was offended here. Of course, she had to talk to her son about it.
They came and went quickly.
“Let’s go then,” the policeman who led the team said.
“Okay. I’ll treat you all to a meal some other day.”
After they left, Wang Yao expressed his gratitude to the old woman.
“It’s nothing. You’re treating my illness and saving my life. I should be the one thanking you.”
Wang Yao made the three of them stay for a while and gave them three Nine Herbs pill each.
Professor Lu and Han Wan knew how precious the pills were and thanked Wang Yao immediately.
“What’s this?” The old woman did not know about the effect of the pill.

“This is the Nine Herbs pill. When your body is very unwell, it can alleviate the pain temporarily.”
“Oh, thank you.” The old woman also immediately expressed her gratitude.
…
In the car, the man wearing the pair of spectacles was thinking.
“What’s going on?” his colleague beside him asked.
“Our boss called just now. He flew into a rage and scolded me. What do you think the situation is?” the man with a pair of glasses answered with a sigh.
“I didn’t expect that his connections are actually this strong!”
He was also helpless in the face of such a situation. Obviously, someone had made a call to their department chief. Moreover, the person must have a very high status. At the very least, he or she must be the main higher-up in the county. Otherwise, the chief of his department would not be this frantic.
“I’m really mad!”
“Alright, don’t be angry. It’s not the first time we’ve encountered such an incident. I’ll throw a feast tonight. Let’s drink some beer to cheer you up.”
He stepped on the accelerator. The car sped off and left the mountain village.
…
“Dr. Wang, thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
These two groups of people made a move to leave one after another.
Wang Yao suddenly thought of a way of advertising the Nine Herbs pill, which he had formulated.
He was not particularly clear about the specific efficacy of the medicine. However, judging from how excited and happy Professor Lu and Han Wan looked, they must have tried it already. The effect must have been quite good.
A good medicine could play a good role in advertising. However, although the Nine Herbs pill was not as valuable as the Prolongation pill, it could not be refined easily. The medicine had to be used at a crucial point and on a key person.
After all, he only had a week’s time left.
He still had some of the Nine Herbs pill left. There were also some in his house. His parents would not need to use them for the time being.
…
“What? You’re being blocked? A call from the city? Ha, ha. Great!”
In Ji, the dandy who had not recovered hung up the phone.
You have some social connections, huh? This is interesting.
…
On their way back, the pretty girl who came with Professor Lu asked, “Professor Lu, does Dr. Wang really only know how to treat illnesses?”
“As far as I know, he knows a little bit of Kung Fu too,” Professor Lu replied after thinking for a while. He knew this from Tian Yuantu, who mentioned it occasionally.
“He knows Kung Fu too?” The girl was a little surprised.
“Yes, but I don’t know exactly how good he is. I heard it from his friend.”

“Yi, what else do you think he knows?” Han Wan asked with a smile.
“Landscape design. I think the decoration of his small courtyard is quite exquisite,” the girl replied with a smile.
“It’s pretty good indeed. If I were to decorate it, I may not do as good as a job as he did,” Professor Lu said.
“Who’s his teacher?”
“I’m not sure.”
“Yi, why are you asking so many questions? Are you interested in Dr. Wang?” Han Wan said with a smile.
“I’m quite interested in him. He’s so proficient in pharmaceutical technology at such a young age. Furthermore, he’s able to formulate such a pill that is highly praised even by teachers.”
“Don’t you know a lot too, Yi?”
“I only have a superficial understanding of it.”
“I hope that he can cure your illness,” Professor Lu said.
“Yes. Sorry for troubling you so much.”
“Don’t mention it.”
…
On the road from Lianshan County to the mountain village, a car was moving smoothly. The driver was being careful.
Two people sat in the back seat. One was a man in his 40s, and the other was a woman who seemed to be in her 60s and looked more haggard.
“Mother, do you feel unwell?” the middle-aged man asked softly.
“No, I’m quite well,” the old woman replied.
Her son was filial. In fact, she had been suffering from this illness for years. Her son took her to many hospitals and saw many doctors, but the effect was negative. She did not know how her son heard that there was a doctor who was remarkable in treating headaches. Her son drove her there.
When people were old, they were not willing to run about. But, she did not want to ruin her son’s good intentions.
Looking at the mountain ridges on both sides of the road, the old woman asked somewhat curiously, “Is the doctor in a mountain village?”
“Yes,” Chen Changfeng replied.
“The environment is quite good.”
There were mostly trees on the hills of both sides. After a while, the car arrived at the spot where the road was being repaired. The road started to become slightly bumpy. Although it was a luxury car, it was still inevitable for the car to bump along the road.
With a bump, the old woman, who was sitting in the back seat, did not look too well. She was rubbing her forehead.
“Li, drive slower.”
“Okay, Director Chen.”
“It’s okay, Changfeng. The road is being repaired.”
Fortunately, the section of the road being repaired was not particularly long. Soon, the car resumed to moving steadily.
Phew. The driver secretly heaved a sigh of relief.
The car passed by a small bridge and entered the village. The driver parked the car at the southernmost end.
“We’re here,” Chen Changfeng said.
The driver first got out of the car and opened the car door.
“The house is quite beautiful,” the old woman said.
Almost everyone who came here for the first time had such a feeling.
“Let’s go in.”
Wang Yao was in the medical center. He had received a call from Chen Changfeng earlier, so he had decided to wait there.
Creak. The sound of the wooden door being opened came in from the outside.
They’re here. He put down the book in his hands.
“Is Dr. Wang in?”
“Please come in.”
Three people came in: Chen Changfeng, his driver, and his mother.
Wang Yao could see who the patient was with just a glance. The old woman did not look well. Her eye bags were quite serious. It was obviously caused by poor rest.
“Hello, Dr. Wang. This is my mother.”
“Hello, Aunty.”
“Hello, sorry to trouble you.” Seeing the young doctor, Chen Changfeng’s mother was still quite surprised.
He’s so young!
“Please take a seat.”
Wang Yao first used the three ways of diagnosis, which were looking, hearing and asking. He had basically determined the condition of the old woman. He then had a careful look by checking her pulse.
Her condition isn’t considered to be particularly severe.
Speaking of which, her condition was just slightly more serious than that of Tian Yuantu’s wife, Xu Jiahui. It was just that this kind of illness was not easy to treat.
The Anshensan could solve most of the problem.
“I can cure this illness,” Wang Yao said after the diagnosis ended.
“Please do,” Chen Changfeng hurriedly responded.
“Mr. Chen, please let me finish. I can treat it, but it’ll be very expensive.”
“It’s not a problem as long as you can cure it.” Chen Changfeng’s reply was straightforward.
“Alright. Aunty, please sit down first. I’ll give you a massage.”
“Okay.”
Wang Yao then used massaging techniques to help the old woman relax her body. He mainly massaged her head and neck. He controlled his strength well.
The old woman only felt that her head was a little tight and swollen at the beginning, then she began to sweat. She gradually felt that as if something was being drawn out of her head. Her headache had been alleviated a lot. Her body also felt a little better.
Wang Yao stopped after more than an hour.
“How do you feel?” Wang Yao asked.
“It’s very relaxing,” the old woman replied.
“That’s good.” Wang Yao smiled.
For such an illness, such massaging techniques could be effective in a shorter period of time.
“I’ll prescribe a medicine. Bring it back and let your mother consume it.”
Wang Yao prescribed the medicine that was often used to consolidate the corporeity. He only added two herbs into it, which were used to relieve the uneasiness of the mind.
As for the Anshensan, he had to decoct it separately in the battle array on the hill.

March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.
