Chapter 209: Wait a While Longer
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
“What’s going on? A relative?”
“No, I ran into her on the road,” Wang Yao said. “I nearly collided into her while driving; she might have been shocked.”
Wang Yao didn’t notice any blood earlier on. Then again, it was also because the woman was uncooperative and he was not able to do a more thorough check.
“It’s not because of shock, she was hit.” Zhou Xiong interrupted, hearing the two men’s conversation.
“Hit? By what?” Wang Yao was stunned upon hearing this. Pan Jun was also stunned.
“Her husband,” Zhou Xiong said.
“Then it doesn’t concern you guys. It’s best not to interfere in these kinds of troubles,” Pan Jun reminded them. He had good intentions.
“Let’s see the patient first,” Wang You decided.
It didn’t matter if the patient had anything to do with him. The first priority was to save the patient.
“My child, my child!!” The woman wailed.
The woman lying on the bed had overheard the conversation between the doctor and the nurse. Then, it was as though she went crazy. The successive shocks had caused her to lose her control.
She continued bleeding.
Her family was gone, and her child was gone now too. What point was there in continuing to live?
Wang Yao entered the room and looked at the woman. He looked at her eyes.
Her heart was dead. That’s what he thought.
This wasn’t the expression that should be seen on someone who was about to become a mother.
He extended out his hand to take the woman’s pulse. The woman’s arm was cold.
It was dangerous. Her condition was critical.
Similarly, the baby was in an equally unstable condition.
Wang Yao’s mind was flying. No matter how hard he tried, though, he could not think of a suitable way to save the baby.
Hold it!
He took out a jade bottle, from which he took out a pill.
“What’s this?” Pan Jun stared at it.
This is?!
Zhou Xiong looked at the pill, and his eyes filled with curiosity.
Other people wouldn’t recognize it, but he was very familiar with it. That day, in Cangzhou, his uncle was already on the verge of death. Even Master Sang had given his last warning. At the critical moment, on the line between life and death, Wang Yao had arrived and brought out a similar looking pill.
One pill to reverse death!
After feeding her the pill, Wang Yao felt her pulse again. After a while, he breathed a sigh of relief.
“How is it?” Zhou Xiong asked gently.
“It should be fine for now, but she needs to rest. Where’s her family?”
“I don’t know. She refused to say.”
“Have you guys decided?” At this moment, the doctor who walked in asked.
“Pan Jun?” The doctor was surprised to see Pan Jun.

“Team Leader Zhao, let’s go outside to talk,” Pan Jun gestured outside.
“We need to quickly find her family,” Wang Yao said.
…
Outside the ward, in the corridor.
“That’s impossible, I’ve already checked. There’s no other way.”
“Try again, see if there’s anything else?”
“Fine, we’ll wait a while, but we can’t wait too long. If we’re too late, both mother and child will be in danger,” the person called Team Leader Zhao said.
“Great, thank you!”
The following checkup left all the experts shocked.
Earlier, the patient had been in a critical condition. However, she had now stabilized, and it seemed like she could walk out of the hospital after a brief period of observation.
“What’s going on?”
After checking for the third time, they discovered that it was true.
“Was there a mistake earlier?”
“Impossible, in that situation just now, there was a very low chance of making such a mistake. It must be because of the pill,” Pan Jun whispered.
“Is the child safe?”
The woman looked at Zhou Xiong. She thought that this kind-hearted man was trying to trick him and looked to the doctor for confirmation.
Then, her eyes flickered.
Her family was gone, but she was determined to keep the child. Initially, she had decided to put up with all the suffering for the child’s sake. However, now, she had made her decision.
“That man is not a good man,” her mother had said to her before. Thinking back, she realized how short-sighted she was before. She truly regretted her choice.
“Do you want to speak to your family now?” Zhou Xiong said gently.
He was now worried about his own son. It was already 10 pm, and Kang was at home alone. Although he had called once to check on him, he was still worried.
“Would you help me call my brother, please?” After some hesitation, the woman finally requested.
Zhou Xiong helped her call her brother.
Upon hearing the news, the other party became very anxious and very angry. He said he would come immediately.
“Thank you,” the woman said for the first time.
“Don’t mention it; it’s what we should do,” Zhou Xiong replied. For some reason, he seemed a little absent-minded.
They sat there for about an hour before the woman’s younger brother arrived. He was of average build and looked pretty sturdy.
“Sister!” When he saw the woman lying on the bed, he became very emotional.
“Was it that scum Pang Yan? I told you to stay away from him, why didn’t you listen! I’m going to look for him.”
“Qi!”
…
The brother and sister continued to talk. Wang Yao and Zhou Xiong didn’t think it was appropriate and went out into the corridor. They were preparing to leave shortly after giving the brother and sister some time.
“That pill, it must be very valuable.”

“It is.”
This medicine contained a number of licorice roots. How could it be simply described as valuable? Based on his current situation, he might not even be able to create one in a few months. Each time he used one, he would lose one. Unless it was a real emergency, he was not willing to use them easily.
“Apologies,” Zhou Xiong said, after a moment of silence.
“What are you apologizing for?” Wang Yao asked.
“If I didn’t call you, perhaps you wouldn’t have to come.”
“If I didn’t, a life would have been lost,” Wang Yao replied, laughing.
After reading numerous Taoist classics, Wang Yao had a much more open mind. Certain things didn’t matter as much to him anymore.
In this world, there was such a thing as karma and fate.
As the two of them were talking, the woman’s younger brother walked out.
“My sister told me what happened. Thank you,” the man sincerely expressed his gratitude. In today’s society, there were few who could do this.
“Don’t mention it.”
“Goodbye.” Wang Yao and Zhou Xiong decided to leave and said goodbye to Pan Jun.
Even up to the moment they were leaving, they still didn’t know the woman’s name.
“I’ll send you home.”
“Sure, thanks.”
After sending Zhou Xiong home, Wang Yao rushed back to Nanshan hill. By the time he got back to his village, it was already 11 pm. The village was very quiet. Besides a few houses which still had their lights on, the only lights came from the street lamps.
Wang Yao got out of his car and went up to Nanshan hill.
On his way up the hill, another light flickered on. Not long later, it turned off.
The hilltop was very quiet, and Wang Yao slept peacefully.
He slept very well, but far away, someone else was losing sleep. This person was precisely Chen Boyuan in Lianshan County. He had arranged to meet Wang Yao this afternoon, but because of some matters, Wang Yao had been delayed. He had given Wang Yao a call arranging to meet Wang Yao the next day instead.
What could he say? After all, he was here with a request. He had no choice but to wait one more day. However, he was worried that he would get another call from Beijing. He had been here for two days already but had yet to even meet the other party. He was not being very effective.
Hopefully, I’ll get to see him tomorrow.
The next day, the weather was a little cold.
Bark bark bark! Early in the morning, San Xian started barking.
At this moment, Wang Yao was practicing his martial arts on the hilltop. Hearing the dog barking, he didn’t care very much.
Near the dog was a thin snake. This was precisely the snake that Wang Yao had saved a while ago. In a short period of time, the snake’s wounds had healed. For some reason, however, it had chosen to take the risk of coming back here. One had to know that, whether it was the dog in front of it right now or the eagle that was watching from somewhere up above, both were enemies that it had no way to fight.
Growl. The dog made a low noise.
It was deliberating whether to kill this snake with one bite since the snake had intruded into its territory or to leave the snake alone. It couldn’t disobey Wang Yao after all.
What a conundrum!
The snake hissed a few times and faced off with the dog. Then, it turned around, preparing to leave.
Hmm? A snake!
Wang Yao came down from the hilltop and entered the Spirit Gathering Battle Array. He saw the snake and recognized it as the one he had just saved.
“Hello.”
The snake paused, turning to look at Wang Yao. Again, it seemed to have some intelligence.
“Go on, be careful.”
At this moment, the dog ran up and glared at the little snake.
“Alright, San Xian, it’s so small. Don’t bully it.”
Wang Yao rubbed the dog’s head and then continued walking back to his cottage.
The dog continued glaring at the snake. Then, a shriek rang out from the skies. The snake quickly turned and left.
The dog shook its head and looked up to see a black dot that appeared in the sky.
At this moment in the village near Nanshan hill, another car had entered the village. It stopped near the southern end of the village, and a man got out of the car. This man was Chen Boyuan. He initially planned to wait in Lianshan County, but he had received a call in the morning. While the madam did not say much, he understood her intentions. Therefore, he had called Wang Yao to inform that he would come over to the village.
After receiving the call, Wang Yao came down from the hill and saw the anxious Chen Boyuan waiting there.
“Did you wait long?”
“I just arrived.”
“Come in and sit.”
Wang Yao brought him over to his parent’s house. There was no one at home, as both his parents were out. Wang Yao poured him a cup of tea.
“Here, drink.”
“Thank you.”
“You’re here for Su Xiaoxue’s matter, aren’t you?”
“Yes, Madam Song is worried about the miss’s condition. It’s been so many days, yet you haven’t told us when you would come back to Beijing.”
“Give me a while more,” Wang Yao said, sipping another mouthful of tea.
“How long more do we have to wait?” Chen Boyuan was getting anxious.
“I don’t know myself,” Wang Yao said. He put down his cup of tea and looked out of the window, gazing at the mountain scenery.
“I’m waiting for a particular herb.”
“What herb is it? I can go and get it immediately.”
“Heh, you won’t be able to get it,” Wang Yao laughed after hearing Chen Boyuan.

The Perks of Immortality
This story will no longer be updated. After living decades and dying hundreds of times, Kegan has learned that he has finally passed some test that the cruel spirit had given him. Now, Kegan has the ability to gain “perks” that can make his life much easier. He is looking forward to finally having an easy life with the new perks he has earned. Rules to keep me honest for the perk system: Spoiler: Spoiler 1. The purpose of perks is to help the MC live longer and do new things each life. 2. The perks can be unlocked by getting hurt or killed. 3. The perks can be unlocked by putting in a lot of effort that isn’t easily duplicated in a new life. 4. Perks are generally beneficial enhancements to the MC’s body. 5. Perk costs can be lowered with more impressive achievements to unlock them. 6. Perk costs can be lowered by repeated death or injury from something the perk protects against. 7. Perk costs are increased for quality of life improvements that don’t benefit survival. I want to avoid one of the pitfalls I see for other LitRPG stories where the game elements barely relate to the story, or offer very little information. If people are skipping over and not reading the perks then I'm doing things wrong. So I promise to try and make the perks interesting, sometimes humorous, informative, and relevant to the story.Cover art by http://dertypaws.com/

Godling
This is a story of a guy who one day comes home to find a program installed on his pc. He quickly learns that the program is just a game called godling that just showed up out of no where. Fair warning to all of you; I am not perfect, in fact i'm not even that good when it comes to writing. I do it mainly because I enjoy it, I always love writing stories and sometimes I will post it like I will with this one. My grammar could be better and my writing skills are so and so. I hope that by continuing to write I will grow as a writter so I would really appreciate it if you could point out my mistakes so that I can learn from them. This story will be pretty laid back as I suck at action, but that doesn't mean I won't try to add any. Release schedule is 2-4 chapters a month with each chapter about 1000 words give or take.
