Chapter 84: Sighing Admirer
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
Everything should be done step-by-step. When Wang Yao thought about it, it was already dark. He then went home to have a meal. He came home for dinner a lot more often as the end of the year neared.
“Mom, do you need my help?” Wang Yao knew that it would be busy at home since it was the end of the year—they had to sweep the house, steam bread, and cook the meat and vegetables.
“No. Your sister told me that she would be off several days later. She will come and do housework with me,” said Zhang Xiuying.
“Okay.”
…
At night in Haiqu thousands of miles away from the village, in a quiet living quarter by the sea.
In a villa, a mother and son sat in the living room and watched TV.
“Mom, you look better than you did before!” said middle-aged man happily.
His mother looked pale when he went out. She did not have much color before since she didn’t have a lot of energy. However, her face seemed to be rejuvenated and full of life now, which was so rare.
“Yes. The medicine sent by Yuantu was so effective!” the woman exclaimed. She knew the most about her change. It had only been half a day and she could already feel a great change in her body after drinking half the medicine. This was the first time in years; she was so happy and surprised.
“It is good that it is effective. I will tell him when you finish it. I will ask him to bring another one,” the middle-aged man said happily.
“Yes. You should invite Yuantu to our home and I will cook for you.”

“That’s great. I haven’t eaten your food before.”
Looking at his mother becoming well, the middle-aged man was so delighted.
“The doctor who made the medicine is so great!” the woman praised.
“Yes. He is powerful,” said the man.
…
On Nanshan hill, Wang Yao read a book in the cold cottage. Then, he put it back into the lattice in the system.
Lying on his bed, he thought about the mission that he received during the day. He should think about it carefully since it could not be completed by itself and the punishment was severe.
He could not think of anything and so he went sleep.
The next morning, he picked up the phone call of his mother when he was busy in the field. His father was coughing at night and he felt uncomfortable in the morning, so she asked Wang Yao to pick up some medicinal herbs.
Wang Yao went home directly.
He found his parents were still at home and then he checked on his father. It was easy to see that his father had inflammation. Wang Yao found several medicinal herbs in the field when he went back to the hill. He made a medicine to clear the throat and remove inflammation for his father.
“Dad, you should stop smoking these next two days.”
“Okay,” replied Wang Fenghua.
Wang Yao helped his parents to do something and then he was back to the hill.
“He does have abilities,” Wang Fenghua said to his wife when they were busy.
“Abilities? What kind of abilities?” Zhang Xiuying stopped her job and said.
“I feel so comfortable when I take the medicine made by him,” said Wang Fenghua.
“Of course. He is my son,” said Zhang Xiuying proudly.
There were surprise visitors that came to the hill while Wang Yao was working. One was He Qisheng who had been on hill many times and there was a young man beside him. He seemed to be younger and very handsome.

“Hello. I am Guo Zhenghe,” said the young man. Wang Yao knew exactly who he was. He was the younger brother of Guo Sirou, the one who had been poisoned. He came back from death row because of Wang Yao’s medicine.
“I came to thank you.” Guo Zhenghe seemed to be honest, but the appreciation was a bit late.
“Zhenghe went back to school as soon as he recovered. He had no time to come to the hill, but he came to here especially during the holiday to show his appreciation,” He Qisheng explained.
“It doesn’t matter. The medicine was very costly,” said Wang Yao calmly. In other words, it was an equal exchange, so Zhenghe had no need to thank him.
“I had spent money in the hospital, but they did not cure me. You saved me, so I should come to thank you,” said the young man.
“Come in then,” Wang Yao said to the two of them with a smile.
San Xian looked at them entering the cottage quietly.
“Have a drink.” Wang Yao served them with a pot of tea.
“This is some good tea. Is it Qimen black tea?” The young man drank and admired the taste.
“Yes.”
“Bro—can I call you that?” Guo Zhenghe asked with a smile.
“Up to you.”
“You enjoy life so much!?”
“My friend gave the tea to me, and now, I make it for you guys.”
He Qisheng sat to one side. He was astonished when drinking the tea.
It was so cold in the cottage. Guo Zhenghe could not bear it.
“It is so cold, but you have no heater?” Guo Zhenghe asked confusingly.
“I’m used to it,” said Wang Yao with a smile.
“That’s incredible!” said Guo Zhenghe.
No common person could bear this amount of cold.
“Thank you.”
Guo Zhenghe and He Qisheng stayed in the cottage for ten more minutes. Guo Zhenghe was curious about all the different kinds of medicinal herbs. Wang Yao just pointed at some common herbs and he did not explain them any further. Licorice roots were planted there, and they were covered by some common herbs. Common people could be tricked but not He Qisheng since he knew so much about medicine. Wang Yao could see that from their several interactions.
They had a lot of questions, especially He Qisheng, but he just said two words, “I admire you! “These two words were said by He Qisheng from his heart.

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)

Four story anthology
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] [participant in #NaNoWriMo] Preface: This fiction will contain four different stories set up as a challenge for myself and to get better at writing. The challenge for royal road writathon is a 55.555 word goal while the nanowrimo challenge is 50.000 words. Reader suggestions is turned on, feel free to point out errors I missed and I'll fix them up! Chasing sun, napping softly: Cultivation/Xianxia genre. Some parts will poke at the ridiculousness of the Xianxia gerne. We follow the life of a magical fox monster, who doesn't like how the cultivation world works. Said beast seems to have more knowledge than is usual for normal magical beasts. In it's infinite wisdom it decided to search for the main character of the cultivation world to have a cozy and safe place beside him. Our fox will act as a "wise beast" to coast along on the main characters rise to greatness, all for peace, happiness and that amazing napping spot in the sun. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing in first person. Comedic effect between talking vaguely and sounding wise. The cost of heroism: A story more centered around fights and mental health of hired mercenaries/heroes. The world is infected with an eldritch corruption. Humans are trying their best to explore and clear out wilderness and the dungeons hiding in them to establish new cities. Lords seek for hired hands to do the professional work. Thanks to the setting, the story will show how awful pasts are the norm and how pragmatic people became thanks to that. People exchange their sanity for riches, fame and gods acceptance. Interpersonal relationships change drastically and quickly. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing grim scenes/imparting a feeling of how grim the world is. Writing fight scenes. Showing different mental states. Describing their influence on people during fights, walks or even after successful or failed campaigns. Who will be the next powerhouse? : A story about a gaming show, it's host Staan and the different participants. Stereotype characters, stereotype backstories, silly challenges and quizzes. The winner of those challenges gets powerups for their power system. Be it magic, ki, psychic power or anything else imaginable and unimaginable to reach the power of gods. The challenges for myself with this story: A softer tone for storytelling. Making the reader smile and enjoy themselves. A different try at slice of life story. I was left behind on earth as my family conquered another world and enjoys riches, but that's okey because I got a cheat too! : Stereotypical Isekai story parody twisted into an Urban Fantasy story. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing over the top and overdramatic scenarios/scenes Writing in first person. Walking into stereotypical scenarios and making them more dramatic/giving them a twist. Different type of humor.

Yuan, the valiant 'Hero' who defeated the 'Demon King', was unfortunately betrayed by his most trusted comrades who accompanied him in his life-long journey. "Heh... I never thought that I'd die like this... In the hands of my own comrades at that..." With that self-deprecating remark, the great Hero, Yuan, fell into an eternal slumber. Of course, that was what he initially thought, but life had other plans set for him. As his soul was drifting off aimlessly into the unknown, a soft and ethereal voice soon called out to him: "My Child, you have suffered and was betrayed. You gave it your all but didn't receive anything in return. In the end, you were killed by those whom you called your own." And so, a miracle was generously bestowed upon Yuan. "I will give you another chance in life My Child... I hope that you lead this new life the way you want it to be. Next time do not be controlled and easily deceived by others... Do whatever it is that you want and desire." Yuan Amon, born and raised in an ordinary family in the Philippines, led a leisurely new life on Earth, only to get summoned right back to his old one 18 years later. "I... I can't understand... Just why... Why was I sent back here of all places!?" A roar of utter dismay resounded in his private chambers. IMPORTANT NOTE (21/10/20): I have dropped this novel on this website! But don't worry, because I have remade this novel on another website called Webnovel.com so you can check it out over there! The story has completely changed though, so don't expect the same old thing, okay? I will still keep this dropped novel here though because it serves as a memory for me when I just started writing so I won't be deleting it. I hope to see you there on Webnovel!
