Chapter 429: Advancement. Elemental Queen

Looking at its master, the Scarlet Flame Drake turned its head and barked in the direction of the depths of the flaming mountains.
Its meaning was obvious. Since its master had such powerful attacking strength, they should go deeper and kill a few more of those flame giants to obtain a few more fire crystal cores!
“You’re also a glutton…” Zhang Che cast a glance at the Scarlet Flame Drake, at a loss for words as he kept track of the time silently. He jumped onto the Scarlet Flame Drake’s back and waved his hand in the direction of the depths of the flames, exclaiming, “Come on, we’re short on time! It all depends on whether you’re fast enough if you want to eat more of those fire crystal cores!”
The Scarlet Flame Drake cried out excitedly in response, dashing madly further into the flames while carrying Zhang Che on its back.
After advancing not even a thousand meters further, the terrain suddenly rose. The silhouette of a tall, majestic mountain appeared vaguely before him.
He heard several furious roars. A few flame giants drew closer to them, each wielding fiery weapons of differently colored flames.
-Could it be that these fellows are actually guarding something?- Zhang Che suspected. After all, the Scarlet Flame Drake’s encounter with the first flame giant was very close to here. It was impossible for these flame giants to not notice the battle from earlier.
Even so, they ignored the fight and let their companion die, and only made their moves when Zhang Che approached the mountain’s foot with the Scarlet Flame Drake.
Zhang Che would not believe they weren’t guarding something, even if he was beaten to death!
“One two three four… five, six!” Zhang Che swept his gaze around, realizing six flame giants had rushed up to them, and his eyebrows immediately rose in joy.

The Scarlet Flame Drake could totally rank up a tier after killing these guys!
Done thinking, Zhang Che narrowed his eyes slightly, calculating the distance between him and those flame giants.
The six flame giants soon came within the scarlet and white sword’s attack range almost simultaneously.
Zhang Che didn’t strike immediately. Instead, he tried to observe them with his data eyes. However, nothing happened.
He was finally sure that those flaming creatures weren’t exotic beasts, but another type of fantastical lifeform.
-Why care so much? I don’t research them anyway…- Zhang Che thought, shaking his head. A scarlet and white light quickly shot out from his brow and flew around the six charging flame giants.
The six flame giants’ heads exploded in quick succession. Their bodies burst into masses of fire sparks and scattered.
Six golden scarlet fire crystal cores fell to the ground with clear, crisp sounds.
As expected, the scarlet and white sword dominated those elemental creatures easily. They could not put up any resistance at all, and the sword wiped them out instantly.
“Wuwuwoof!” the Scarlet Flame Drake immediately barked, growing excited. As if it had learned to ride the wind, it suddenly became faster and ran up to the six fire crystal cores, slurping them up one after another and devouring them all.
In the next moment, an intense golden scarlet flame light burst out from inside the Scarlet Flame Drake, shining like a miniature sun.
The enormous aura directly blew Zhang Che off of the Scarlet Flame Drake’s back, and he fell on the ground about a dozen meters away.
“Damn, such a huge commotion! Looks like it’s about to go through an advancement!”
Zhang Che quickly bounced back up to his feet, staring at the Scarlet Flame Drake in the golden scarlet flame, greatly anticipating what was going to come next.
The Scarlet Flame Drake stood there unmoving in the golden scarlet flames as its aura grew stronger and stronger.

Zhang Che didn’t know how long the fellow would take to complete its advancement. He walked towards it quickly, preparing to recall it into his spiritual sea. He hoped the rainbow crystal’s energy would help it break through more smoothly.
At that moment, he heard a furious roar from the majestic mountain ahead. A silhouette dove down the mountain, moving as swift as the wind.
“Hmm? It sounds like a female?” Zhang Che was a little shocked. He quickly recalled the Scarlet Flame Drake back into his spiritual sea with a wave of his hand, then focused his eyes towards the peak of the mountain. However, he wasn’t able to see past the flames to get a better idea of the oncoming figure’s appearance, as well as what type of lifeform it was.
However, the furious roar from that figure was incredibly clear. It obviously sounded like a woman.
-Could it be that even those fantastical creatures have different genders?- Zhang Che suspected briefly. Truly, all kinds of strange things could be found in this world…
However, something must be up if an anomaly had appeared. Zhang Che grew wary inside.
Heavens knew how strong the oncoming figure was. He would have to run for his life if its flame attacks could penetrate his Elemental Protective Barrier.
-Hmm, I better not wait. It’s best to get out as soon as possible!- Done thinking, Zhang Che no longer cared to see what kind of a creature the incoming figure was. He immediately turned around and ran.
That whirlwind-like figure quickly gave chase, letting out clear and elegantly furious cries as it chased him, rapidly drawing closer to Zhang Che.
After running for less than two hundred meters, Zhang Che was forced to stop and turn around.
He had no choice; he was too slow on his feet. The difference in speed was too great compared to these inhuman creatures. There was no way he could escape!
No matter what, he had to battle the creature!
At this moment, Zhang Che finally got a clear look at the creature’s appearance. His eyes immediately shot wide open.
The creature that swooped down from the mountain was actually a woman!
Well, to describe it as a woman was a little misleading. To put it more accurately, it was a humanoid flaming creature whose figure closely resembled that of a woman.
Unlike the flame giants he saw earlier, whose flames were surging everywhere, this flaming creature seemed to be made of flesh and blood. It was tall and slim, covered in golden scarlet armor, and had a head full of fiery red long hair swaying in the wind, looking extremely graceful.
The woman’s complexion was white as jade, and a flame-shaped pattern was visible on her forehead. Her eyes were emitting thick killing intent as she stared at Zhang Che. She wielded a golden scarlet halberd close to three meters long, giving off the aura of a martial goddess.
-She’s dangerous!- Zhang Che immediately realized after he recovered from the shock of her breathtaking beauty.
Without thinking things through, the scarlet and white sword flew out from Zhang Che’s brow, directly flying towards the mysterious woman and stabbing at her.
Zhang Che didn’t dare to wait for her to make her move. He had to take the initiative and strike first, killing her before thinking about anything else!
However, in the next moment, Zhang Che’s eyes opened so wide they nearly fell out of their sockets.
Standing a hundred meters away, the woman’s figure directly scattered, turning into a mass of sparks and flying at Zhang Che. It was like the scarlet and white sword had struck the air, directly passing through and not injuring her at all.
“How is that possible!?”

Second Wind, legend of Pandemonium (Finished/Incomplete)
The developers of the worlds leading VRMMORPG Edge Online have decided to shut down its servers after over a decade. Shugireth Darkstar, the leader of Pandemonium, Edge Online's top guild, suffers from a deadly disease and his end is near. He hasn't left his VR pod for 5 years, as the medical nanodroids at the hospital takes care of him. Without Edge, he will die, because his physical body has already been all but destroyed by the sickness. Seeing no light at the end of the tunnel, Shugireth Darkstar, the Master of Pandemonium, stubbornly stays behind as the servers shut down... If that was all, we could end this story right here. However, that was only the beginning of the legend of pandemonium. The prelude to the movement, if you will. Shall we see what happens next? -------------- Some notes from Me (The author, gasp surprise): I first wrote this (100k) as an experiment. I saw the advice about having foils for overpowered MCs, and I watched quite a few lectures on writing. I wanted to test things out for myself and see if I could carry a story through other ways than only relying on physical conflict like some thrillers do. Thus this might lean a bit towards slice of life with a romance subplot, but I don't want to give my story away so read it if u want to know more. This was basically never intended for anyone else's eyes but my own, and written to explore writing as a process. This wasn't my attempt at writing a good book, but it turned into something that I think might interest some people, so I decided to pop it up here. It is slightly old so my style and writing skills have advanced considerably since I first started this thing. Having said that, I think it's pretty readable, but I am very interested in how other people will receive this. Please feel free to criticize it and just in general shoot me some feedback on what you think. It contains light Litrpg elements, not heavy table spam, it's just the basis of the world. Although I like that sort of thing, this was written before I even knew of Royalroad and hadn't considered litrpg much. Some of you may recognize that it was slightly inspired by Overlord. Also, the Tags for sexual content and traumatizing content are there as a precaution on all of my stories pretty much, even if my story does not contain any of that at the moment. I can't really know what the future will bring, but in the case of this story I do know a little bit, since I wrote 100k words before posting it here. And I just posted it on a whim because I figured some readers on Royalroad might enjoy this story.
