Chapter 356: Zhang Xiaoche, Why Do You Use Such Wicked Things?Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
Edited by Aelryinth
Zhang Che had something else he had to take care of before doing that.
Today was the weekend. Miss Tienan would be coming home from school!
Of course, that wasn’t the main point. The main point was that Zhang Che wanted to see how good she was at concocting beast card cultivation fluid now.
The three-star gold-quality Gale Wolf King and Swamp Crocodile King cards had risen to dark gold-quality over the past few days. Zhang Che wanted to let Miss Tienan try if she could successfully concoct the cultivation fluid that would advance them to mid-tier.
Although Zhang Che basically had no use for these low-tier mid-quality beast cards any more, it would only prove beneficial to him if he could raise their strength.
Well, he’d just treat it as letting Miss Tienan get some practice in.
After all, buying beast cards from outside all the time to practice formulating a recipe for the cultivation fluid cost money, didn’t it?
However, after Zhang Che looked up on the required ingredients for the two beast cards to level up, he realized that he wouldn’t be able to find so many things in a short time.
Of course, some of the ingredients could be substituted with something else.
However, Zhang Che had no knowledge at all regarding beast card cultivation. Even Huang Tielan had yet to become a full-fledged beast card cultivator herself. It wasn’t such an easy thing to find a proper substitute AND to make those two cards rank up successfully.
Helpless about it, Zhang Che could only check all his other cards that were around three-star gold-quality. In the end, he discovered that only all of the ingredients needed to rank up the Rotten Ent Prowler to four-star could be directly bought in the Bei Du market.
For the others, there would always be a couple of ingredients lacking, and substitutes needed to be found for them.

This gave Zhang Che a huge headache. They were only three-star beast cards! When he needed to level up his mid-tier beast cards in the future, wouldn’t it be even harder to find the required ingredients?
From the looks of it now, he could only hope Miss Tienan would become an accomplished beast card cultivator as soon as possible, and be able to find substitutes for the missing ingredients.
“Zhang Xiaoche, are you going to check on my homework?”
Huang Tielan was dragged to the lab the moment she returned from school. This left her a little unhappy.
This bad boy hadn’t seen her for such a long time. Shouldn’t he be acting all naughty and trying to get handsy with her?
-Why did he pull me to the lab for? Does he not believe in my hard work?
-Hmph hmph, I’ll have your jaws dropped later!-
Zhang Che felt his scalp going a little numb. -This tone of hers sounds a little off…-
He thought for a while. -Hmm? I seem to have forgotten some procedure.-
As such, Zhang Che suddenly pulled Miss Tienan into his embrace and chuckled, “Right, I’m going to check if there’s any problem with my future wife’s ‘granaries’.”
As he spoke, he pushed his chest out. When he felt a strong rebound, he lamented, “Not bad, not bad! My future wife is blessed. She’s definitely not starving!”
“Zhang Xiaoche, you’re looking to die!” A hue of red immediately colored Miss Tienan’s face. She scolded him with a smile on her face, but she took the initiative to stick her body close to Zhang Che.
“Siii…” Zhang Che almost couldn’t hold himself back. This was forcing him to commit a sin!
His hands started acting naughty.
“Hey, hey, hey. Zhang Xiaoche, you’re being a little too much…” Huang Tielan warned softly, but she didn’t move away. Instead, she brought her face closer, her red lips parted slightly, and her narrowed eyes were filled with charm.

Zhang Che only felt his mind racing. Afterwards, his disappointing heart started pumping furiously. Without a second thought, he immediately brought his tilted head closer.
“Ah!” Zhang Che cried out miserably. He hurriedly withdrew his tongue, his hands covering his mouth. Tears were welling up in his eyes from the pain.
“Hmph hmph!” Huang Tielan humphed smugly, looking at Zhang Che’s pathetic face with her head tilted. “I see if you dare to act so dishonestly again.”
Zhang Che wanted to cry, but no tears would come out.* -Where did my pure and innocent Miss Tienan go? When did she become so evil?-*
“You used so much strength! What if you bit off my tongue and made me unable to eat food in the future?”
Huang Tielan chuckled, not falling for his tricks. “If you can’t eat, just chug it down.”
Zhang Che lost all interest. Shaking his head, he walked into the lab and took out the ingredients that had just been delivered from the store.
“Come, I really do want to check on your homework today. See if you can concoct this cultivation fluid.”
While speaking, he took out the Rotten Ent Prowler card and placed it on the table.
“Eh? A three-star gold-quality card! Looks like it’ll be very challenging,” Huang Tielan said, her eyes lighting up. She walked forward with quick steps and picked up the beast card on the table, studying it carefully. Then, she suddenly asked, “Zhang Xiaoche, can you wipe off your spiritual imprint on the card? I want to see exactly what kind of subdued beast this is. I’ll be more confident when I concoct the fluid later.”
Zhang Che smiled faintly. He nodded and said, “Mhm, I already wiped it just now.”
Huang Tielan immediately held the beast card between her palms and triggered a spiritual resonance with it. Afterwards, she branded her own spiritual imprint on the card. As she willed it, a huge, savage club covered in barbs appeared in her hand.
“Wow, what a fierce beast card weapon!”
Seeing the sharp barbs covered all over the half-meter-long purplish-brown club, Huang TIelan’s body shivered uncontrollably.
If she used such a cruel weapon and dragged it along her enemy, wouldn’t she tear a big piece of flesh off their body? During the ancient warring era, those savage clubs were probably something like this…
Hearing Huang Tielan’s surprised yelp, Zhang Che chuckled and explained, “Actually, this isn’t a club.”
Huang Tielan was immediately confused. -What else could it be, if not a club?-
“Mhm, actually, this is a long whip. You can extend and shrink it as you wish,” Zhang Che introduced earnestly.
“Is that right? Feels pretty interesting!”
Miss Tienan didn’t know she was being tricked. With a thought, the club in her hand indeed extended forward and turned into a savage long whip.
She immediately grew interested. She willed it again, and the long whip quickly shrunk, becoming a club again.
Seeing her having so much fun, Zhang Che suddenly asked, “Do you like it? How about I give it to you?”
Huang Tielan bit her lower lip. After thinking for a bit, she shook her head, “Nah, I don’t know how to use a whip. I’ll be fine with the Mutated Puffersword.”
Zhang Che chuckled, “It’s fine! The whip has an idiot-proof skill. You can use it well even without learning it!”
Huang Tielan’s eyes lit up instantly. The skill of such a whip must be very powerful, right?
When she heard Zhang Che explain the skill, “Poison Drill”¹, no matter how innocent Miss Tienan was, she finally sensed something amiss. As such, she suddenly raised the whip and lashed it at Zhang Che.
“You’re disgusting, Zhang Xiaoche. Why do you use such a wicked thing?”

Tales of the Legendary Scholar
They meet in the most unlikely moment and turned their life around. Freidrech newly arrived in his own nation's capital city, which is so foreign to him compared to his village's idyllic and nondiscriminatory atmosphere, after he is forced to come. Now, he is facing a royal prince and tells him to bow. This draws out one of his late father's teachings from the deepest recesses in his mind. "The blood of your great ancestors runs in your veins. Don't easily bow down to anyone, or accept suppression by any being, not even from a monarch, unless you pledge your allegiance to him. Also, giving in to oppression is directly telling the oppressor that you're easy prey and open for manipulation." He is uncertain on how to face this oppression right now. Will he bows or not? What will he do to uphold his father's words while keeping his life safe? As for the prince, Theodrech has nothing to do with Freidrech, so he wishes to let this slip, but the boy opens his mouth and proposes the most ludicrous challenge he ever heard and triggers his curiosity. "I, Freidrech Goederf Gerboud, son of the late Village Chief Louvel Gerboud of Wrilon, will challenge you, Your Highness, to a battle of riddles… If you win, I will not only bow but be your servant for the rest of my life." This amuses the prince. It is the first he met a boy of the same age who is not intimidated by the air of authority he projects. Rather, this boy challenges him. "Why are you so headstrong? In fact, bowing to me is an honor. You saw the King's noble Knights. When they saw me, they bowed," says Theodrech, testing Freidrech. "Allow me to be forward, Your Highness. For me, bowing to a monarch does not guarantee loyalty. If I were you, I rather have men who stand straight in my presence but who got my back, than bowing men who are dreaming of my death," replies Freidrech. The prince’s curiosity increases. A huge smile is seen on his face. Prince Theodrech decides to take Freidrech under his wing. Little did they know, this boy who Prince Theodrech takes in as his confidant and friend in the most ridiculous fashion is someone indispensable in his life and the one who can help him succeed the throne when he almost believes he has lost. Thus, the Tales of the Legendary Scholar begins. ------ o ------ Old Synopsis: A famous ancient adage stated, behind a successful man is a woman BUT… In these lands, the monarchs are seeking not a woman to stand behind them but the man hailed as the Legendary Scholar.
