Chapter 254: We Are Totally Speechless

Well, Zhang Che had to admit: when it came to killing these exotic beasts that weren’t guaranteed to drop beast cards, he was indeed very unlucky…
-Luckily the high level, high quality exotic beasts are sure to drop beast cards, or I would have cried myself to death!- Zhang Che lamented as he continued moving. The Mutated Puffersword turned into a blurred silhouette, the surrounding Long-Mouthed Jackals not daring to come any closer.
After paying the price of two wounds on his body, Zhang Che finally bested the ten Long-Mouthed Jackals one by one, killing them in quick succession.
Just as he was about to ask Liu Gang to let another fifteen jackals in, he saw with a side glance that the three of them were about to give in to the continued assault, each of them having suffered several wounds.
“Zhang-shao, don’t be in a hurry to summon your subdued beasts. This is a rare opportunity. Come help us defend one side; we’ll coordinate with you!” Liu Gang hurriedly said when he saw Zhang Che was about to summon his subdued beasts.
There was no better scenario to train one’s close combat skills.
The exotic beasts weren’t exactly strong; they were unable to cause any serious injuries to Zhang Che, but their numbers were high. To deal with them, their positioning and timing had to be very precise.
Liu Gang believed that if Zhang Che could get through this, the latter’s close combat skills would soar.
“Me? You guys must have no regard for human life!”
Zhang Che was caught in a rough spot. Seeing Liu Gang open a gap in the formation, a large group of Long-Mouthed Jackals would swarm towards him if he didn’t go fill the spot immediately. When that happened, he would have no choice but to summon his subdued beasts to deal with the situation.
-I’ll just do it; I’ll think of another way if it’s really impossible to deal with!-
Zhang Che tensed his legs, and rushed forward like a cannonball. The Mutated Puffersword turned into a blur, forcing a few of the agitated Large-Mouthed Jackals back.

With Zhang Che joining in on the formation, not only did their line of defense not stabilize, but due to his inability to coordinate with the others, a large opening in their defense was created.
Zhang Che immediately heard a low grunt from the side. He saw that a jackal had bitten deep into Pang Dazhi’s calf, who was unable to shake it off no matter how hard he tried. Meanwhile, he still had to continue warding off continuous assaults with his blade, with no time to free himself from his predicament.
“I’ll come help you!” Zhang Che shouted. His knees flew up and sent two Long-Mouthed Jackals flying, his sword stabbed out and pierced into a jackal’s ear drum, followed by a swipe, slicing off the head of the beast.
The situation gradually stabilized. Zhang Che’s coordination with the others was also improving, slowly gaining back control.
Suddenly, a sorrowful cry rang out deep in the valley. All the Long-Mouthed Jackals quickly gave up and retreated like the passing of a wave.
“Brother Liu, should we give chase?” Zhang Che asked, anticipating the hunt.
After this short yet intense battle, he felt that his understanding of his father-in-law’s sword style had deepened by several times.
“Forget it; don’t bother chasing. Who knows how many more of them are in there? It’s not worth wasting our time here,” Liu Gang shook his head, putting his beast card weapon away. Afterwards, the three of them retrieved their medicinal sprays from their backpacks and started to tend to their wounds.
“Wait a second.”
Liu Gang and the others stopped what they were doing in unison, looking at Zhang Che, puzzled. Immediately after, they saw a five-colored ray of light shot out from between the kid’s brows and materialized into a white horse with a sharp spiral horn.
Liu Gang, Pang Dazhi, and Yi Chong were all speechless.
-Exactly how many more legend-quality subdued beasts does this kid have!?-
They lost their ability to speak, their faces filled with grief. Compared to Zhang-shao’s subdued beasts, theirs were as good as trash that could be thrown away!

-Not right! Why did Zhang-shao summon a subdued beast? Could it be…-
The three of them exchanged glances silently, thinking of an extremely envious possibility.
As expected, a milky white splendor suddenly gathered on the tip of the white horse’s horn. Afterwards, it divided into four masses of light, enveloping the four of them.
Liu Gang and the others felt as if their bodies were soaked in a comfortable hot tub of water, a mysterious energy circulating in them. Not only were their new wounds fully healed, even their fatigued bodies were rejuvenated to their peak condition.
The effect was simply miraculous!
However, none of them showed any signs of happiness on their faces. Instead, they were glum. -Damn it, I don’t feel like I have the face to continue living following such a person…-
Not only that, Liu Gang and the others even thought that they might be having it too easy recently, and so the general purposefully found a young man to stimulate them!
After healing up their injuries, the four of them continued walking deeper into this area.
The exotic beasts they encountered from then on didn’t gather in groups. Liu Gang and the others just basically watched from the sidelines, while forbidding Zhang Che from using his powerful subdued beast. They only allowed him to fight the exotic beasts with his sword, further solidifying what he had learned today.
Also, as a responsible captain, Liu Gang would point out the mistakes Zhang Che committed in his fights, benefitting him.
The only depressing part was that the vast majority of the exotic beasts he killed turned into streaks of light and dissipated. Very few of them actually dropped beast cards.
This left Liu Gang and the others wondering if this Zhang-shao’s luck all went to discovering powerful exotic beasts? Otherwise, how could he explain his many legend-quality subdued beasts at such a young age?
Looks of envy and jealousy showed on their faces. When it was time for dinner, Liu Gang and the others silently let out long sighs of relief.
Liu Gang’s pet black tiger had hunted down an exotic beast weighing over two hundred kilograms. In the end, more than half of it went into Zhang Che’s stomach, surprising them again.
-Lucky, lucky, if we were big eaters like this kid, we’d probably starve to death in the beast world. Gods know how this kid brings such massive amounts of food along when he travels deep into the beast world alone…-
However, thinking up to that point, the looks on their faces changed again.
-Doesn’t that mean that there are spatial-type beast card on Zhang-shao he uses to bring his supplies around?-
Liu Gang and the others immediately felt that the accumulation of setbacks they experienced in their whole lives couldn’t match up to what they had gone through today…
———-
After eating their fill, they didn’t continue on their journey. Instead, they found a place easy to defend and set up camp there. The danger of the beast world at night was common knowledge to all. Although the four of them were sufficiently strong, they still didn’t dare to challenge this iron rule.
Lying in his sleeping bag, Zhang Che didn’t go to sleep immediately. Instead, he kept thinking back to everything he learned today, summarizing what he still needed to improve on.
He realized that although he had improved by a large margin today, there was still quite a long way to go for him to fight as skillfully and easily as Liu Gang and the others. Their skill wasn’t something he could catch up to in the foreseeable future.
This was the precious experience they accumulated through months and years of combat. How could it be something he could learn in a day or two?
However, as long as he continued training like this, it wouldn’t be too long before he reached a height similar to them!
Zhang Che showed a confident smile, closing his eyes, slowly slipping into the lands of dreams.
In his dreams, he realized he had become a super god of combat, beating up that divine bird with lightning all over its body and a wingspan of over a hundred meters, turning it into his pet…

... And My Skillet
A long time ago, a child was born under the great blue sky. Many a Dwarf grumbled at the auspicious event, tugging furtively at their beards at this ill omen. A year later as the expedition had begun digging into the virgin hills of their new home, the grumbling of the doughty mountain people rose to a disbelieving furor when the yearling passed over the ritual offerings that would determine his lot in life. Instead, the as of yet unnamed child crawled over to a skillet fresh out of the fire and begun picking at the rock bread, unconcerned with the heat. Shouts turned into laughter, frowns lifted into craggy smiles. Upon placing a handful of the bread into his mouth, the infant’s face grew so grim and stony not even the eldest of the present Dwarves could match him. There was a durable ore within this babe, of that the Lore Keeper was sure. Yumly Ironhand was thus named, the beginning of his great tale immortalized on the rune walls of his clan’s history. “It’s pronounced Yoom Lee and no, rock bread isn’t a misnomer.”

Medieval Terror
[Trickle! Trickle!] Blood… Pure unfiltered blood. Thick wetness of inhumane variety was drowning the contours of my defiled countenance with crimson slick. My warrior’s mien was brutally decorated with the vile viscera and entrails of the dead. Scattered all around me was a large pile of corpses floating in the bloodthirsty puddle of the afterlife. Accompanying my rest within this detestable domain was a rapacious array of lord Beelzebub’s kin. A swarm of black motile embodiment capable of aerial drifts made my bloody appearance barely visible. [Buzz! Buzz!] I was dead yet living, I could travel between the broken realms of existence and meddle with the vengeful souls. Such was possible by virtue of my life that had succumbed to the Lure of Enigma. The bizarre events that unfolded which brought me to this destitute phase of utter dysphoria was a mixture of tales that will leave a distasteful flavour of doleful buds on your tongue. If you wish to know more about my apocalyptic journey then feel free to turn the pages of my undying path. However, I must warn you, inquisitive readers. My legendary tale might cause your weak constitution to become cripple, hence read at your own peril. DarkBoi69's mediocre, rushed and badly-written aventure
Follow DarkBoi69's edgy adventure as I move him through a shitty plot where he meets terribly-written characters like angry evil stupid villains and naive cute useless busty women. This story is not really an actual serious story but simply a writing exercise for me to focus on overall writing speed, forcefully insert some writing in my everyday life to increase productivity and most importantly help with turning ideas, thoughts or feelings into writing directly without feeling blocked, hopefully trying to achieve something as close as possible to writing unconsciously what i’m thinking about. I'll probably try to do something like writing as much in 30 mins as I can, nearly every-day. So far I've only done this once and it already seems like a pretty good thing to do. I don’t have anything planned and that’s probably going to be a constant for every one of these exercises, so it’ll end up being not very good (although maybe better than it has any right to be? ) and nonsensical.
