Chapter 236: Gone With the Wind When Done

Loud alarms rang throughout the entire base.
Just like that, Zhang Che ran towards the elevator wearing the purple tortoise armor, wielding the Scarlet Meteorite Huge Sword, with the deep blue Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon at his side.
Squad upon squad of fully-armored guards appeared from everywhere in the tunnels, firing the weapons in their hands.
Zhang Che ignored them all, continuing to his destination.
The Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon breathed out stream after stream of icy air, each breath freezing a guard on the spot without exception.
After watching the security cameras, the person in charge of the base knew that ordinary guards had no way of stopping Zhang Che. As such, large-caliber weapons hidden in the walls slid out from concealed slots, unleashing a rain of explosive shells at Zhang Che.
Not only that, even high energy lasers were shooting at Zhang Che’s purple crystal armor.
However, such attacks weren’t able to hurt him at all, nor were the weapons able to injure the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon at his side.
Superalloy barriers quickly fell into place one after another, but Zhang Che cut them open one by one with single swings of the Scarlet Meteorite Huge Sword.
At this moment, Zhang Che was like an unstoppable purple demon, rampaging his way through everything.
The elevator leading to the surface had its power source cut, but was not a problem that could stump Zhang Che.
With a few swings of the Scarlet Meteorite Huge Sword, the elevator cabin was turned into a ruin, revealing the shaft up. A lash of the Rotten Ent Prowler whip pulled Zhang Che up to the exit.
The last line of defense was now before him.
It was a several-meter-thick superalloy gate, able to withstand armor-piercing missiles, closed up and standing before Zhang Che.
Above him were a few dozen high-energy laser machines operating at maximum capacity, shooting beam after beam of high temperature lasers at Zhang Che’s purple crystal armor, but they were all reflected off of him.

However, the Purple Crystal Tortoise’s defense against pure energy attacks wasn’t perfect. Zhang Che could feel the armor’s surface slowly heating up.
If this continued on, even if the armor could continue defending him from their attacks, the super high temperature would roast him alive!
“Open!” Zhang Che raised his Scarlet Meteorite Huge Sword up high. The Unparalleled Sharpness skill was activated, the blade emitting a scarlet light.
The sword slashed down heavily at the superalloy gate, directly carving out an opening. Zhang Che didn’t stop his motions. He raised his sword again, slashing down at the gate repeatedly.
Before the ten second duration of the skill was up, he cut a huge opening out of the several-meter-thick super alloy gate. Zhang Che brought the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon and passed through.
From there, it was a free man’s world!
Zhang Che didn’t continue showing off, and directly jumped onto the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon’s back. This terrifying dragon let out a resounding roar and flew straight through the encirclement of bullets and laser beams, coming out to the factory on the surface, and directly soared into the sky under the frightened, yet relieved gazes of the guards.
Once the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon was up in the sky, Zhang Che had the Purple Crystal Tortoise dispel its skill. Afterwards, with a thought, he had the Purple Crystal Tortoise shoot out the rocket it swallowed previously.
Rumble! The rocket directly crashed down into the factory, exploding into a mass of fire and smoke. Afterwards, the surrounding flammable objects all ignited, the fire quickly spreading out.
The Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon brought forth his greatest speed, leaving the now-chaotic secret base behind.
——
About a quarter of an hour later, a deep blue silhouette suddenly descended from the sky onto a desolate hill. The mighty aura it emanated immediately woke up the low-tier exotic beasts in the area, and they ran away down the hill in fear.
Zhang Che jumped off the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon’s back, looking at the mid-tier beastmaster still held unconscious in his pet’s claws. He directly summoned the Psychedelic Ghost-Patterned Butterfly and had it cast the Enchant skill on him.

“I hope this works…” Zhang Che mumbled. Afterwards, he slapped the mid-tier beastmaster hard, immediately waking him up.
The awakened mid-tier beastmaster didn’t make any sound. His eyes were clouded, as if he had lost his soul.
“It really does work!” Zhang Che pumped his fist excitedly. In the next moment, he was suddenly at a loss about what to do.
Although he knew a little bit of English, he had no idea how to order this guy to wipe away his spiritual imprint on the beast card, nor did he have any idea on how to ask him about Chen Qikun.
“Looks like there’s no choice but to bring him back to Chen Lishan,” Zhang Che sighed. He knocked out the pitiful mid-tier beastmaster again, mounting up and riding the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon back to the edge of San Diego. After that, he stole a car from someone and left a useless beast card behind as compensation, then drove straight towards Chen Lishan’s place.
———-
When he alighted, he picked up the mid-tier beastmaster in one arm and ran a few hundred meters before arriving at Chen Lishan’s apartment.
Seeing Zhang Che bringing someone else back, Chen Lishan couldn’t help but feel curious. “Ah, you’re back, Brother Sun. This is..?”
Although she couldn’t see this man’s face, from his skin and his hair color, Chen Lishan could immediately tell that this man was Caucasian. It was impossible for him to be her brother… so why did Zhang Che bring him back?
However, Zhang Che didn’t answer her question. He summoned the Psychedelic Ghost-Patterned Butterfly once more, and repeated the casting of the Enchant skill on this pitiful beastmaster again. Afterwards, he fetched a ladle of water from the kitchen and splashed it over the man’s face, then turned to Chen Lishan and said, “Get him to wipe away his spiritual imprint on all his beast cards, then ask him about your brother. See if he knows anything.”
Chen Lishan immediately understood the situation. When the mid-tier beastmaster woke up, she directly commanded him as per Zhang Che’s instructions.
Soon, a total of five cards with their spiritual imprint wiped away were handed to Zhang Che, including the Unicorn beast card.
“I finally got it!” Zhang Che trembled with excitement. He immediately activated the Unicorn card and stashed it in his spiritual sea, branding it with his spiritual imprint.
The remaining four cards, however, were all ordinary stuff. Zhang Che had no interest in them at all.
From the looks of it, this guy was only responsible for healing the test subjects whose bodies were about to break down, while he himself had no strength worth mentioning.
As his excitement faded, Zhang Che suddenly heard Chen Lishan’s suppress weeping sounds from the side. He sighed inwardly and asked, “How is it? Did you get any news on your brother?”
Chen Lishan could no longer control herself upon hearing Zhang Che’s question. She jumped into Zhang Che’s embrace and wailed out loud, “Brother Sun, my brother… my brother was killed by them! Wuuhuuhuu…”
Zhang Che’s face froze. He didn’t push Chen Lishan, who was about to crumble, away. He only raised his hand and tousled her hair, consoling her.
——
The next morning, Zhang Che boarded the sky shuttle airplane heading from San Diego to the Hua Xia region’s Bei Du City, along with Chen Lishan.
-Hua Xia, I’m coming home!-

Life, the struggle for existence
What would happen when man had to, once again, fight for its own right to live? Would the evolutionary counterparts of our ancestors manage to life through the struggle for survival? What would happen to society if a new reason for living came up, other than the enjoyment of the well-built environment? A reason that could either unite or destroy humanity. This is the struggle for their right of existence. As earth and its inhabitants are faced with the fear of unknown danger and the peril of monstrosities, some will falter, some will die and some will live on to tell the tales of those forgotten. As reality dictates, most will be part of the first two groups and only a small faction will be part of the latter. *This is my first attempt at writing fantasy, so I do hope you’ll enjoy it. The story is one of apocalyptic nature, with gigantic monsters, unfathomable powers and also a critial view on humanity and what it means to be human. I will definitely try to stay away from any tropes that are not neccesary to write fantasy, as I thoroughly despise non-creativity. There shall be no harems, no unrealistic behavior and absolutely no standard scene of dimwitted bandits that try to rob whatever similarly rock-brained princess they encounter. The main character is not black and white, because no human is completely good or completely evil. They’re human, not some idealistic concept of what one is supposed to be. Enjoy!Warning: Tagged 17+ for the occasional strong language and violence, some mild sexual content can occur in the distant future.

Reincarnated As A Benevolent Tyrant
NOTICE: This story is under rewrite. New novel has been published. Search **RE: Tyranny** in Royalroad for the new novel.Link- Re: Tyranny Thank You! ------------------------ "Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory." What a brilliant line, isn't it? James was a boy who had nothing to worry about. A happy family, a nice childhood. What's more to ask? But one day, everything changed. He lost everything in the blink of an eye. The only thing left for him were the memories and dreams of the past. Trying to cope up with the loss, he cut all ties with the outside world and became a shut-in, having no one left to call his own or to rely upon. There was nothing left for him in this world, but still he lived and soon found a purpose in his life, which lead him to create something that could change the world. And on the very day when his dream project was about to come to the light, he lost his life, trying to save a little girl from an unfortunate accident. "Will I ever be remembered...? I wish... someone would." These were the last word James mumbled before his conscious faded into darkness. But his life didn't end there, as he is transmigrated into the body of an arrogant, worthless Duke's son in some unknown land with no memories about who is or any idea about where he is. In an era of political turmoil and civil strife, the Duke's son is forced to prove his worth for inheriting the title. Will he be able to accept the new reality and prove himself by leading this country into a prosperous future? Or will he cease to the pressure of his past and lose everything once more? Disclaimer: This is not a power-fantasy or a 'feel-good' story. If you feel a protagonist should never lack agency (especially in early story) or make compromises because of difficult circumstances, then this fiction is probably not for you. It is a story that delves deep into real world sociological/psychological subjects and explores many topics of gray morality. I wrote it because I like stories that make me think more about the world around us, not to detach myself from reality. Some aspects you can expect based on the tags include:- [Kingdom Building]: political drama, geopolitical/geoeconomic strategy- [Army Building]: massive battles featuring in-depth planning, combined arms, and operational logistics- [Identity Crisis]: someone translated into a whole different world having to rebuild their identity and life aims The story starts off slowly, more like a slice of life than action-adventure, but I guarantee you it will get there. For those who want to skip the slow part, start from Chapter - 35 (Beginning of The End) (The whole Disclaimer section is copied from Aorii as I am too busy writing the complete story.) And yes, just for General Knowledge, James will become OP throughout the story. He is not some legendary guy who will pull out Excalibur & conquer the entire world. Update Schedule - One chapter a day. This novel is also available on Scribble Hub. And again, I humbly thank you for reading it. I hope you stick throughout the journey.
