Chapter 227: Passed Test

The next day, the group woke up early. After packing their belongings, they set off in the direction of the safety zone.
After their narrow escape from death yesterday, Chen Lishan and the others were not interested in remaining in the beast world any longer. Zhang Che was in a hurry to exit the beast world as well to contact his mom, telling her about him being safe.
After what happened last night, Monica didn’t try to tease Zhang Che any more, allowing him to breathe a long sigh of relief.
Zhang Che was really worried that he would give in to the temptation with such a beautiful woman constantly teasing him. It was not like he was Liuxia Hui; how could he possibly not have any reactions?¹
“Hey, Sun, can you help us hunt some beast cards on our way back? We’ll pay you for them when we get back to San Diego.”
On their way back, after they saw the silver armor on Zhang Che, the huge sword he wielded, the Purple Jade Condor flying over their heads, and the Gale Wolf King following at their side, the faces of Jenny and the others were filled with envy.
Their subdued beasts were all killed by that Copper-Scaled Lion yesterday evening. Naturally they didn’t wish to return empty-handed. As such, Jenny took the initiative and made the request of Zhang Che.
Zhang Che had a confused look on his face. How could he possibly understand her?
Although his predecessor’s English level was still passable, that was only limited to the books. Hearing and speaking the language was another problem on its own.
“Jenny was asking if Brother Sun can help us hunt some beast cards on our way back. We’ll pay for them when we get back to San Diego,” Chen Lishan hurriedly translated for Zhang Che with a smile.
“No problem, it’s no trouble at all,” Zhang Che nodded in agreement. No one would ever think that they have too much money.

“Hah, thank you so much, Sun!”
Jenny and the others immediately showed bright smiles on their faces.
They had witnessed for themselves yesterday how Zhang Che cut down a three-star gold-quality exotic beast without relying on any combat-type subdued beasts. On their way back, as long as they encountered exotic beasts, they could get as many beast cards as they wanted!
Of course, what they had a greater desire for was the Copper-Scaled Lion Zhang Che obtained yesterday evening. However, they knew that beastmasters would seldom let go of a beast card of such caliber, so they didn’t mention it.
Who knew what they would think if they were to learn that the Copper-Scaled Lion was only an ordinary beast in Zhang Che’s eyes?
——–
On their way back, due to them getting closer and closer to the safety zone, they didn’t encounter any powerful exotic beasts. In the end, Zhang Che couldn’t even be bothered to take action himself. He left all the work to the two Original Combat Body-type subdued beasts he Summoned out.
Facing the Purple Jade Condor and the Gale Wolf King’s combined hunting, the exotic beasts they met on the way could be said to be terribly unlucky. None of the exotic beasts they saw had any hopes of making it out alive.
Thus, Jenny and the others’ screams and cheers never stopped.
“Woah, you’re too awesome, Sun!”
“Oh, oh, let me see. This is a three-star silver-quality card! Don’t fight with me; this is mine!”
“….”
The beast cards dropped on their way back, especially the “good stuff” at silver-quality, left the three Caucasian women happily fighting for them.
Chen Lishan, who had been walking by Zhang Che’s side, however, was very quiet.
Zhang Che turned to her and asked, “Don’t you need them?”
Chen Lishan smiled faintly, “I’ll just take whatever is left from their pickings.”
Zhang Che didn’t ask why. They weren’t that close yet; some things couldn’t be asked so casually.

Just like that, they slaughtered their ways back until noon. The safety zone was finally in sight, although it was still some distance away.
During their journey back, the Purple Jade Condor slaughtered and obtained over thirty beast cards. The three-star silver-quality beast cards amounted to five!
What made Jenny and the others even more excited was that they were lucky enough to obtain a three-star gold-quality beast card, leading to an intense “fight” for it.
As they came closer and closer to the safety zone, Zhang Che and the others came across a number of beastmaster groups. Seeing their strange one-man-four-women party left many of the men dying from envy.
However, one look was all they needed to know that the Purple Jade Condor and the Gale Wolf King combo wasn’t simple. No one was stupid enough to come find trouble with them.
Even if someone was really dumb enough to want to attempt something, they would get smacked by their companions.
For example, there was a big black guy in a beastmaster group whose eyes turned red with lust when he saw Chen Lishan and the others. Just as he was about to say something, his companion smacked him in the back of his head.
“Damn it, Porter, is your sperm getting to your brain again? Didn’t you see how powerful that kid’s subdued beasts are? Don’t drag us along if you want to die!”
The safety zone was nearly upon them. Zhang Che grew agitated. Once he got out of the safety zone, he could contact his mother and Miss Tienan!
———–
At this moment, Miss Tienan was in a workshop, her face serious. She had extracted the essence out of various plants, then mixed them with several other ingredients from the beast world into a petri dish according to a specific sequence.
Time slowly passed by. When all of the ingredients’ essences were added in without any bad signs occuring, Huang Tielan finally revealed a relaxed smile on her face.
First, she let out a long breath, then went into motion once more. She placed the petri dish into the heating apparatus, heating the fluid up to close to its boiling point.
The murky fluid slowly cooled down, and finally turned clear, like a faint purple alcohol, the cultivation fluid finally considered done.
-Just one last step remaining!- Excitement flashed in Huang Tielan’s eyes. She carefully immersed a two-star bronze-quality beast card into the cultivation fluid, then quickly covered the petri dish. Afterwards, she used a vacuum machine to draw out all the air inside and waited patiently at the side.
An hour later, the cultivation fluid’s faint purple hue finally disappeared without a trace. Looking in from the glass, the bronze-quality beast card now had three hexagrams on it.
“Yeah, I did it!” Huang Tielan cheered softly in excitement. After she took out the beast card from the petri dish, she immediately pressed a button on the workshop table.
The door to the workshop silently opened. Miss Tielan brought the beast card and walked out with light, cheerful steps…
“Congratulations, Huang Tielan. You’ve successfully passed the test and became one of our Bei Du University’s beast card cultivation major’s upcoming freshman. Please report to the school at the end of this month; you’ll be taking part in the freshman enrollment training.”
“Thank you!” Huang Tielan thanked the examiner with a bow, then walked out of the test building under the looks of jealousy and envy of many others, heading towards the Bei Du University’s gates.
As she walked out, Miss Tienan opened up her personal terminal and sent a call request to Sun Lan.
“Auntie, I passed my test!”
