Chapter 221: Advance to Tier Five

In Qian Wei City, outside the gates of a certain district…
Four teenagers came together. After they entered the district, they headed straight to the property management building.
It was exactly noon right now. There was only a middle-aged man in the property management center, looking bored stiff sitting at the desk, smoking.
Suddenly, four youngsters in their late teens walked in together. The frontmost, a handsome man, asked with a faint smile, “Big brother, may I ask where does Zhang Che live? We’re his friends and came to look for him during the summer vacation.”
-Big brother?- The man looked at the four youngsters. Then, he reached for his beard, caressing it, his mood instantly much brighter.
-Hmm, I’m still young, aren’t I? Didn’t these youngsters just call me big brother?
-Those teenager girls in this district are the annoying ones, always calling me uncle. Don’t they know that my mental age is actually not that far from theirs?-
“Zhang Che, is it? Let me see…”
The four youngsters were obviously students. Naturally the middle-aged man wouldn’t suspect them of ulterior motives. Moreover, there were security measures in place in this district. He wasn’t afraid that a few mere kids would cause any sort of trouble.
“I’ll be troubling you then, big brother.” Zheng Hongru expressed his gratitude, showing another faint smile.
The man nodded without any emotion, and operated the computer before him for a short while. Afterwards, he looked up to Zheng Hongru and the others with a strange expression, asking, “Are you really Zhang Che’s schoolmates?”
Everyone of them revealed doubtful looks on their faces, nodding subconsciously.
The man sighed, saying, “Then I suppose you guys probably aren’t that close. They moved a few days ago, and have employed a professional housekeeping company to clean it every so often. You’re too late.”
Zheng Hongru and the others exchanged gazes with one another, thinking inwardly, -Could it be that Brother Che’s mother was unwilling to believe that something untoward had happened to him, and thus rushed over to Bei Du personally to search for him?-

“Then, may I ask big brother, where did they move to?”
“This… I seem to recall hearing about them moving over to Bei Du’s side. I’m not exactly sure which city, though.”
Zheng Hongru and the others exchanged glances again.
-As expected, Brother Che’s mother really went to find him!
-Looks like we have to make another trip back to Jin City. After Brother Che’s mother found out about the news, she’d surely go to Jin City. It shouldn’t be hard to find her if we ask around.
-But what do we say after we find her?
-Say that the strange black door appeared and only vacuumed Brother Che in, and ignored the rest of us who were right next to him?-
“Thank you big brother!” The four youngster’s faces turned complicated. After they thanked the middle-aged man, they left the little district with heavy steps.
“Ai, youngsters nowadays…” the middle-aged man sighed inexplicably when he saw Zheng Hongru and the others leaving.

“Hurry, hurry! Continue killing! I can sense that I might advance to Tier Five today!”
Zhang Che remained in the area for another six days. His luck was pretty good, and he managed to hunt large amounts of four and five-stars exotic beasts every day. Seeing the accumulation of soul force points about to reach its peak, Zhang Che grew so excited that he commanded his babies to slaughter a group of four and five-star low-quality exotic beasts ahead.
Speaking of which, the exotic beasts in this area were really unlucky. They thought they finally found a place with not many high-quality exotic beasts around, suitable for their survival. In the end, a group of demons appeared out of nowhere, searching and wiping out their puny existences every day. Truly, there weren’t any tears, even if they wanted to cry!
On the other hand, Zhang Che naturally found great pleasure in all this. He didn’t know another place with a population of mid-tier low-quality exotic beasts as concentrated as they were here!

Originally, he thought it would take quite a long while before he rose to Tier Five. To his surprise, he spent barely two weeks and he was already close to the breaking point.
As expected, steeling his heart to not return so soon had its merits!
“Haha, I can use the Scarlet Meteorite Huge Sword soon! Just thinking about it excites me!”
Once he rose to Tier Five, he could cover up the weakness of his paltry personal combat strength. The Scarlet Meteorite Huge Sword’s destructive power was simply off the charts! Zhang Che was confident that with it, he could take on an ordinary mid-tier dark gold-quality exotic beast alone, given that it wasn’t too big for him.
Of course, he could forget about taking on something with the Steel-Armored Tyrannosaurus’ size. Just a stomp from it and he would be turned into meat paste if he didn’t dodge in time.
Also, once Zhang Che rose to Tier Five, his spiritual sea would expand again. He would be able to employ three more beasts, and he would be able to use the Seven Star Silver Beetle armor, greatly improving his defensive strength!
Thinking of that, there really were many advantages to it!
In order to raise his efficiency of hunting exotic beasts, during this period of time Zhang Che didn’t care about whether he could get many beast cards or not. He even had his powerful pets, the Darkfiend Abyssal Dragon and Steel-Armored Tyrannosaurus, going around killing.
In any case, Zhang Che really didn’t care much for non-high-quality beast cards now.
The beast cards could only be sold for money, anyway. Despite losing a mountain of purple-gold crystal, Alliance dollars were only a bunch of numbers to Zhang Che now.
What he needed was those high-grade materials, or even natural treasures. Those were things that couldn’t be exchanged for with ordinary beast cards, no matter the amount.
Since these ordinary beast cards no longer had much meaning to him, Zhang Che would naturally choose to kill as many exotic beasts as possible, raising his beastmaster tier to Tier Five as soon as possible.
As there were no other beastmasters in this area, Zhang Che totally let himself loose, allowing all his subdued beasts and pets, close to a dozen in number, to spread out in a one kilometer radius and sweep through the area.
Finally, when the sky was starting to turn dark, Zhang Che felt an explosion in his spiritual sea. Afterwards, he felt his entire body had become a little different.
He knew that he had finally risen to Tier Five!

Zhang Che immediately took out the Scarlet Meteorite Huge Sword card. After he successfully triggered a spiritual resonance with it and branded it with his spiritual imprint, he Summoned it out.
It was no different from when it was wielded by the insect. The Scarlet Meteorite Huge Sword was two meters long, its widest part twenty centimeters across, and its thickest area close to five centimeters. The sword was entirely black in color, with concentrated scarlet starry dots in a pattern on it, giving it a faint scarlet glow.
Even though a beast card weapon could align itself with the beastmaster, when wielding the Scarlet Meteorite Huge Sword, Zhang Che still felt it was heavy in his hand.
This was simply a weapon made for killing!

Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes

Some time ago, a planes-traveling archmage made up a video game to train some people on the planet Earth for the catastrophe he knew was coming. That game was the Power of Ten. The gods seized this opportunity to take the templates of some of those characters, and even their souls, for use in other worlds, and other realms. Sama Rantha is one of those characters, and is going to find out that being a Hagchild and having to survive after your Hag Curse fails to murder you at birth is much, much less fun than setting it as your Race at level One on a gamescreen. Join Sama Rantha on her Road to Ten, and letting her Hagmother know exactly what she thinks of her... ------ Warning: This book starts with a HARD OPEN! It was written as an extension of other stories that have not made it onto the Internet yet for National Novel Writing Month in Nov/2018. The beginning chapters will be heavy with gaming terms and the supporting math as Sama exploits the rules as much as possible, minmaxing her heart out to get one up on the world trying to kill her. The math and rules lawyering tapers off, but are never eliminated, as Sama is going to do everything she can to exploit the rules of reality here and not die, while making sure those responsible for this get exactly what is coming to them... ------ Book Two, The Far Future (starting Ch. 286): The Warp, the final frontier; in the grim darkness of a galaxy far far away, there came a hagchild...QX! Sci-fi/Fantasy/psionics mashup, grimbright clashing with grimdark!
