Chapter 140: Chapter 140 – Exploring the Cave Again
Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
Edited by RED
Zhang Che kept the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon away from the battle, all to prepare for this moment.
The Purple Jade Condor’s battle strength would be reduced by half if he let the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander return to the cave, and it would be impossible to kill.
Also, judging from how the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander was acting so apprehensive of the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon’s arctic breath, although the arctic breath wouldn’t be able to kill it, but it would surely affect its movements to a large degree, making it afraid of letting the arctic breath hit it.
The Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander was running madly for its life, and only discovered the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon was lying in wait for it when it was about to reach the cave entrance.
“Sii…” The Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander let out a long, angry hiss at the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon, its eyes revealing hints of fear, and it slowed down at once.
It might have lowered its speed, but the Purple Jade Condor didn’t, and caught up to the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander in the blink of an eye. The Purple Jade Condor ran its glowing wing across the back of the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander, adding another wound to it. Fresh blood had now dyed the entire lower half of the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander’s body red.
The Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander couldn’t care about the obstacle ahead that was the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon anymore. Facing the threat of death, it could only steel itself and charge right towards the cave entrance.
The Cold Abyss Flood Dragon, ready and waiting all this while at the cave entrance, sucked in a breath of air and opened its mouth wide, breathing out a large cone of frosty white cold air.
This was not the end, however. The Cold Abyss Flood Dragon’s mouth was like a pair of bellows, pumping out endless clouds of arctic breath, decorating the entrance of the cave with a mass of frosty mist. Tiny ice particles could be vaguely seen amidst the mist, showing how cold it was around the area.

The Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander was dumbstruck after seeing this. As a creature vulnerable to ice elemental attacks, its body couldn’t help but started trembling before it even got close to the entrance, the movements of its limbs becoming stiffer.
Alas, it didn’t have a choice. It had to charge right in if it wanted to live.
Getting a frost injury was much better than being killed, right?
Thus, the pitiful Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander could only brace itself and charged into the dense layer of arctic breath.
“Si…” The Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander let out a long hiss from the cold. Its body stiffened uncontrollably, and its speed fell sharply, resulting in it receiving a smack on the face from the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon’s claw, and it flew a few meters backwards.
“Hanming, you’re actually this violent!” Zhang Che, quickly running towards them, felt his gums going numb as he watched the events unfold. The Cold Abyss Flood Dragon didn’t have a huge body, but unexpectedly possessed such explosive strength! How promising!
The Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander was smacked silly from the hit before. As it regained orientation and was about to find another direction to run in, it suddenly felt one of its legs held in place by something and tried to pull, but wasn’t able to free its leg.
At this moment, Zhang Che was tightly gripping the handle of the Rotten Ent Prowler whip with both hands, the muscles on his body tensed with exertion, his face bright red, keeping the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander from breaking free.
Despite his body being altered to a superhuman degree, he was far from contending against a large three-star dark gold-quality exotic beast.
However, it wouldn’t be a problem to just delay it for a moment!
Just as the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander was about to exert more strength to break free from the whip’s binding, the Purple Jade Condor in the sky was done orienting itself again and dove down like a bolt of purple lightning once more.
This time, the Purple Jade Condor was aiming for the back of the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander’s neck, intending to end it all with this attack, and kill the beast.

Sensing the rapidly approaching threat, the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander immediately panicked. It exerted all its strength on its bound leg, and then… staggered and fell flat on the ground.
Zhang Che held the retracted whip in his hand, showing a sly smirk on his face.
A bolt of purple lightning flew past. The scales on the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander’s neck were sliced through, huge amounts of fresh blood gushing out like fountain from a wound deep enough to see the bones.
“Frisky monkey!” Zhang Che yelled out. A black arrow suddenly shot out diagonally behind him and drove into the wound on the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander’s neck, penetrating its brain.
The Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander’s body suddenly moved back and forth violently, like a fish on the verge of suffocation.
Taking this opportunity, Zhang Che fished out the Mutated Puffersword and strode forward, swinging his sword violently and slashing along the wound on the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander’s neck, decapitating the three-star dark gold-quality beast.
==[You Killed a Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander. Obtained 48 Points of Soul Force. Obtained Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander Card.]==
Zhang Che pumped his fist, jumping up in excitement.
He quickly ran forward and picked up the dark golden beast card. Zhang Che’s smile grew wider, his eyes narrowing to slits when he saw the attributes. As he expected, it was an Original Combat Body-type card.
With that, he had competent beasts for land, air, and water battles. He wouldn’t have any worries from now on!
———-
The wavy light of fire appeared in the deep dark cave once more.
Zhang Che held the torch in his hand, his new dark gold-quality subdued beast following beside him, as he began to inspect the depths of the cave.
First he walked towards the wall where he found the peculiar stem and looked carefully, but didn’t discover anything. He looked to the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander at his side and asked, “Is that thing the stem of a spiritual herb? Did you eat what was on it and evolve?”
However, the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander had already died once and turned into a beast card. How could it possibly still have memories of what happened during its past life? It had a blank look on its face after Zhang Che asked the question, and only shook its large head in the end, indicating that it had no idea what its master was talking about.
“Alright, I knew it would turn out this way,” Zhang Che sighed helplessly. The Mutated Puffersword appeared in his hand, and he slashed a few times at the stone wall in front of him, carving out a huge piece of the wall. However, he didn’t discover anything special behind it, and could only give up on any thoughts of finding any treasures.
Thinking about it, since the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander had already become his subdued beast, it was still he who obtained the treasure in the end. It didn’t seem like there was anything regrettable about it.
After that, Zhang Che walked to the small pond on the other side.
Naturally, he was unable to determine whether the pond had anything special about it. Thus, he beckoned the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon at his side with a wave of his hand and had him enter the pond. This fellow was a true-blue water-type beast. It was sure to realize immediately if there was anything unusual about the pond.
The Cold Abyss Flood Dragon soon returned to the surface.
Zhang Che quickly sent hopeful gazes to the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon. Alas, the Cold Abyss Flood Dragon directly shook his head, and informed Zhang Che via their spiritual link that there was probably some beneficial substance in the pond originally, accumulated through the years, but it was all absorbed by the Dark-Scaled Lizard Commander.
“Alright, the benefits still fell into my lap in the end.” Zhang Che could only console himself again.
Since there weren’t any more treasures in here, Zhang Che naturally didn’t want to remain any longer. He raised the torch and turned around, ready to head out of the cave.
Suddenly, his steps lurched to an abrupt stop.
