Chapter 82: Chapter 082 – The Frisky Monkey That Added The Wrong Talent Tree

Seeing the Gluttony Monkey taking the bow in hand excitedly, pulling on the bowstring and nocking the arrow like he knew what he was doing, Zhang Che couldn’t help but have a bold thought. -From the moment I met this frisky monkey, from the way it acted it seemed like its intelligence is really high. If he can learn to use the bow and arrow, doesn’t that mean I will have an additional moving turret in the future?
-After all, I still have to continue practicing the sword routine Tienan gifted me. If I have to practice archery on top of that, a lot of my time and energy will be drawn away. It would suck if my proficiency in both of these skills isn’t anything to be proud of.-
Pa! A crisp sound rang out from the side. Zhang Che quickly snapped back to reality, and saw that the recurve bow in the frisky monkey’s hand had snapped in the middle. The monkey was looking at him awkwardly, his ugly face filled with embarrassment.
“Zhizhi, zhizhi!”
Seeing Zhang Che glaring at him, the frisky monkey pointed at the snapped bow with his right hand, gesturing. His face went through several changes as well, as if he was complaining about something.
“You’re saying this bow is too light; you snapped it the moment you tried pulling on the bowstring?”
What the heck was going on? Zhang Che discovered that he was actually able to understand what the frisky monkey was trying to convey!
“Zhizhizhizhi, zhizhizhi!” The frisky monkey nodded profusely. He looked at the snapped bow with an innocent face, shrugging with his hands up, as if to say, “Look, I actually pulled on it very lightly and it broke. You can’t blame me for this!”
“How strong is this bastard? He snapped the bow after pulling on it lightly!” Zhang Che sucked in a breath of cold air. Although this recurve bow only required fifteen kilograms of strength to fully draw it, drawing and snapping it were two different concepts!

Looking at this frisky monkey that wasn’t even a meter and a half tall, his figure wasn’t muscular, either, where did he find this much strength?
-Ugh, not right!- Zhang Che suddenly recalled, -This bastard does seem a little skinny, but he is a three-star bronze-quality beast, after all!-
It would be strange if it didn’t have great strength!
Looking at the long arms of the frisky monkey once more, Zhang Che immediately grew excited. Such a long pair of arms were made for shooting arrows!
-Mmm. If this frisky monkey can really learn archery… I don’t need his skills to be exceptional, either. If he manages to attain even fifty percent accuracy, that would be incredible!-
As everyone knew, the might of a bow was naturally determined by the amount of strength needed to fully draw it. If the frisky monkey was able to fully draw a five hundred kilogram bow, coupled with armor-piercing arrows made with special materials, its might would be incredible! Anti-material sniper rifles weren’t much different from that, right?
-Of course, first we have to see if the frisky monkey really has the talent for archery…-
Although the recurve bow was snapped by the frisky monkey, it didn’t matter. Zhang Che was in an archery practice arena right now! Did he have to fear he having no bows to use?
Zhang Che drove the frisky monkey back into his spiritual sea before calling for a staff member in the arena, renting a sixty-kilogram bow.
“Here, you try again.” Summoning the frisky monkey once more, Zhang Che handed the bow over to him and reminded him, “Remember, don’t continue using more force when the bowstring is fully drawn. Otherwise, a bow of this level wouldn’t be able to withstand your pull.”
The Gluttony Monkey grew so eager that his ugly face was all scrunched up, celebrating as he took the bow Zhang Che handed him. He quickly nocked an arrow and pulled on the bowstring lightly, drawing the sixty kilogram-grade bow to a full-moon shape.

In the next moment, the Gluttony Monkey let go. The arrow shot forth, disappearing from Zhang Che’s sight.
The frisky monkey’s first ever arrow was like his master’s. There was no aim to it at all, missing the target.
“Ai, was I really hoping for the impossible?” Zhang Che gave a long sigh, thinking that he was thinking too much. How could an exotic beast learn a technical skill like archery, even if it was a clever one?
“Sou!”
While Zhang Che was sighing on one side, the Gluttony Monkey didn’t lose hope on the other, and took another shot.
This arrow similarly missed the target.
However, the disappointment on Zhang Che’s face vanished. His eyes were shining, looking at the frisky monkey who was drawing yet another arrow.
Although the previous arrow missed the target, Zhang Che saw that the arrow’s trail was much closer to the target this time.
-Maybe..?-
The frisky monkey’s movements were very quick; his fingers loosened, and the third arrow shot out.
“Dok!” A dull sound rang out clearly in the practice room. Zhang Che was thoroughly stunned, looking at the arrow stuck on the target in disbelief. The arrow shaft was still trembling. Zhang Che’s mouth was slightly open, unable to shut.
-This must be luck, right?-, Zhang Che thought. When he was practicing earlier, he only hit the target on the fifth arrow. -Could this frisky little monkey actually be more talented than I am?-
Even so, actions spoke louder than words. The Gluttony Monkey showed Zhang Che that he was not relying on luck.
This fellow pulled on the bowstring repeatedly, shooting arrow after arrow. The sounds of impact hammered out accordingly a short distance away. Without any exceptions, every single arrow stabbed deeply into the target.
-I must be seeing things!- Zhang Che shook his head violently and looked at the target once more. However, the arrows were still driven into the target.
“Zhizhi, zhizhi…”
The stunned Zhang Che suddenly heard the frisky monkey’s excited cries from behind. Looking behind him, this fellow was looking at him eagerly, like a child waiting to be praised by their parent after scoring full marks on a test.
“Not bad, not bad!” Zhang Che was wild with joy after recovering from his shock. He extended his hand and touched the frisky monkey’s hairy head with a smile, praising him, “I didn’t think a fellow like you would actually have such terrifying talent at archery. Hmm, your master’s safety all depends on you in the future!”
“Zhizhi!”
The frisky monkey was even more excited than ever after being acknowledged by Zhang Che, his ugly face all red. He raised the bow in his hand, pumping a few times, as if saying, “Don’t worry; I’ll take care of whoever dares to provoke my master with my bow!”
Zhang Che’s lips widened into silent laughter. Looking at the excited look on the frisky monkey, he couldn’t help but sigh. He had originally thought that his failure to snatch the Five-Colored Spiritual Flower and even provoking the Tian Yin Squad for nothing was a huge loss.
From the looks of it now, however, he didn’t suffer a loss at all. On the contrary, he had picked up a treasure!
As long as he gave the Gluttony Monkey a super strong bow, the destructive power he could exhibit was definitely not any less than a three-star gold-quality exotic beast! To a certain degree, it might even be better!
However, this fellow’s characteristics were clearly his liveliness and playful nature, as well as his skills in climbing and finding fruits. Why would he be playing around with a bow so skilfully?
He had obviously added his talent trees the wrong way!
But Zhang Che liked it this way, very much!

Is It Too Late To Move My Lair?
A legendary dragon... It has been told in the stories for hundreds of years. Some say it keeps a mountain of treasure in its cave, some say it is a vicious beast, some say it protects the village nearby, some claim it can grant their wishes, and some just think it's nothing more than a fairytale. He is not. The dragon is very real, although he isn't bothered by what people think of him in the slightest. He also doesn't have a grand treasure, nor does he grant wishes, like a magical genie. He is not interested in eating humans either. And as for protecting them… well. This is the story of the time before the legends, how they came to life and a dragon in the quest of his snooze. In a nutshell, this is a simple, light-hearted story with a dragon in it. What I have in mind is a relatively short one compared to most of the works on this site, but we'll see where it goes. This is my first attempt at writing something like this, so please be patient and kind in pointing out mistakes. As for the posting schedule... let's say it will be sporadic. Hope you enjoy reading, as much as I do while writing it… THE STORY IS NOT DROPPED, JUST SLOW ON THE UPDATES. Cover art by Nane, aka me. (Cross-posted on Scribble Hub.)

The Only Survivor
I want revenge. However, to get revenge, I need information. And for information, I need answers. Yet to get answers, I need power. But for power, I need to survive. They made a grave mistake leaving me alive and locking me in a dungeon cell. They will live to regret it. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ This is a story in a fantasy world with lots of fantastical elements, including magic and cultivation. However, there's also some decent technology in this world. Gaining power has a system and nothing comes out of nowhere. Essentially, the setting and background is high fantasy but the focus will be whatever the MC sees, so expect more of a gritty realistic low fantasy most of the time. The MC is not OP and uses his wits and strategy to survive, and maybe even thrive. The warning tags are just there because I don't want any limits to where this story may lead me to writing. *I don't own the cover*
