My Extraordinary Achievement Chapter 290 – Target Number Two
Chapter 290: Target Number Two
Translator: Dragon Boat Translation Editor: Dragon Boat Translation
Minako Sakurai knew Meng Fan was meeting his sister this evening, so she stopped herself from calling him, though she desperately missed him.
She couldn’t sit still, however, so she left her hotel.
As she walked, she reached the hotel where she met Meng Fan this morning. From looking on her phone, she could tell which hotel was his.
There were quite a few hotels around here. Judging by Meng Fan’s budget, she could guess which was likely to be his hotel, and all of them were in the same direction. Minako Sakurai sat down in a coffeehouse facing these hotels and fended off a few men who tried to pick her up.
After a while, she left the coffeehouse and paced back and forth outside.
Her efforts weren’t in vain, she actually did find Meng Fan.
It’s just…
“Huh?”
When she saw him and called him, her brain seemed to freeze. It was as if her brain had a malfunction. She forgot why she was walking here and what she had just said. She stood in place, feeling bewildered.
“Geez, how obsessed am I with Meng Fan?”
After a while, her brain seemed to restart as she suddenly remembered everything. Then she smiled bitterly, “I must miss Meng Fan so much that I’m hallucinating. He’s not here.”
Minako Sakurai couldn’t figure out why her brain had a sudden “memory loss;” she assumed she was crazy.
She looked around carefully, still not finding Meng Fan. Finally, she decided to call Meng Fan.
Meng Fan had already gone inside the hotel.
He was just at the nightclub, then he heard that surveillance footage. He really couldn’t deal with a passionate Minako Sakurai right now.
He was a guy who hadn’t experienced a lot of these things yet. He wasn’t confident in his ability to resist, nor did he think it was something worth testing himself in.

Meng Fan didn’t want to do things he wasn’t confident in.
So he instantly put on the hat which made him less visible and marched into the hotel.
He didn’t want Minako Sakurai to be too confused however, so he took off the hat as soon as he got inside the hotel. He didn’t want her to doubt herself or to doubt her life.
Soon after he took off the hat, Minako Sakurai called, asking him to have a drink tonight. Her intention was obvious. Meng Fan had no choice but to say he was still hanging out with his sister, instead of rejecting her outright. He still needed to get some information from her.
Girl, please resist me. I couldn’t help but use myself as bait. I wanted to save my life, and I hope to save your life too.
Meng Fan had to sigh pathetically at this point. It was rare to use a honey trap so lamely.
He could hear the disappointment in her voice. He felt bad, then said, “Minako, when are you back to work? I was going to visit Japan anyway. I wanted to see when you flew there. If the timing is right, I could take your flight to Japan.”
Instantly, Minako Sakurai sounded energized.
“Aye, why is she so into me?”
Meng Fan was really in a dilemma with her.
After he arrived at the hotel, he took a cold shower to stop thinking wayward thoughts. The best way was to do a video chat with Wu Tong. As soon as they connected, he became focused.
After the video chat, Meng Fan still couldn’t sleep. He didn’t stay idle; instead, he took pen and paper to start drawing comics. He was still creating his original series, the world, and its characters, making a lot of art.
The next morning, he went jogging and of course, he ran into Minako Sakurai again. After the run and a breakfast, they each had to shower, naturally parting ways.
Then Minako Sakurai called him, wanting to visit somewhere, and Meng Fan turned her down again. Maybe it was because he was going to be on her flight to Japan, Minako Sakurai wasn’t that crushed.

After he returned and showered, Meng Fan reviewed the footage from the streaming device again and didn’t learn anything new. He didn’t get new information from eavesdropping on Showta Takashimaya either.
In the afternoon, Meng Fan went to Meng Caitang’s graduation ceremony. The ceremony was very elaborate, taking place at a high-end conference hall. There were many attendees. Most of the VIP guests had impressive titles. Meng Fan didn’t know many of them, but he did know a few of the people giving speeches at the podium were leading in their industries.
Just like before his reincarnation, the person awarding Meng Caitang was a Nobel Prize winner. Meng Fan had no idea why a medical Nobel Prize winner would give a biomechanics award to Meng Caitang. Even after the ceremony ended, Meng Fan was still confused about the details of the award. He just knew it was amazing and involved research greatly advancing the field of biomechanics.
The research still hasn’t succeeded, it was just progressing a little, yet it was enough to make Meng Caitang receive a great commendation.
Similarly, Meng Caitang used this progress to get a job at one of the three research institutes at the National University. If the research made periodic advances, Meng Caitang would have an opportunity to win the Nobel Prize.
Of course, Meng Fan could tell this research was very challenging. Some fields had gone through dozens or even a hundred years without any breakthrough developments.
Meng Fan being at the ceremony helped provide Meng Caitang with a family member in the audience, he also did a webcast to help other family members see the ceremony.
After the award ceremony, Meng Fan knew Meng Caitang needed to spend time with these VIPs, so he left first.
As soon as he left the National University, Meng Fan’s face grew grim.
Showta Takashimaya called someone to meet him at the airport.
He sounded mysterious.
Meng Fan hesitated, then grabbed a taxi going toward the airport. But instead of going inside the airport, he stopped at a scenic location nearby called the Johore Battery. In addition to the scenic location, there were other streets here.
Immediately, he turned on the broadcast device to look for Showta Takashimaya.
Surprisingly, Meng Fan noticed Showta Takashimaya also getting out of a car. Soon after, Hideo Ohno arrived via another car. The two men entered the airport almost on the heels of each other. They greeted each other politely, not communicating much.
Meng Fan used the broadcast device to follow them, which showed the two men and someone who looked like a crew member going into an office.
“Meeting?”
Meng Fan heard voices from the earphone. This looked like a standard pre-flight meeting.
But why was Showta Takashimaya looking all mysterious?
He just needed to wait.
He just got done with a boring award ceremony, now he had to wait at a cafe for another boring meeting which actually needed translation. It was torture.
Although, given the life and death nature of this matter, Meng Fan wasn’t sleepy; he stayed awake.
“Thank you.”
I’m sorry, I want to be alone right now.”
During this wait, Meng Fan was approached a few times.
After the meeting ended, Showta Takashimaya seemed to have received some kind of task, as he left for the ground crew’s area with the flight crew member. Then, it was more words which Meng Fan couldn’t fully understand, even with translation.
“Is everything ready?”
Finally, Meng Fan heard something which had to do with hijacking.
Showta Takashimaya “ran into” a colleague, whom he knew. They chatted, and the question came up during the conversation.
The colleague seemed to be part of the grounds crew rather than the flight crew. Using the man’s face and his ID tag, Meng Fan quickly found his information.
Abdul Nak, a supervisor in charge of freight.

“One in a billion.” Jack kept repeating the mantra in his head. “One in a billion.” That was the number the Omni-Corps liked to cite whenever someone stepped onto one trans-mat pad and then simply… never stepped off the other. “Safer than a car,” he repeated as he slogged through the snow, his mining overalls doing at least a passable job of keeping out the cold as he brushed aside a tree branch. “Safer than a plane. Or a starship. Safest form of transport in the Star League.” He slammed his fist into a nearby tree, exo-empowered strength shattering it into little more than scattered bark and kindling. “Yeah, well I never heard of a car ride stranding some prick in another dimension!” He roared, his voice echoing through the seemingly endless forest around him. Then he kept marching. He’d seen the fire off in the distance. And given all the snow around, he sincerely doubted it was natural. Which left the unnatural. Which meant people. He hoped. Because even if the trans-mat had screwed up, he doubted it had dumped him too far off the central finite curve. The fact that the air was breathable and that he could recognize the trees around him as oak told him that much. And if the dimension he was in had trees native to Earth, chances are it would have animals too. Of which humans would hopefully be no exception. “Because I’ll be damned if I spend the rest of my days talking to goddamn squirrels.” No, if there were humans on this mudball, he was going to find them. One way or another.

8 182Evolution of the Lazy Gamer by Bruticus
It had been five years since the game Royalroad first appeared. A new expansion had been released and one person was assigned by his company to review it. That was the beginning of the story of a lazy, unheroic character who would meet others just as lacking in the heroism department as he was. Still life (or virtual life) throws you curve balls and you never know what will happen.
8 245Author sent into his own story, now what do I do?

8 113THIRTEEN (Evie's Perspective)
This is the 2003 movie, Thirteen, told from the perspective of Evie Zamora. We got Tracy's point of view, but what about Evie? Why did she do the things she did?I've seen a few different interpretations of Evie's perspective and I decided to give it a go. This is how I think Evie thought and the reasons behind why she did the things she did. This is NOT canon, just a fanfiction, and I am not affiliated with Thirteen or Catherine Hardwick in any way.
