Chapter 1614: 1614
Fortunately, Lu Li had enough EQ now that he was able to joke in front of his girlfriend without any problems . If he wished to be rid of his girlfriend’s doubts about life, he would have to put his whole heart into convincing her . Otherwise, he had no hope of doing so .
Not far from there were a few clusters of berries . In fact, on this road, there were all sorts of berries .
All in all, there were about six types – red berries, blue berries, yellow berries, purple berries, black berries and white berries . They were spread along both sides of the street, creating a beautiful sight .
These berries were not just for decoration, as players would usually steer their rams to eat them . After eating these berries, different effects would occur . Lu Li was currently guiding his rams to eat the black berries .
The effects quickly became apparent . His rams’ actions become slow, as if they had ingested a slowing poison .
Water Fairy ordered her rams to eat the purple berries . The rams had already accumulated quite a lot of fatigue, but it slowly began to decrease . Moreover, her rams also gained an acceleration boost . As a result of this, Water fairy overtook Lu Li in the race .
She was extremely happy as she had already overheard others talking .
She knew that black berries should not be fed to rams as they would slow down within moments of consumption . Even if all other types of berries were then fed to the rams after consuming the black berries, this would only negate the slowing effects for a moment . Only the white berries could completely remove the side effects of the black berries .
Lu Li seemed stupid . He had much difficulty in trying to get his rams to eat the other berries . Why would he give such an impression that would make Water Fairy so happy?

Actually, why would he not know the effect of these six types of berries?
Was it because he did it on purpose? It was definitely not because he liked the colour black .
If Lu Li was constantly ahead, Water Fairy would lose all hope, and the game would be completely pointless for her .
In the end, it was still Lu Li that was better at ram racing; he quickly caught up with Water Fairy .
It was only when he had almost caught up with her, that he would make some small mistakes, letting Water Fairy overtake him by a fraction .
While Lu Li had initially overtaken Water Fairy, he had used his whip, so his rams’ fatigue bars were full . This allowed another cluster of berries to be snatched by Water Fairy, giving her the advantage to win by her own means .
Water Fairy was elated, though she was not very enthusiastic about kissing Lu Li which disappointed him .
On the second day of Brewfest, the new activity was basically making their own fun .
However, when they players went online, they discovered that the ram race rules had changed . The glitch used to cheat yesterday could no longer be recreated .
The player would randomly be sent into the race and, although other people could buy tickets to enter, they could not use the glitch in the same way Lu Li instructed Water Fairy to .
Although there were people who cheated, Lu Li was still the ram race champion . Moreover, he was now in a situation that could not be exploited .
However, he was still miserable about the fact that he did not obtain any Skill Points . According to incomplete statistics, there were 63 champions of the ram race yesterday, but Points were only awarded to three people . They were Moonlight, Remnant Dream and a third unassuming player .

Hachi Chan was unable to become a champion, nor gain any points .
Moonlight and the third player usually did not have very good luck, so obviously, this award was very unexpected .
On the second day, there was a total of 300 people that became champions in the ram race .
After all, Lu Li was already in the guild and had released the strategy to the public . It only cost a few accumulated guild points to watch the ram race for free . However, Lu Li was disappointed that the number of people who obtained Skill Points was unexpectedly lower than the first day . Only 2 elite players were able to obtain Skill Points .
This showed that the officials had already gone further and reduced the chances .
All the other clubs had similar experiences . Lu Li’s ram race strategy could only be kept a secret for so long . In almost a split second, all was revealed, but it wasn’t like he had no other strategies .
When Square Root 3 released another strategy, he laid a small trap . He released it in batches, giving priority to those who seem suspicious, but he didn’t actually expect to catch two traitors .
Before, Lu Li had no intention of catching traitors but this time he ended up catching 2 of them .
This was an unexpected positive outcome, but Lu Li and Square Root 3 were already aware of the traitors . The discovery of the identities of the traitors was imperative . The elite group had to have more secrecy agreements . At the same time, they had to be ready to send a double agent into another guild .
Being a professional gamer was a demanding job, requiring an unending battle of wits and courage .
However, these two traitors, in addition to the two that were found previously, had no action taken upon them .
One of the reasons for not taking action was that they wished to find a better opportunity to fight back against them and to give them a false sense of confidence . Another reason was to ensure that they did not raise the suspicions of the opposition, just like last time when information was revealed to Glory Capital’s Eagle Cutesie .
Anyway, Lu Li was not in a hurry, as sending out someone who was clearly a double agent was pointless .
When the third day came around, the officials came up with new content .
The first quest asked the players to go to Steel Stove Castle, which was not far from Kharanos . Here, the players could find the special commissioner of the Brewfest, Gragas .
He would give players a mission which involved a group of Dark Iron Dwarves . They were now at the Iron Dwarf Bar, conspiring to destroy the mainland’s Brewfest .
As for why, it was an attempt to steal all the beer and bring it back to their own home . Although Ragnaros the Firelord enslaved the Iron Dwarves, they had a reputation of being alcoholics .
In order to ensure that Brewfest proceeded smoothly, Gragas employed warriors from the mainland to protect the festival at any cos . This meant that they would go as far as to kill the group of Dwarves in the Iron Dwarf Bar, the Grim Guzzler .

Homecoming | A Chronicles of Ascension Story
When Jethen was captured by slavers, his childhood was torn from him and left shattered half a world away. When he finds himself back home decades later, by methods he does not fully understand, he finds that the life he has lived has changed him far more than he knew. In a home he no longer knows. Places and people at the same time familiar and foreign, he must decide - stay and help with his parent's business, or return to the land that remade him and the family he made there. --------- Homecoming started as just a short story to break an episode of writers block. It has since morphed well beyond that into a novel in it's own right, and may well end up with a sequel. The writing of Homecoming became a bit of a self induced challenge to improve my initial, first brush, writing quality. Each chapter was written raw, given a once over read and edit, and then posted. In this way I am forcing myself to write better from the start. I do hope you enjoy the story and will leave a comment or review, and if you see an issue, feel free to let me know as well. I know it is not nearly perfect, and it will get a full and proper edit once I am done. Never hurts to fix things along the way though. As an additional note. The story has undergone a structural rework and has been reposted in an updated structure and sequence of chapters. If you have read this story already, I invite you to do so again in this new structure.

Crossroads
On the continent of Khaan, a peculiar boy escapes from his hidden village to find a land to call home. Suppressed ambitions are unveiled as a head-strong princess defies the emperor. New kingdoms expand as the old decay. This is a story of those who lived in the times of change. Dear Reader, Thank you for stopping by! This is my first attempt at writing something of more substantial length and would be incredibly grateful to receive feedback and advice. The plan is to post at least a chapter a week and more if I find time. Also, in order to not disappoint any expectations; the story plays in a fictional world reminiscent of the real world 17th to 19th century with some supernatural elements, but no obvious magic or game-like system.
