The Great Thief Chapter 1450 – Camper’s Tactics
Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
Lu Li told Water Fairy about the contents of the two bags as well as the items that dropped, and he also brought along a gun accessory for her.
As for the question of whether or not he would go solo or meet up with her, not even Water Fairy could answer this question.
The main selling point about Survival and Escape was the unpredictability of the game. No one could predict what was going to happen. For example, Lu Li could instantly die as soon as he walked out of this room. After all, there were gunshots fired here, so his position could have easily been exposed.
“Are you safe there?” Lu Li asked.
“Quite safe. There are four houses nearby, and I’m the only one who landed here. Even if other people are rushing here, they’ll be a little while,” Water Fairy answered. She was just running around and looting the chests, but didn’t end up with anything worthwhile. People would naturally flock to the areas that contained a lot of items, such as Lu Li’s area, City M.
However, in terms of survival, Water Fairy was quite well-prepared.
She had an AKM on one hand and a S12K on the other. The AKM was a powerful automatic rifle; four bullets to the body or two bullets to the head were enough to kill a person. However, the recoil was significant, and the crosshair was hard to control, so it was difficult for beginners to handle this gun. Even so, Water Fairy didn’t have much trouble with it.
The S12K was a shotgun, just like Lu Li’s S686. It was extremely powerful in short range combat, especially when fired at point-blank range.
Besides these guns, Water Fairy also had the basic bulletproof vest and helmet.
After killing these two people, Lu Li also had his fair share of items. Firstly, he had his shotgun, which he instantly hailed as a ‘god-level’ gun, as well as a UMP9. There was also a third gun, which was a SCAR-L that had dropped from the second person that he killed.
The SCAR-L was a gun that could be used for long-range or short-range combat, like the AKM. It was quite suited for beginners.
As for bulletproof armor, neither of these guys had any. However, there was a helmet that was of an uncommon grade, along with some gun accessories, so Lu Li stored them away, just like Water Fairy had taught him to do.

Then, he decided not to investigate the other rooms and quickly jumped down from the window after scanning his surroundings.
Even though Water Fairy and the spectators all suggested to check the other rooms, he didn’t do so. This was because he had already experienced the satisfaction of killing, so he decided to find other players to kill. This way, he could quickly find the 4x scope that Water Fairy wanted and meet up
with her as soon as possible.
This round of Survival and Escape was set on a large island, with two bridges connecting the mainland to a smaller island.
The island was designed to be a wasteland with abandoned buildings scattered throughout. However, you could find military equipment, such as guns, protective gear and other various items everywhere. You could even find cars in the wild and boats on the water.
Lu Li spotted a house with a fairly short fence, so he decided to hide in the shrubs, dodging and weaving within them.
He examined the other houses, especially the entrances and window positions. If people entered this house, there would definitely be traces of them. Furthermore, he was in a strategic position. On one side, there was the fence, and on the other was a fairly large shrub. From afar, it would be difficult to spot him.
“Must be an camper. Such a cunning man. I don’t believe that it’s his first time. He must be trying to fool us.”
“What do you know? This is what they call a prodigious camper. I think I’m a little in love. But why doesn’t he use the SCAR-L as his main weapon? Is the shotgun that good?”
“These wannabe know-it-all people are the worst. He doesn’t have a scope anyway, so taking the SCAR-L wouldn’t do anything. From what I can see from this camper, he’ll probably stay put and wait for someone to come to him. Then, he’ll just kill them with the shotgun.”
“I suspect that some of these people would be paranoid while walking around. Suddenly, there might be someone shooting at you.”
Lu Li didn’t have time to read the spectators’ chat. He was completely focused on scanning his surroundings. As a Thief, waiting like this was a normal thing, so he didn’t feel that this was tedious. While he was examining his surroundings, he was also checking out the items in his bag. The accessories that he could use on his guns were all equipped.

During this time, he spotted a person.
This person had two guns on his back and swiftly jumped out of the window.
Lu Li was quick to react; he aimed and fired.
The player heard a thunderous bang and instantly panicked, whipping out a gun and aiming while in a crouched position. He couldn’t see where his assailant was, so he didn’t know when and where the next bullet would come from. As a result, he retreated back into the room and didn’t come out.
Lu Li didn’t fire a second bullet. This was because since he had missed the first shot, the second shot was likely not to yield any results either.
Lu Li was quite devastated, so he turned to Water Fairy to vent out his frustrations.
“Why didn’t I hit him? I aimed it right at him!”
The live-stream instantly exploded into laughter. Water Fairy looked at the chat and told Lu Li what he should have done, while suppressing her laughter. She told him that the S686, although extremely powerful in a close range, was quite weak in long-ranged combat. Even the best players wouldn’t be able to use a shotgun to hit a target that far away.
Lu Li realised the stupidity of his actions, then instantly swapped to the SCAR-L.
Some female fans were enamoured with Lu Li’s little blunder.
“This person is so adorable! A little dumb, but cute.”
“Dumb? Haha…if only you knew his strength in Dawn. You wouldn’t be calling him dumb at all.” Some of the spectators played Dawn. They thought about the feats that he had managed to accomplish, as well as the girl that he had stolen away from countless male players. No one would say that he was dumb.
The person hiding in the room quickly came back out. However, after Lu Li looked around, he found that he had a teammate that was checking around another house.
He made a quick decision, aiming at one of the unmoving players and firing.
Bang, bang, bang!
The player was struck by two bullets, but the third one missed because the crosshair was moved upwards by the recoil. As a result, the bullet was off-target. This was normal for a new player. He didn’t know about the effects of recoil, so if he had really killed these two people, he would just be too powerful.
However, Lu Li was quick to adjust. When the crosshair began to move upwards, he quickly pulled it back down and fired.
Lu Li fired a few more rounds and managed to down his target.
From this position, he was actually able to kill the target with a few more bullets, but he didn’t. Instead, he quickly retreated and changed positions.
He rapidly moved around while keeping his gun aimed at the person on the ground.
“He is using him as bait. This new guy knows this trick? Hell, all my years of playing have just gone down the drain.”
The live-stream chat was in awe. The person that was struck needed to be healed in a set window, or else he would die. Lu Li decided to leave him alive because he wanted to lure the other person out to heal his teammate.
“His positioning is pretty good and he is light on his feet. He can probably predict where the person wants to crawl to.”
The target’s teammate seemingly knew what Lu Li’s intention was, but he needed to go save his fallen comrade. Firstly, in this Duo game mode, a solo player would find difficult to progress. Secondly, seeing his teammate bleed out was not a pretty sight and it would take a toll on his conscience as well.
After the target crawled back into the room, the teammate instantly rushed towards the entrance of the room.
If Lu Li’s positioning was not optimal and if he ran quick enough, he would have a chance at healing his teammate.
Lu Li followed what Water Fairy taught him. He held his breath and fired consecutive rounds at his target. The SCAR-L was quite a stable gun already, so Lu Li easily controlled the recoil, which many players, even veterans of the game, would not be able to do.
After three successive hits, with one being a headshot, Lu Li successfully killed the person at the entrance.
After making sure that there were no players around, Lu Li sprinted over to loot their items.
This time, there was much more loot, since these guys had explored for quite some time and were rather fortunate with what they had found.

An Unwilling Monster
In the city of Kholakel, the highlight of the year for the upper classes is the annual monster pacification of the misty woods. Ostensibly it's a culling of the monster population to prevent them encroaching on urban areas, but it's an open secret that it's actually treated as more of a blood sport, the participants competing to score the most kills. After all, why else would the politicians and elites of the city bother to attend personally? Given the intense competition and high-tech weapons and gear in use, one might wonder how the forest has not yet been completely depopulated. As this year's culling approaches, a group of unfortunate children are about to discover the answer first-hand, but thanks to an unexpected twist of fate, one of them will score the chance to play the role of the hunter instead of the prey. This was an attempt at writing something darker than my usual fare. The story I actually ended up with isn't as mean to the MC as I'd originally planned out, to the point that I'm not sure the story deserves the horror/grimdark tags anymore, but this is still an unfair world with unambiguously evil antagonists. Chapters are short to start with, but get longer once the first act is over.

An Average American in A High-school Academy Anime
An American versed in narrative tropes and more than mildly acquainted with anime wakes up in a completely different bed than the one he went to bed in. Now he has to scramble to understand where he is, what's going on, and hope to God he isn't in a relationship drama. I don't expect this to be good or well-received, but I have plenty of time this quarantine, so I'll try to get a chapter of 4000-10000 words out every one or two weeks. (haha) Please let me know how it can be improved. I'm an avid reader of fiction, but I've never really fallen down a rabbit hole so hard that I can name all tropes and settings and such by heart. I'm not sure if this will be effective satire, so I preemptively apologize. Inspired by: "My Life is Not a Manga, or maybe..." by EO Tenkey and "The Simulacrum" by Eganthale. Check them out if you want probably better stories than this one.
