The Great Thief Chapter 1415 – Slaying Ragnaros
Chapter 1415: Slaying Ragnaros

Hope didn’t mean that they would definitely succeed. However, after Lu Li saw hope, he started to constantly adjust everyone’s positioning and reminded them how to cast their skills and position more efficiently. He used all types of methods and strategies to maximise everyone’s fire resistance.
Besides this, he also tried all that he could to cut down the time they spent on each phase. Ragnaros was a boss that increased in difficulty the longer the fight dragged on. So, having everyone boost their damage output was a good way to increase their success rate. At the start, they had to be cautious, so everyone dealt damage carefully. However, now that they had seen everything Ragnaros could do, they could now focus on dealing damage.
Lu Li had grouped a lot of Berserkers and Thieves together, who would play the crucial role of damaging the boss.
After every minor adjustment, the boss was left with less health. They even reached the stage where the boss went berserk. This was a clear improvement that gave hope to everyone. Although they were all physically tired from the constant battling, mentally, they were more awake than ever. Once again, the battle drew close to its end, but the difference this time was the lower casualty rate.
“Now, deal as much damage as you can. Use whatever you’ve got! Any consumables used will be reimbursed by the guild,” Lu Li commanded. He knew that their chance had come. They had a really good shot at taking down the boss this time. He even used a berserk potion that he had been keeping for a long time. Like a rare treasure, he had wanted to hold on to it for as long as possible.
Everyone else wasn’t as cheap as he thought. When they needed to, they were more liberal with their consumables than Lu Li was.

Ragnaros started to grow impatient as his auto-attack speed increased. It seemed like he was about to go berserk. It wasn’t realistic for the final boss of a large level 60 dungeon to hold back.
Apparently, a club that didn’t care much about their pride had gone down to complete the dungeon in Elite mode, and they were getting close to Ragnaros as well. That difficulty was a lot easier than Nightmare mode. Although the dungeon design and the design of the bosses were almost entirely the same, just the fact that the boss had 20% less health was enough to put pressure on Ruling Sword.
If the boss had 20% less health in Nightmare mode as well, Lu Li would’ve already passed this stage with everyone a while ago.
“I’ve already casted some spells and special effects that have cooldowns for an entire day. If we fail this time, we’ll have to wait until tomorrow,” Wandering sighed. Right before his eyes, Azure Sea Breeze had already been brutally beaten to death by Ragnaros, who had gone berserk. As such, it was his turn to sacrifice himself.
“Stay put and don’t do anything stupid because we might finally clear it!” Lu Li shouted loudly.
He kept asking everyone to play safe to persuade not only his team but also himself; he was just as anxious about this as everyone else.
Fortunately, Wandering wasn’t a bad player. He grew up with Azure Sea Breeze and played almost identical games with similar experience. Azure Sea Breeze may have more raw talent, but Wandering was smarter and better at assessing the situation.
“World, if I can’t hold it anymore, it’ll be your turn next,” Wandering turned to speak to World’s Best Friend.
“Let me do it. You take a rest.”
World’s Best Friend moved forward to taunt the boss which saved barely saved Wandering. He hadn’t been doing much besides pulling a few monsters. He had a lot of life saving skills still remaining up his sleeves and was waiting for the right moment.

Without Azure Sea Breeze, World’s Best Friend would also be good enough to play as the main tank for the club.
Ragnaros’ last sliver of health was torture for them because team members kept dying. No one knew if the boss would defeat them with only a little bit of health remaining.
“As long as we don’t make mistakes, we won’t have an issue. Don’t worry, just keep going,” Lu Li reassured the team. He wasn’t sure how many times he had repeated himself. It wasn’t like the others couldn’t hear him the first time, but he just felt the need to repeat it over and over again to make everyone feel a little more at peace.
“Eight thousand health points left. Bring him down! Warriors don’t stop the damage,” Lu Li desperately called out. There weren’t many players left standing. Lu Li activated the special effect of his weapon and transformed into a demon.
Shard of the Defiler (Legendary): Damage 82-96. Agility +80, Strength +60, Attack Speed +45%, 2 Slots. Special Effect 1: Deep Contamination, requires activation, reduces 30% of target’s armour and movement speed, cooldown 120 seconds. Special Effects 2: Fatal Blow: when the target health drops below 20%, there is a chance to execute the target. Special Effects 3: Echo of Archimonde: Activate to transform into a demon, allowing the user to cast demonic skills, lasts for 30 seconds, useable once per day. Level Requirement 60, Durability 240/240.
The special effect, Archimonde, had appeared after the upgrade of the dagger and allowed its owner to have three demon spells.
One was called Shadow Barrage, which effectively reduced the target’s defence. The other was called Charging Soul, which absorbed the energy of all dead units in the area. The more units that died in the area, the more energy this skill absorbed. The last one was called Finger of Death and was a damaging skill.
These three skills worked in harmony – armour reduction, a damage boost and finally a damage skill.
However, the cooldown of this special effect lasted the entire day. Lu Li rarely had a chance to use it, but in one of his many tests, this special effect had proved itself to be extremely powerful.
The key was figuring out how much defence he could reduce, and how many souls he could use to charge himself up, maximising the damage of Finger of Death.
There were 40 players in this battle and 23 of them had died, which meant that Lu Li could charge 23 souls into his skill. The effect of Charging Soul was also dependent on the strength of these souls. The Shard of the Defiler stabbed right into the back of Ragnaros.
“The flames will eventually burn everything down! Your victory will not last long!” he roared in rage. His body became unstable as flames and lava shot out everywhere. Some players who couldn’t dodge in time died from the eruption.
Even so, they had done it!
His last attack had dealt around two to three thousand points of damage. Alongside the effort of others, everyone finally took down the troublesome boss after two days.
However, no one felt tired. Everyone that survived laughed and jumped, celebrating the tough victory. Success was more valuable after a long struggle.
This joy was even greater than their anticipation towards the equipment drops. Of course, some people cared more about the loot than the joy of defeating Ragnaros. Players like Remnant Dream and Lu Li immediately turned their eyes to Ragnaros’ loot.
System: Congratulations to Ruling Sword, who, led by their commander Lu Li, have successfully been the first to complete the 40-man raid dungeon – Molten Core (Nightmare Mode).
