The Great Thief Chapter 1400 – A Joke of a Captain
Chapter 1400: A Joke of a Captain
Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
A slew of round, black objects were thrown into the group of chariots, one after another.
The Gangnam Royals immediately noticed the people who threw these things. If they couldn’t even realise this, then they would be completely stupid.
After the action of throwing, the thrower’s body would be revealed. Then, the realisation hit them that it was a group of Thieves that were responsible for this. It didn’t matter what they were throwing, after all, it could never be good. The commanders immediately yelled for their teammates to kill these Thieves.
The chariots couldn’t move by themselves; there needed to be a driver.
While it was easy to exit the chariot, it still took time, no matter how fast the driver was. This gave Lu Li and his people another opportunity to throw a second wave of bombs. When they did this, the first wave of bombs had already exploded.
As the bombs exploded, the Gangnam Royals were sent into a scrambling panic, giving Ruling Sword another chance to throw a third bomb.
As for the fourth one wave, the Gangnam Royals had already realised what they were throwing, so it was more difficult for them. Ruling Sword didn’t have that many bombs either, since the materials were too rare for this to be used without discretion.
If only they had an unlimited supply of these bombs – Lu Li would have been able to promise that not even one of the Gangnam Royals’ chariots could reach the Stronghold walls.
“It’s Lu Li! Kill him!” yelled Heart of War.
As soon as he saw Lu Li, his nemesis, his rage immediately consumed him.
He actually didn’t have many chances to interact with Lu Li. It could even be said that they didn’t have any special hatred or bad blood between them. Lu Li had never even assassinated him. (Sorrowless: My kneecaps are a little sore)

The main thing was that Ruling Sword’s rapid evolution and expansion hurt Heart of War. One guild was rapidly advancing, while the other was rapidly crumbling.
Then, Gangnam Royals tried to oppress Ruling Sword, but Ruling Sword managed to swiftly rise through the ranks and take their spot.
This Stronghold battle was the battle that Heart of War had planned to turn the tables. Heart of War spent great amounts of money to gather information about the Stronghold, so when the eight guilds were fighting against the system’s Stronghold, they were able to easily surpass Glory Capital.
Glory Capital approached it quite ordinarily. Ten chariots was not a small number, but it couldn’t be compared to Gangnam Royals’ 55!
“Out of the four of them, only two are left. Both ran away. Their items are all Gold grade.” The messenger didn’t even dare to look at Heart of War in the eyes. Even without meeting his eyes, he knew how angry he was.
“We have forty people fighting against four, yet two of them still managed to escape? Two Gold items…what? Was it planned?”
Heart of War nearly spat out blood.
“How about the loss of chariots?”
Old Man Power couldn’t stand this – what a joke of a captain. They had already escaped, so there wasn’t much more to say. It was obvious that this was a suicide squad. Would they wear their best items and commit suicide? The priority was to check on the chariots.
“Hmph.” Heart of War glanced at Old Man Power, then asked, “How about the loss of chariots?”
“We didn’t lose that many. Only three of them were destroyed. The rest are still functional,” the messenger reported, then continued to say, “The other two paths were also attacked. We lost two at the top path and lost one at the bottom path. We lost six chariots in total. We have forty-nine left.”
“Forty-nine, huh. Going through all of that trouble just for six chariots. Even Lu Li himself was nearly captured. What a joke of a supposedly ‘top player’.”

Upon hearing this, Heart of War was no longer angry.
Old Man Power sighed. He suddenly didn’t feel like saying anything.
On their way to the Stronghold, the Gangnam Royals travelled with extreme caution. They were afraid that the Thieves would come again. The Thieves had managed to destroy six in one go, so it would be trouble if they kept reappearing.
The Gangnam Royals worried too much; they managed to get to the bottom of the Stronghold walls with no more disruptions.
Lu Li had already brought his people back to the top of the walls and changed into their normal gear. Their gear was all given to other people to take care of before they ventured out on their suicide mission.
Before they launched their attack on the Stronghold, Heart of War decided to go forward and say some words.
“Lu Li, I bet you didn’t expect this.”
“You’re right. I didn’t. Congratulations on gaining the right to attack,” Lu Li calmly replied. His tone implied a sense of familiarity. Heart of War was keen to see Lu Li’s reaction, but he was disappointed at this.
“Your ambush meant nothing. I still have 49 chariots. It’s definitely enough to destroy that wall of yours,” Heart of War boasted.
He had great understanding of the Stronghold. Through his connections and information that he retrieved, he knew the defensive strength of the wall, as well as the offensive strength of the chariots. 49 chariots could quickly destroy the walls. When all three walls fell, then the Stronghold would be ripe for the taking.
They didn’t need to kill or flush out all the Ruling Sword members to take control of the Stronghold.
After entering the Stronghold, they just needed to use the chariots to destroy the Stronghold crystal.
The crystal didn’t have much HP or Armor (durability). It was quite similar to the strength of the walls. To destroy the wall meant an incoming invasion.
“Move the chariots to the front.”
Lu Li didn’t want to waste more time, even though wasting time was advantageous to them, because there was a time limit of two hours for the offensive side. If they couldn’t take the Stronghold within that time, then it was a win for the defensive side.
Looking up to the walls, there were originally only players standing there. However, at Lu Li’s command, they immediately heard a loud rumble and saw chariot after chariot moving into position. The cannons were all facing towards the bottom. It was quite a sight to behold.
There were 15 chariots in place.
“Only 15? I have 22 here!” Heart of War shouted as his face flushed with redness.
The news from the other paths reached Heart of War’s ears. The other paths also had 10 chariots on each wall. Then, he realised that Ruling Sword had invested 35 chariots into this battle. This realisation surprised Heart of War. How was it possible for Lu Li, a poor man, to be willing to invest in 35 chariots?
Lu Li bought three revive points this time; there was one on each wall. This amounted to 600 gold.
There were 35 chariots, and each chariot cost 50 gold. This amounted to 1750 gold.
The bombs were also quite valuable, although the costs were unknown. Adding onto the defensive potions and elixirs, Ruling Sword was willing to go to great lengths to defend this Stronghold.
“22 Chariots, huh? I really don’t know if there’s a brain in your head today. Did Old Man Power get infected too? You think destroying a few of your chariots was my goal of throwing those bombs?” Lu Li goaded.

Life in the New World
On the Hiatus: I began writing this novel when I was, in all honesty, very bad at writing. I hope to revisit creative writing in the near future and I plan to, at some point in time, revisit this. I am flattered that many people have taken the time to read this story, but it is not what I intend to start with, as it will likely need a hard rewrite in order to correct many of the more glaring issues it has. Join our hero and follow his exciting adventure through a newly changed world! WARNING their will be violence, profanity,, and gore in this fiction. if any of these make you uncomfortable this is not a story for you turn around and walk away now!!!
