The Great Thief Chapter 979 – Endless Polymorph
Translator: Halcyon Translations Editor: Halcyon Translations
“Seventh Heaven – the match today is against Seventh Heaven. Is that too troublesome?” Square Root 3 asked after he returned from drawing the raffle.
This was the third match of the competition. They hadn’t run into any strong players in the previous two matches, but now they were matched up against Seventh Heaven. No matter how confident he was about his own guild, Square Root 3 also knew that Seventh Heaven wouldn’t be an easy opponent.
Not to mention, Lucky Southern Persian had become a legend now.
With his Legendary staff, he had begun to dominate all the other Mages. His existence made players like Sorrowless and Unforgettable Maple seem dull; he was now the God of this class group.
Lu Li immediately thought of Lucky Southern Persian the moment he heard that they were matched up against Seventh Heaven.
His Legendary staff had a special effect; it made Polymorph into an instant cast spell. Once you pointed at a target, they would become a sheep, over and over again. This meant that he could render one opponent in a group match totally useless.
Lu Li wasn’t afraid of him because he had a lot of ways to remove crowd-control effects and most of the times, Thieves struck first. He was confident that he could take down his opponent first.
However, this was a different story for the others, especially March Rain. Once she was unable to do anything, Ruling Sword would face a situation where they had no healers, and they would lose the group match without a doubt.
This wasn’t them overthinking; Seventh Heaven had already won multiple matches with this tactic.
Elevenless from Wings of Dawn, Lucky Southern Persian from Seventh Heaven, Kitty Likes Meat from Ruling Sword – these three were competitors this season that everyone discussed the most. They all had the ability to determine the outcome of a match.
“It’s alright to lose one or two matches; it won’t affect us from entering into the top 16,” Square Root 3 assured upon seeing that Lu Li’s expression looked very serious.

“It’s best to not lose when we can avoid it. How long is it until the match?” Lu Li asked as he shook his head.
“About another six or seven hours. The match is in the afternoon.”
Square Root 3 had no clue why Lu Li was so determined; the points would be reset after the top 16 had been decided. Some guilds would even lose matches on purpose.
It wasn’t new for people to be controlling the wins and losses of competitions.
For example, guilds like Ruling Sword with enough points to enter the top 16 could choose to lose a particular match on purpose. Of course, their opponent would definitely have to pay them a huge sum of money.
There were plenty of guilds out there who were willing to spend money to not get disqualified. Not every guild was as poor as Ruling Sword.
Lu Li contacted his own team members, a group of twenty players from the Xin Xin Mercenary Group and competitors from the club. He had also found a few trustworthy players from the guild.
The Badlands were located in the eastern part of Azeroth. Over the ground flowed hot lava, and the air swirled with fire. There wasn’t even the slightest cool zone in this arid land. Only plants like cactuses could survive in such harsh conditions.
However, the Badlands were rich with Mithril and Thorium, so there were still many players who were willing to withstand the heat here for the minerals.
The Trolls patrolled this area and their footsteps shook the continent as they wandered and searched for those who were in trouble. The lions hid in the valleys, patiently awaiting their chance to move. Young dragons that were hunting flew past the sky, along with the Rockjaws and Dark Iron Dwarves. This was the reason why this place was referred to as the Badlands.
The first thing that Lu Li and the others encountered upon arrival was a battle.
This was why he had teamed up with so many players; even an average level 55 monster was beyond his ability. It was a death wish to try and Stealth between these monsters.

“Who are we looking for?” Azure Sea Breeze didn’t like the weather here; he was covered in heavy, plated armor.
“A Dwarf – his name is Theldurin the Lost, originally a member of the Twilight Hammer. He later on left the Hammer and escaped with the help of his two friends,” Lu Li explained. “In one of the stories about the Earth Elemental Princess, it said that when Theldurin escaped, he brought a Scroll of Myzrael with him.
“What does the Scroll of Myzrael do?” Listening to Lu LI’s stories at least helped everyone redirect their attention from the heat.
“Myzrael is the name of the Earth Elemental Princess. The scroll, of course, is used to summon her,” Lu Li continued as he ripped off his face cover. In an environment like this, he wanted to take of all his equipment, but he knew that this was impossible. The dangerous monsters here prevented him from doing so.
Their destination was on a hill near Aggramar’s Hammer. Once they climbed on, they would run into a trio of three NPCs, Theldurin the Lost (Dwarf), Lucien Tosselwrench (Gnome) and Martek the Exiled (Tauren).
“Don’t worry, we’re not bad people,” Lu Li said as he called for a halt.
His team of twenty had frightened the NPC trio and they almost attacked them. They tried their best to contain themselves after Lu Li called stop, but clearly, they were still on guard.
“Hachi Chan, come here,” Lu Li beckoned as he took two steps back.
This was how awkward it was to have a low Charm level. Not only did he fail to activate the quest, but they probably would have even entered battle if he didn’t react fast enough.
“We’re wandering adventures. Do you guys happen to know an uncle called Theldurin?” Hachi Chan asked based on what Lu Li had told him. Her appearance immediately made the anxiety in the air disappear.
“Mmm, I am child. What is it that you want?” the Dwarf asked as he placed down his weapon.
Lu Li felt sorry for himself. Even if reincarnation didn’t make him invincible, at the very least, it didn’t have to make him so hated by all.
“I heard that you have a Scroll of Myzrael. I want to know what it’s used for, uncle…”
Hachi Chan asked for information straight up. If it was Lu Li who had asked like this, chances were, he would most likely get a punch in the face.
However, Hachi Chan had no need to beat around the bush. The way that she attempted quests had always been simple and plain.
She was a famous player in the forums and had written plenty of guides for quests, but no one dared to attempt them with her methods. Not only were the chances of failure too high, but they were also often accompanied by life threatening experiences.
Not everyone was fortunate enough to be the daughter or son of the System.
“Scr…Scroll of Myzrael?! Why would you want that for? Its strong magic summons Myzrael; we’d be in big trouble then!” Theldurin the Lost exclaimed.
“Uncle, don’t worry. My friends will protect me,” Hachi Chan assured as she patted her flat chest.
“I’m not questioning the strength of your friends,” Theldurin the Lost began. He had been placed in a bit of an awkward spot.
“It’s just…unfortunately, it has been destroyed. The elementals stole the scroll and ripped it into pieces. If you could collect these pieces, we might be able to repair it back to its original form.”
“Where do these elementals live?” Hachi Chan asked.
Theldurin showed her the location where the elementals spawned, and had the Gnome apply a refreshing buff onto Lu Li and the others. Everyone instantly felt the heat leave their bodies.
This apparently was the blessing that the NPC gave to everyone because he felt sorry for Hachi Chan bearing with the heat.

THE AUTHOR IS TAKING SOME TIME OFF.NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SMALL HIATUS MENTIONED LATER ON THE DESCRIPTION. WRITING WILL RESUME LATER THIS MONTH (FEBRUARY). Don't you just hate it when you're walking home from school and you accidentally stumble into another dimension? And now you're stuck in there with no way out, thinking of what to do in this medieval kinda world. Well at least it seems safe...It seems that some people have problem with multiple POV (Point of View) characters and so I'm deciding to alter the description to mention, that sometimes in the story we see the world from other people's point of view than our MC's (Main Character). But there is a MC and the point of view changes are few, except for short point after the season 1 ends. These are mostly done to expand the world and introduce plot elements, nothing more. This story is written in manner of seasons, which aren't marked in the chapter titles and don't really affect your reading experience, but between the seasons are small, 2-7 day hiatuses so the writer can rest and plan.Oh, the website released a mature-content tagging rules, so here: Warning, Mature [17+] Violence, gore and occasional swearing. Mainly put it at 17+ so it doesn't restrict me, but story could be considered as 15+, no way 18+ though.
