The Great Thief Chapter 690: Useless In The Critical Moment

A monster suddenly emerged from a corner in front of Cain's Left Hand and he ran right into it.

Although he was in Stealth, getting so close to something was more than Stealth could handle.

Stealth could be used to prevent a monster from noticing you, but you needed to keep a distance. If you collided with a monster, then even Stealth couldn't save you.

This was exactly what happened to Cain's Left Hand.

His teammates behind him held their breath as they hesitated on whether they should just leave him. The others that were further away stayed put so that they wouldn't need to get involved.

However, that wasn't how the situation played out.

Cain's Left Hand was a Thief and he had many skills. In battle, a Thief often found themselves in unexpected situations, so this surprise didn't stop him from activating a special effect.

This was why Lu Li had asked him to come along.

After he activated his special effect, Cain's Left Hand turned into a dark cloud that the monster simply walked through, as if it hadn't touched anything. It looked around before turning its head and going the other direction.

The dark cloud rolled around for a bit before transforming back into Cain's Left Hand.

He had lost 50% of his HP!

This was the price he paid. Hachi Chan quickly topped up his HP while the special effect went on cooldown. He could use it again in two minutes.

However, that wasn't the extent of what it could do. If Lu Li and the others were standing right next to Cain's Left Hand, everyone would turn into the dark cloud. Lu Li had called him mainly to help conceal Hachi Chan and Deep Watersong.

After this crisis passed, they quickly arrived before the Water Elemental Noxxion.

"This water pet is so adorable," Hachi Chan said. Lu Li had no idea what she was talking about; its appearance was blurry and bloated. Lu Li really couldn't tell what was cute about it.

"Watersong, you go ahead. Just be careful, this monster…"

Before Lu Li could even finish, Deep Watersong had already rushed in. The Water Elemental punched Deep Watersong with so much force that his Bear Form was flung into the air before slamming into a wall.

This was quite a miserable sight.

Lu Li shook his head, thinking that this child was quite impulsive.

The Elemental's attack damaged the Tank for a sizeable chunk of his HP and even had a Stun effect.

"You dare trespass the territory of the royal highness? Now, you must die," Noxxion said as he launched a slew of Frostbolts towards them.

"Get out of the way!" Lu Li shouted as he tumbled to dodge the oversized Frostbolt.

Water Fairy and Cain's Left Hand heard Lu Li's order and subconsciously followed him. Hachi Chan wasn't standing in the line of fire, so the Frostbolt couldn't hit her anyway. As for Deep Watersong, he was still up against the wall.

Without considering the damage value, the most important thing about the Frostbolt was the application of Frostbite. Frostbite would deal damage over time, slow movement speed, and reduce the effect of healing by 20%. This meant that if a healer could heal you for 100HP, they would now only heal for 80HP.

"How do I avoid getting knocked away by him?"

Deep Watersong had finally recovered, he had been hit so hard that he was still a little scared.

"It won't do that again for a while, but when it's about to hit you, a white circle will appear at your feet. If you stand outside that circle, you won't get knocked away," Lu Li explained.

Noxxion wasn't a difficult Boss, provided you knew the strategy. However, if you had to properly test it, you were bound to get wiped.

Regardless, Noxxion had already used the attack and it wasn't too unbelievable that Lu Li would be able to point out the white circle. Everyone simply thought that Lu Li had thorough observational skills.

Noxxion also had a skill which summoned monsters, but they were quite weak and were easily dealt with.

Additionally, he also had Toxic Volley, which was similar to the first Boss's Twisted Tranquility. It was usually enough to throw the players into confusion and result in a team wipe. Unfortunately for Noxxion, it was cancelled out by Hachi Chan's Enhanced Tranquility.

While Toxic Volley's cooldown was shorter, all five players were experts who had a few damage reduction skills. Lu Li even had a skill that made him completely immune to damage. They also had their own HP-regenerating skills and could still take potions, so it wasn't so easy to kill them.

Princess Theradras was initially wary of the quiet demon, but Vyletongue quickly demonstrated his value. He created many evil servants for her, like Noxxion and Razorlash.

As such, Princess Theradras drew out an area for him and made him the ruler of it.

As for assisting or joining the Burning Legion, the Princess' attitude was inexplicable, which meant the progress of negotiations had been halted. Vyletongue was currently quite anxious about it.

Maraudon was a lush green area with beautiful scenery. It could even be considered as the most beautiful Instance Dungeon.

However, the once-beautiful amethyst caves had been defiled by Vyletongue. The only thing that could grow here was the Vyletongue Vine.

Vyletongue could use these vines to attack the players. The most direct and efficient way of dealing with them was with a Fire Mage, who could burn the plants and also destroy them at the roots.
