The Rise of the White Lotus Chapter 384 – Will you marry me later?

Under Ethan Lu’s tyrannical orders, Lyrick Jiang, Jarred Guo, and Nico Zhuang had to stay at the yang manor for the rest of the day. Of course, the only way the three could vent their complaints was to weep internally because their quest as baby sitters wasn’t done yet.

“Oh, good old days… How I miss the time that I only had to babysit Master and bribe him to come to the office.” Reminiscing the slightly better past, Lyrick Jiang nearly sobbed as taking care of the mischievous Ethan Lu in the past was nothing compared to two infants who were crying without any reason that he could determine.

“Just when I thought that coming from being a captain of squad two to being Master’s driver was the worst demotion— here I am, being transferred to a babysitter. Justice, oh where’s the justice? I can’t see it.” Sounding as if he was being drained of his life force, Jarred Guo nearly sang his last sentence as he could not see the sliver of hope in their situation that they were in.

“Yes, it should be delivered today. Thank you, keep me on track.” Unlike the two whimpering lads, Nico Zhuang had no time to chime in as he knew that he would just waste time if he does. Therefore, while he was physically present in the yang manor, he was also working to keep track of Beauty DR’s operations and deliveries.

Turning to Nico Zhuang who just finished the call, was seemingly prepared to dial another person already, the two complaining men could not help but twitch their under-eye. In their eyes, Nico Zhuang truly embraced the fact that he was now Lexi’s personal assistant and fully forgotten the fact that he was still a captain in one of Ethan Lu’s shadow squads.

“Rick, you are really lucky that Nico chose to be a guard and not master’s assistant.” Glancing at the dismayed Lyrick Jiang, Jarred Guo diverted his attention and decided to vent his frustrations by annoying his colleague.

“He’s a show-off! A show-off!” Gritting his teeth, part of Lyrick Jiang was ticked off because seeing that Nico Zhuang could still work under their current state— fully functioning and level headed— Lyrick Jiang growled.

“Scram.” Cold and emotionless, Nico Zhuang only cast the agitated Lyrick Jiang a glare before he spat that one word. Without waiting for another round of nonsensical banter from his colleagues, Nico Zhuang stood from his seat as the two were rather noisy and he needed some peace and quiet to supervise Lexi’s people.

“No, I can’t lose at this job as well.” Profusely shaking his head as if his position as Ethan Lu’s executive assistant was being threatened, Lyrick Jiang hurriedly picked up his phone and checked his emails.

Now, not only was it just Nico Zhuang doing something productive but Lyrick Jiang as well as he entered his work mode zone. Hence, only Jarred Guo was left with nothing to do. With that thought in mind, Jarred Guo could only heave a heavy sigh as he decided to catch up on some sleep once more.

“Maybe, being a professional idler is the career I am meant to have.” He murmured before slowly resting on the couch in the living area of the Yang Mansion.

Since Lexi had a bountiful supply of the gold liquid, she managed to stock up her twins with a good amount of some stash so Ethan Lu could feed them as well. Holding the clingy Evan Lu, Lexi gently patted the baby’s bum to sleep again while Ethan Lu was now slowly putting Lady Lara Lu down in her crib.

“Love?” Low yet audible, Ethan Lu tenderly patted his princess’s bum to make sure that she continued sleeping and called Lexi that was on the bed with Evan Lu who liked being close to his mother.

“Hmm?” Without turning her attention to Ethan Lu, Lexi hummed a questioning tune as her gaze was all on her little boy. She was admiring how adorable her baby boy is and was mesmerized by his cuteness.

In retrospect, Lexi always thought that infants looked all the same. There was really no telling what the difference is before they reach a certain age. But now, she could clearly see that her children were not like any other kids. Well, maybe because they were her kids and she thought that they were the cutest of cute in the little organization of babies.

“Can we talk for a while…?”

Upon hearing Ethan Lu’s request, Lexi slightly knitted her brows as her head slowly turned towards her partner’s direction that was now sitting on the edge of the mattress. “Sure, what is it?” Slowly, Lexi put Evan Lu to sleep on his side as he was still feeding on the bottle before she carefully repositioned herself to face Ethan Lu.

“Love, about us…” Contemplating how he should put it, Ethan Lu paused. Alas, the instant Lexi heard the word “us”, she already got the gist of what he wanted to talk about; their wedding that was being pushed back.

“Love, didn’t we already agree that we’ll wait until the twins can walk so they could participate in the wedding as a ring bearer and flower girl?” Softly, an unreadable sigh escaped Lexi’s mouth as they already talked about this matter and agreed on the final decision. Hence, at this moment, Lexi and Ethan Lu took their time taking care of the twins without a thought to anything.

“Yes, and I wanted that as well, but…” Heavily sighing, Ethan Lu scrutinized Lexi’s still beautiful front before he stood from the side of the bed and knelt on his one knee which made Lexi furrowed her s.e.xy brows. In her eyes, Ethan Lu seemed as if he was proposing, again.

“My love, I am worried that even though we are happy and had the twins, it bothers me that we are not legally married in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of God. Though I wanted to marry you in the grandest way possible and I also wanted the twins to take part in it. It still bothers me that we still have not been married yet.” Explaining his side and what bothers him throughout the whole pregnancy journey until now, Ethan Lu frowned a little.

“So, my love, will you marry me later?” From frowning, the corner of his lips subtly curled upward as he proposed again and this time, he made sure to leave a date to get their marriage license.
