Everyone’s eyes were on him and were slightly stunned to see a different kind of smile plastered on his face. Ethan Lu had always borne this smile that had always made them feel the distance between them, therefore, for him to have this subtle yet gentle gaze in his eyes, it caught them off guard. Alas, they were unsure of to whom he was looking… he seemed to be staring at Evelyn Lu. Unbeknownst to them, he was shooting hearts at Lexi standing behind his cousin.

“Master Lu!” Snapping from her momentary stupor, Stella Du heedlessly called out as she panicked. Did he hear her earlier? Did he see her slip from her etiquette and manners?

“What’s going on?” Arching his brows, Ethan Lu finally broke his loving gaze from Lexi as a displeased look instantly covered his loving eyes from earlier as if his gentleness earlier was just one’s figment of their imagination.

Ethan Lu shifted his gaze from Lexi to his cousin, Evelyn Lu, and then to the woman who called him before it traveled back to Elliot Gong. The instant his gaze landed on him, Elliot Gong looked back at him with the same disdainful gaze.

‘Oi! I didn’t do anything!’ Elliot Gong defended inwardly as he clearly saw the drastic change of look when his dear friend Ethan Lu’s eyes stopped on him.

“Master, based from the intelligence report, Miss Du was causing trouble and was the first to pick on Miss Yang.” As if on cue, Lyrick Jiang reported from behind and purposely raised his voice for the said woman to hear. Stella Du’s complexion turned even paler upon hearing the unhalting assistant of Ethan Lu.

‘Intelligence report? What? You already got your gossip in a fraction of a second?!’ Hearing the romanticization of Lyrick Jiang of his gossip gathering skill, Ethan Lu could not help his brows but twitch a little. Aside from him, Lexi also let out a faint chuckle as she could read her man’s thoughts clearly.

“Master Lu, that’s not it! I— I am just talking to Lexi and—” Stella Du frantically defended herself, alas, when she caught the figure of Nico Zhuang standing beside Ethan Lu, her words were stuck on her throat because Nico Zhuang peered at her with a deadly, cold gaze— as if telling her to shut up that instant.

“That’s right! She’s slandering my goddess Lexi! The nerve of this ugly fool! Telling goddess Lexi she’s sleeping around with men!” The ever-restless Evelyn Lu, of course, could not help but fume as the words that didn’t process well earlier, due to her busy imagination, finally sunk into her mind. Therefore, she pointed at the shameless villain Stella Du and tattled on her to him.

“Sleeping around with men?” Glancing at Stella Du, Ethan Lu’s eyes darkened as he was irked at what he heard just now. His gaze then traveled to everyone nearby that was looking at him. When his eyes met theirs, a cold chill ruan down their spine especially men who received a threatening gaze from Ethan Lu that made them unconsciously swallow a mouthful of saliva.

“Yes!” Affirming what he heard, Evelyn Lu took a step forward as she locked her eyes on Ethan Lu. “Brother Tan, please teach this ugly girl a lesson for running her mouth without substance! Give my goddess a fair justice!”

When Lexi heard Evelyn Lu call him brother tan, her brows arched as she glanced the small lolita’s back. Her curiosity towards the girl heightened as she wondered what her connection to Ethan Lu would be. Well, Lexi actually never thought that Evelyn Lu would be a Lu as she was also rather shortsighted and runs her mouth without thinking.

“Eve,” Returning his gaze to his cousin, Ethan Lu’s tone turned to a warning tone. “Don’t insult people just because they insulted your idol.” Upon hearing this, Stella Du’s anxiousness reduced a little as she heaved a sigh of relief. To her, she thought that Ethan Lu’s attention was averted to Evelyn Lu’s continuous blabber.

Ethan Lu then cooly took steps towards Evelyn Lu, or rather to Lexi. It was just that his cousin was standing in front of her. His gaze staring right back at her and the side of his lips slightly curled.

“Hi,” He greeted still bearing his gentle smile.

“Hello.” Lexi bit her inner bottom lip as she restrained herself from laughing out loud by his silly greeting and how he restrained himself.

Of course, the few people who already had the taste of these two’s dogfood could no help but cringed, especially Elliot Gong because, in his eyes, they were clearly flirting!

“You look beautiful.” Staring at Lexi, Ethan Lu complimented because she was indeed too perfect in his eyes as if there was not any part of her that wasn’t pretty.

Those three words, one sentence, everyone was utterly flabbergasted. Throughout the night, Ethan Lu would always say ‘good’ or ‘nice’ but now, he directly complimented Lexi without being under anyone’s pressure. Not to mention, the same different gentle eyes that only he has shown to her.

“Thank you, you too.” Letting out a chuckle, Lexi slightly shook her head sideways as she uttered her thanks and complimented him back.

“Oh ho! Miss Yang! You’ve arrived! Though it’s rather late that made me wait forever!” Suddenly, Edward Lu’s voice was heard from the crowd as he made slow steps with the help of his cane and followed by a group of influential men.

“My apologies, old master Lu.” Lexi politely bowed her head after she turned to face the approaching Edward Lu.

“Aiya, how long are you going to keep me calling that? Grandpa is fine.” Once Edward Lu’s last remarks were heard, not just the guests who were already flabbergasted but also the rest of the core members of the Lu family were dumbfounded.
