The Rise of the White Lotus Chapter 32 – Three Versus One

‘I am not blushing. This is me being insulted.’ Lexi defended in a matter of factly tone. She just couldn’t believe that she was being hit on by the infamous casanova who she believed had done this act before to god knows how many women.

A person as proud as Lexi, she had too much pride in her that she felt degraded being flirted by Ethan Lu, even though she had a task to seduce him in the first place. However, now that she had a glimpse of his flirtatious nature, Lexi was struck by a sudden headache.

‘Why did I committed suicide in the first place?’ She briefly massaged both of her temples before heading to the specified dining hall where all the important guest of the Yue family were gathered.

Arriving at the said dining area, as usual, Lexi headed to her designated seat and conversed with everyone as much as possible albeit gingerly. She won’t forget her number one rule; act with discreet modesty. She shouldn’t need to try too hard to snatch the spotlight from the young madam chairwoman of the said company. It’s one of her own guidelines in life — which of course she had forgotten before.

Throwing that horrendous and degrading past at the back of her mind, Lexi dines with the respected business personalities. Alas, despite Lexi not pushing her luck that much, in the eyes of many, she was indeed standing out among the women present. She could keep up with business talks and their hobbies. She knew a thing or two which merited her a great benefit from these businessmen and to the whole Yang family.

“Miss Yang, this might come as an offense but it never occurs to me that the Young Miss of the Yang family is indeed an admirable woman.” CEO Tang who was one of the distinguished guests and also one of the prominent families in the top social ladder that can be on par with the Liu Family bluntly complimented.

“CEO Tang thinks too highly of me but I’m flattered by your kind words.” Lexi smiled sweetly and responded elegantly. Since CEO Tang was always as blunt just like that especially with Wren Tanaka earlier, Lexi took his words as a compliment. After all, he was a respected man and for him to say that he didn’t expect something from her, it was a great asset to take advantage of this good impression. Surely, Wren Tanaka was right; she could broaden her connection in this banquet with people she didn’t know she could reach. However, it still hadn’t got through her head as Lexi comprehend that it wasn’t enough to consider them as prospective business partners in the future just yet.

“She is indeed admirable and beautiful… one of a kind.” Out of the blue, Ethan Liu chimed in and backed up CEO Tang’s words. Since the Lu family was also one of the top families that had close ties with the Liu Family, Ethan Lu was able to mingle with them as he had the same footing.

His remarks, of course, sent shudders through Lexi’s spine. Again, he was obviously hitting on her, right? Yet, Lexi could only smile despite that she was irked by Ethan’s hidden agenda.

“Director Lu, you are too kind to say such compliments but I greatly appreciate it.”

CEO Tang on the side smiled brightly seeing the chemistry between the young master of the Lu family and Lexi Yang. Since he’s a busybody on the inside, his attention was diverted with these youngsters. After all, Wren Tanaka, his best buddy, and Chairwoman Yue weren’t around, hence, he found two perfect people who he could tease.

“Director Lu seems to be an acquaintance of Miss Yang?” CEO Tang probed mischievously. By the looks of it, he was insinuating something. With his status and the environment of the business words, Lexi shouldn’t be bothered by it but to her dismay, she was secretly disturbed.

“Yes, chu~! She will seduce him but it seems the other way is happening, chu~!” Churu who was with Ethan Lu’s shoulder earlier flew to CEO Tang’s ear and whispered that came out as a shout and blurted out with enthusiasm. Lexi who was the only person who was witnessing this could not help the side of her lips but twitch.

It was as if she was going through the greatest hurdle of her life with CEO Tang and Churu indirectly rooting for the flirtatious man Ethan Lu. On the other hand, Ethan Lu who understood the meaning behind CEO Tang’s giddy words smiled in satisfaction.

“We are, aren’t we Miss Yang?”

“Ha ha, Y- yes.” as awkward as it may sound, Lexi stuttered in agreement. Alas, her reaction only made the old man CEO Tang, the cute dumpling Churu, and the flirtatious Ethan Lu’s eyes lit up.

Seeing the energy channeling from their eyes, Lexi almost gasped in disbelief. Does the three of them were trying to take down her defenses? In Lexi’s perspective, they were subconsciously collaborating into something that they’re unaware of.

“So cute…” All of a sudden, Lexi heard a faint statement from Ethan’s amused smile. He uttered such finger curling words which almost cause Lexi to bring out a white flag in defeat.
