The Rise of the White Lotus Chapter 31 – Did you miss me?

Seeing her frowning expression, Ethan Lu was rather glad that he did pull this simple trick to her. She always bears her proud, beautiful front that makes her seemed unapproachable. Also, her different expressions were akin to a rare pokemon that could only be seen with a gamble. Hence, it was rather worth it to him.

Smiling back at her as he slid both his hand inside his pockets, Ethan Lu never felt this elation before. It’s as if he was back to being a kid finding the little joy teasing some other kid.

“Young Master Lu, aren’t you too old to pull this kind of prank?” As usual, Lexi was unappreciative of his action yet, it doesn’t mean she was mad about it.

“Hehe, am I?” Ethan Lu tilted his head on the side bearing his playful nature as he feigns innocence. Seeing Lexi up close, he must admit that her unapproachable demeanor was quite fun to tease.

Shaking her head in disbelief, Lexi blurted out without thinking too much which she regretted the moment she realized her words, “where have you been any –” she instantly pursed her lips, now wanting to slap her mouth for spouting such nonsense.

“Oh ho, Miss Yang, did you miss me?”

Indeed, this is the reason why she regretted her heedless thoughts. Though she didn’t intend it that way, Ethan Lu will surely take it the other way and would spat some unethical and not good for the heart kind of words.

“Hihi, nice move Mr. Initial Task!” Churu giggled and flew to Ethan Lu’s shoulder. She sat there with comfort as both her tiny legs swung to and fro. Seeing that, Lexi could feel the lower part of her eyes twitch. Surely, Ethan Lu’s number one fan is Churu or rather, the little dumpling can’t wait for her to complete her task. Gravitating the pros and cons, Lexi was well-informed that she’ll gain more benefits than her loses, after all, the system only stated that make him fall for her alone.

“What if I did?” Lexi glanced at Ethan’s smug grin before responding. Her answer made the grin that was plastered across Ethan Lu’s freeze. Apparently, he didn’t expect that answer from her which caught him off guard. He was expecting that she would either ignore him or maybe keep showing her displeasure… but for her to flirt back? That’s out of the list.

However, Ethan Lu did underestimate how flexible Lexi’s mind could be. She can adapt easily and surprises him in many ways. Hence, his interest to her was slowly growing albeit not in a romantic way. After all, she was Morris Liu’s ex-fiance and even if their long-time engagement was called off, the fact that she had a history with his buddy won’t change. The very reason why he sometimes restricts himself from overdoing it.

“Pfft– we’re even now.” Lexi scoffed, which sounded almost like a short chuckle, after seeing Ethan’s stunned expression. For some reason, she found it funny how ironic it is when Ethan Lu is a tease but could make such an expression when he was being teased. Unbeknownst to her knowledge, it was also Ethan Lu’s first time to be stunned like this. He couldn’t comprehend why he made such a reaction as well.

Was it because he was certain that Lexi will never tease him back? Or because she was too proud and only showed her feelings to Morris Liu that Ethan didn’t see it coming? Regardless, the flirt nature of Ethan was piqued almost making him forget about his unspoken brother’s code.

Lexi turned her back against him with a smug smirk on the side of her lips. She didn’t know that her heedless remarks would impact him in a way — slowly boosting her crashed ego. After all, from all the flirting and seducing she did to Morris Liu, she always thought that she only had the beauty not the art of seduction.

“Are we?” Suddenly, Lexi felt a cold running down her spine when a tingling breath touch her ears. Ethan Lu breathes his words on her ear for a moment before resuming his tracks towards the way where they were originally heading. Slightly turning his gaze back to Lexi’s, he winked at her before going ahead first.

Lexi on the other hand steadily fluttered her eyelids. She cannot believe that Ethan took his seduction scheme to another level. ‘Did he… really,’ She couldn’t even finish her thoughts because of his audacity.

Granting that numerous men tried to hit on her from the past, alas, Lexi wouldn’t budge as she set her eyes on Morris Liu, alone. Moreover, they couldn’t even enter her vicinity because she would mercilessly degrade and humiliate those men without batting an eye. However, now that she was forced to be associate with Ethan Lu, we can assume that what happened is quite new to her.

“Hihi, you’re blushing, chu~!” out of nowhere, Churu who was taken away with Ethan earlier came back to her and witnessed with her pair of round eyes that Lexi was slightly blushing; whether it was because she felt embarrassed or was affected by Ethan’s charm — Churu could not care less as what clear to her is that Lexi fully piqued Ethan’s interest.
