The Rise of the White Lotus Chapter 29 – Leaving good impression

When Lexi came back to the hotel’s function hall, the event started with the Queen of Multimedia; Marga Yue as the host which was a little grandiose. After all, Marga was a well-respected senior in the entertainment industry even though they were at the same age.

‘So, Marga is related to this family… I see.’

Since she was just stating some formal courtesy, Lexi went straight to her table and sat beside Nadine. Subconsciously looking around, for some reason she still can’t spot Ethan Lu.

Reminiscing about their conversation through emails, it’s not that she refused his offer — it’s actually the opposite. She indirectly accepted his offer but of course, as a prideful person as she can be, she told him they’d better arrived with their own ride as she made an excuse of having a short meeting before heading to the Yue family event.

Moreover, she was at the redeeming phase of her life and arriving with Ethan Lu; her ex-fiance’s best buddy might spark another controversy and would dig a deeper pit for her damaged reputation.

However, it’s somewhat baffling that Ethan Lu would be late in this kind of event even though he said he was stuck in a traffic jam. Shrugging the thought off, Lexi conversed with other businessmen and famous personality from time to time, until, the new chairwoman of the Yue International Enterprise took on the stage which everyone subconsciously paid more attentive.

The woman on the stage was wearing a smart casual business suit with her neatly arranged low bun and weird myopia glasses. However, even if the chairwoman deliberately concealed herself to not stood out, Lexi could guess the beauty behind the unintentional guise.

The moment Lexi heard the new chairwoman voice speak through the microphone, Lexi froze hearing the same familiar voice from earlier in the ladies restroom.

‘It’s her?’ She thought inwardly. So, does that mean to say she heard all the insult Che Diayu blurted out? Lexi paid extra attention to the young woman who became the new head of the prominent company and assessed her meticulously.

Listening to the bold announcement coming from the new leader of the said company, a huge uproar was heard from the employees and other business partners, even to the seemingly shareholders were quite surprised with the announcements.

Regardless, Lexi could not care less as she only heard about this family from Wren a few days ago. Whether they aim to be the top or not, Lexi won’t care as long as it won’t trouble her family.

The speech of Chairwoman Yue ended leaving a huge impact on most of her guest, even to her. Glancing at her surrounding, Lexi spotted Wren Tanaka’s grinned from ear to ear which slightly confused her.

Probably sensing her gaze, Wren turned his head to her who was not far away from him. Seeing her presence, Wren’s eyes lit up and cheerfully made his way to her.

“Miss Yang! You came?”

“Yes. Nice seeing you, Mr. Tanaka.” Lexi courtly replied to the surprisingly humble businessman.

“How was it so far? Isn’t she great?” Wren who’s pair of eyes were gleaming like a little kid that saw his idol, he inquired. Lexi on the other hand slightly nodded in agreement.

Excitedly clasping his hands together, Wren invited, “Ah, right. I’ll introduce you to her.” Of course, Lexi won’t let the opportunity slide as she nodded in agreement and followed Wren to his circle of friend.

Lexi must admit that she felt overwhelmed being surrounded with respectable and influential men and converse with them with the knowledge she studied for a few days. Hence, she could keep up with the conversation without embarrassing herself.

Soon, Lexi felt a little relaxed as she was confident that she was doing a great job. However, for some reason, she was reminded that something was amiss. It was as if she was forgetting something important… it was Churu. After Churu checked what was going on earlier, she didn’t come back since then.

But knowing Churu, Lexi shrugged the matter off as she was certain that Churu will just suddenly appear out of nowhere. Soon, the newly appointed head of the Yue International Enterprise, Seraphina Yue arrived in their area while being escorted by the doctor prince, Liam Jin.

Surely, Lexi’s view towards this capable odd woman leaps to a new horizon. After all, the Jin Medical Group is monopolizing the whole medical industry and the first choice of the top families when it comes to their health.

Wren: “Chairwoman, even if you didn’t dress up, your beauty shines the brightest.”

“Haha! I heard Mr. Tanaka have a good relationship with Madam Yue?” another business tycoon, Mr. Tang said giddily.

Wren: “Hehe. Chairwoman is my good friend. She helped me a couple of time when we were at country y. If it wasn’t for Sera, I’m afraid my company isn’t what it is, now. Right, Chairwoman Yue?”

Seraphina Yue: “Huh, Mr. Tanaka thinks too highly of me. Alas, it’s true. After all, I’m a better businessman than him.”

Hearing her statement, Lexi almost spilled her champagne by the shameless acceptance of her own capabilities. Surely, the chairwoman and Wren’s relationship is much deeper than expected. Glancing at the respectable Liam Jim, Lexi could not care less about the inexpressive of the elegant man.

Lexi once in a while chimed into their conversation but doesn’t overdo it — just enough to leave a remarkable impression to them. However, as an observer, she can’t help her lips twitch hearing Wren’s ambiguous and misleading words. Is he attacking Seraphina Yue or Liam Jin? To her perspective, Wren might or might not intend to say such words especially in front of someone’s fiance as he had a different culture.

After some time, Lexi finally found the perfect time to keep up with the conversation when it was diverted to a business discussion.

Unbeknownst to her, the ever enticing Ethan Lu was watching not far away from her with a seductive smile on his red thin lips.
