The Rise of the White Lotus Chapter 27 – A call from Mr. Lu

“Are you crazy? Look what you did to my dress?” Che Diayu sassed in disbelief. Currently, another female who seemed to be an employee attendee spilled her juice to Che Diayu’s dress. Of course, Lexi who witnessed the scene made the side of her lips curled upward. After all, it won’t hurt to have a little entertainment.

“I– I’m sorry. It’s an a–accident.”

“Don’t touch me! Do you want to ruin it even further with those dirty hands of yours?!” Che Diayu abruptly slapped the hands of the apologetic girl with her bloodshot eyes. Surely, as audacious as she can be, Che Diayu won’t let this instance to passed without getting back on the normal employee.

Soon, the commotion drew more attention as another female colleague of the one who spilled her juice defended her which of course made Che Diayu vexed even more. From what Lexi heard, it was Che Diayu’s fault that the juice was spilled but then again, she accused the poor female employee and flaunt her family status– not acknowledging her mistake.

Lexi slightly shook her head, feeling sorry to the one who was being wronged. Indeed, in this world, only the one who held status and wealth could do whatever they want — even if crushing someone’s future. Hence, those who were normal citizen and family, they could only suck up.

Glancing at Nadine, Lexi’s brows knitted in confusion as she could see the beautiful woman clenched her hand into fist. It was evident that she was annoyed by the injustice that the female experiencing.

“I’m sorry Senior, I’ll have to excuse myself.” Nadine excused herself as she immediately made her way to the scene. Lexi, by instinct also followed suit. For some reason, she wanted to stop Nadine from interfering with something she cannot handle. After all, the Che Family is undeniably wealthy — they could even par with the Yang Family from its recent achievements.

However, just as Nadine neared the commotion, she came to a full stop when a cheerful voice of a man resonated across the vicinity of the commotion.

“Is this Miss Che of Che family, I am seeing?” He inquired which made the raging Che Diayu momentarily zone out. He added; “Oh, it seems you bump into a little mishap here?”

Lexi who’s standing behind Nadine arched her brows. From her point of view, she could see fear from Che Diayu’s eyes as she spat her shameless pretense and turned the table on her favor. Lexi could not be bothered by the shameless 360-degree change of attitude of Che Diayu as she observed Wren Tanaka’s demeanor.

He nodded towards the girl named Wei Wei as if permitting her to escape from Che Diayu’s drama. Glancing at Nadine standing in front of her, she saw her heaved a sigh of relief as the matter has been settled. For some reason, Lexi sees Nadine in a new light. Indeed, this rookie artist wasn’t pretending to be a nice person as she had a kind heart.

Just then, Lexi felt her a phone vibrated inside her purse. Glancing at Nadine’s back, she slid her hand on her small bag to see who was calling her. Alas, seeing Ethan Lu caller ID, Lexi looked around not a shadow of Ethan can be seen.

Inside the empty and beaming from cleanliness restroom, Lexi entered the cubicle without her realizing it before answering Ethan’s call. Since, she cannot find a peaceful place to answer the call, Lexi’s feet dragged her into the hotel’s luxury restroom.

“Heya Miss Yang, I was caught in a traffic jam. So, I’ll be a little late.” The moment the line went through, Ethan Lu’s playful voice was heard.

Hearing his excused, Lexi’s brows twitch. ‘I don’t even care if you can’t even make it.’ She sassed inwardly for the mundane purpose of the call. Does he think she was his girlfriend to call just for that?

Churu who’s hearing Lexi’s thoughts loud and clear apprehended, “you should care, chu! Remember? Hitting two birds with one stone, chu?”

Being reminded by the little dumpling, Lexi sighed before responding in the most calm manner she could to the other end of the line, “Mr. Lu, no worries. Drive safely.”

Half a minute passed before Ethan Lu responded, “alright, see you…”

“See –” before Lexi could even respond, Ethan Lu cut the line abruptly. Looking at her phone with her knitted brows, she was confused why does Ethan Lu sounded odd when he heard her reply. Nonetheless, Lexi couldn’t be bothered as she needed to get back on the function hall.

However, just as Lexi was about to leave the cubicle, she heard someone entered the luxury restroom.

“Status?” Lexi unintentionally eavesdrops and heard the cubicle next to her opened and closed. After a second of silence, she once again heard the melodious yet intimidating voice of a woman. She added;

“Alright. I will be waiting for your good news.”

Lexi’s brows creased as she was somewhat intrigued about the woman. However, the thought was immediately thrown at the back of her head as she couldn’t care less. After all, she had a different agenda; aside from Wren Tanaka, Lexi came to a realization about the underrated Yue family’s power. Obviously, to have such audience and influential guests — the Yue family can be on par to be on the top social ladder.

Hence, if she can build a good connection with the Yue family, it will bring great progress to their family business. Just then, Che Diayu’s frustrated voice rang through the restroom which reminded Lexi of her initial agenda.
