The Rise of the White Lotus Chapter 22 – This is progress, bun bun!
When Lexi arrives home, she immediately headed straight to her father’s study. Knocking on the door, she composed herself as if to conceal that she didn’t rush her way home.
“Come in.” from the inside of the room, she heard her father respond which she instantly abides and went inside the study room. There, she saw his father looking at the pile of documents which she is certain about their companies problem and affairs.
“You’re home, already?” seeing his elegant daughter, he inquired.
Bowing her head to show her respect, Lexi then replied calmly. “Yes.”
Father Yang put his work on a stop as he stood from his desk and started taking strides towards the set of sofas and he gestured his daughter to take a seat. When both father and daughter duo was facing each other, Lexi didn’t go around in circles as she delved into her main concern.
“Are we, perhaps invited to the Yue family event?”
Her first inquiry made Father Yang furrowed his brows in confusion. But seeing the eager eyes of Lexi, he honestly replied. “I received an invitation.”
“Can I present our family?” Lexi’s eyes lit up. Though Wren invited her himself, alas, she wanted to confirm if the Yang family were invited. In that case, it won’t seem that she only squeeze her way to the event by clinging to an influential man and could keep her head high as the representative of the Yang family — without Wren’s help.
“I don’t plan to send anyone or attend to the Yue banquet.” After a brief silence, Frederick Yang slightly shakes his head which made Lexi creased her brows.
“Why? I heard that the Yue family is now rising and building lots of connection. If we attend there, we might find someone who wants to invest in our company and will probably save our company.”

“Lexi… My daughter, I know that. But, it’s the Yue family.”
“What? I don’t understand…”
“Lexi, you won’t understand even if I explain it to you.” Father Yang’s gentle gaze looked at Lexi’s confused and baffled eyes. It’s evident on her that she clearly doesn’t understand his father reasoning but Frederick seemed unwilling to say any clarification.
“Dad, I don’t know the reason behind your refusal but… our company is on the brink of bankruptcy. It’s my fault in the first place why this is happening and Morris — he doesn’t want to help us, really… His real intention is to eat the whole Yang family, you know that.” Lexi closed her eyes and the moment she opens them again, her gaze was filled with detemination.
Though she loved and still has some lingering feelings for Morris, alas, the suicide, the indignation and the scene of her father bootlicking Morris — how can she not forget that the reason why they were in this kind of situation is because of her and her naive young love?
Hence, no matter what, Lexi wanted to free herself and her family from Morris grasp. Moreover, she swore to live a better and happy life. To do that, she has needed to put an end to it by making an arrangement with Wren and Morris. After all, meeting Wren Tanaka in a business meeting is good enough since the man is selling hot in the business industry.
Seeing how determined and knowing the reason why Lexi was too inclined about the event, Frederick let out a heavy sigh. Shaking his head in defeat, he said;
“Alright.”
“Don’t worry. I won’t embarrass our Yang family anymore, Father.” Lexi smiled showing her glee about her father’s decision. Despite humiliating herself by relentlessly chasing Morris Liu in the past, she still carried herself with dignity and pride on any occasion.

After a brief chat with her father, Lexi ultimately excused herself to rest. On her room, Lexi cannot contain her happiness any longer and jumped freely like a little girl.
“Ehh…chu,” Churu on the side who was witnessing the never before seen action of the sophisticated and classy woman, she can’t help but scratch her fluffy cheeks.
“What?”
“It doesn’t suit you, chu.” Churu awkwardly stated after contemplating if should she speaks her mind or not, but in the end, she still bluntly said it anyway.
“I know — but, let me be happy for now alright? This is progress bun-bun.” Lexi who seem to not mind what Churu said, smiled brightly at her. Since Lexi was in high-spirit, soon, it also affected Churu which calls for a celebration.
“Alright… It’s facial mask time, chu!”
