The Rise of the White Lotus Chapter 1 – Suicide

“Why… why!” Lexi Yang screeched as tears uncontrollably fell from her eyes like heavy rains.

“What does she have that I don’t?!” She added as Lexi Yang clenched her hand and pound it on her chest — harder and harder. The excruciating pain she was feeling inside her heart was as if limiting her breathing. She could feel her knees tremble before it gave way — collapsing on the high-end carpeted floor.

She was born rich, smart and beautiful. Every man would desire her to warm her bed, while women envied her, alas, the only man she dedicated her heart — he chose to break it, shattered it into a million pieces.

What more? The indignation and humiliation she experienced a few hours ago made her lose all face. The person behind? It was none other than, Morris Liu.

The once proud young miss of the Yang clan was now known as a white lotus b*tch; a vicious, rotten woman hiding beneath her pure, beautiful shell. All the egregious deed she had done was now aired dry in public.

The respected Lexi Yang because of her elegance and sophistication was now a laughing stock in the entertainment industry and the whole country. How can she bear all this mortification?

“Brother Morris… how can you do this to me? I only loved you but you chose someone who’s not even qualified to lift my heels… why?” Lexi mumbles lifelessly as her gaze raised and stared at the rope she set up earlier.

Indeed, she only loved one man — her childhood sweetheart; Morris Liu. Since birth, both families have been in great terms for decades. Thus, to strengthen the bond between two families even more, Lexi Yang and Morris Liu were put in an arranged marriage.

Despite that fact, how can she not fall for someone like him? She could still remember his gentleness and how the young Morris Liu protected her. His comforting smile whenever she was frustrated about something. His tender pats on her head. Even with a young heart, Lexi swore to marry Morris Liu when she blooms to a beautiful flower.

Years later, Lexi studied abroad to broaden her knowledge — for the sole purpose of being useful to her future husband. However, whether it was distance or the years of her absence, Morris Liu wasn’t the same boy he used to be by the time she came back.

At first, Lexi was confident that she can make Morris Liu fall for her. Unfortunately, someone already dominated his heart. What more, the one he loves was the complete opposite of Lexi’s character.

She has riches, she was smart, independent, and strong. Lexi burned the candle at both ends just to be useful to him in the future. But in the end, he chose a weak, fragile, gentle damsel in distress.

Could she accept it? Of course, she couldn’t. After all, Lexi thought that she was way better than Mia Chen. Lexi brainwashed herself that her beloved Morris Liu was just lost and will soon realize that it was her who he truly needed.

However, love must have taken a great toll on her. She often turns into an unreasonable mad woman just the thought of Mia Chen; the person who stole her man. Slowly, her hate towards the innocent Mia reached the zenith.

Lexi Yang’s simple provocations escalated to harming Mia Chen — physically and emotionally, pushing all the blame to Mia. But, Lexi didn’t see her ways in a wrong way because the pain caused by Mia; stealing her man was the only thing she cares.

But, everything has it’s ending. Just a few hours ago, scandals about her — whether real or false was one of the hottest topics circulated on the internet. Instantly, she was entitled different insults along with demeaning photos.

If that is the only concern, Lexi might have survived all the hate she was receiving. But, knowing who’s behind those scandals and her family’s long-established company being on the edge — how can she forgive herself?

All she had done was love Morris Liu but at the end of the day, he pushed her and her family in the brink of death. Now that everything was said and done, Lexi finally understood that Morris Liu wasn’t the same man she used to love.

“Brother Morris… will my death make you happy? So be it. It’s your loss.” Lexi murmurs for the last time before closing her eyes and she took a deep breath. Opening her eyes, her resolve in ending her life was unwavering as she fixed her eyes on the rope hanging on the curtain handle.

After she climbs the well-crafted chair, Lexi didn’t hesitate to place the noose on her neck and without a second delay, she kicked the chair making it slump on the carpeted floor. She didn’t want to delay anymore, afraid that her resolve would waver.

*THUD*

The instant the thud sound from the chair resonated, Lexi was immediately choked. Her body involuntarily moved — as if struggling to survive but her mind was prepared to leave the world. Soon, Lexi’s consciousness went into the pitch dark abyss of nothingness.

*DING! DING!*

“Chuchururu~! CONGRATULATIONS! Your viciousness score surpassed the preliminary test!”

Lexi couldn’t see nor feel anything. It was as if she turned into a soul inside the space of nothingness. Yet, after hearing a high pitch minion voice of a little girl almost shocked her already dead being to death.

Right away, a faint light shrouded the never-ending darkness, revealing a small bun with cute tiny hands and feet.

“dumpling?”
