Chapter 42
The Silver Sky inn had three floors. Though, it might be more accurate to say four, as there was an underground bathing area. Finding out that this inn also had a bath was enough to make my satisfaction reach its peak.
We were put up in rooms on the third floor. Separate rooms. We didn’t want any more accidents happening! It was important to maintain an environment that was conducive to a peaceful party.
It was decided that we would meet at the dining area for a late lunch after we settled in our rooms. After that, we would go out into the city and leisurely make our way to the guild. Joshua had told us where to find it. Though, there was also a guidebook sold at the counter which I had bought.
Now, I think this is enough unpacking.
The Silver Sky inn faced the city streets, giving you a nice view of Spiris when you opened the window.
“Woah… this place is huge…”
Spiris, the city that spread across the plains. The roads here were flat. Having been built over such calm terrain, it was a good place for people who hated going up slopes and stairs.
But it was also wide. Especially if compared to Fhiraldo. So maybe it wasn’t all that great for people who hated to exercise. Still, it was a city. A big city.
…Right, I can’t be staring out this window all day. I had an appointment in the dining hall. Always be five minutes early. That’s my motto.
I lock up the room and head downstairs. There are decorative objects placed everywhere that look quite expensive. I would have to be careful not to bump into anything here. It could end in me having to sell the ancient elven weapons. No, I would never do that.
I keep a good distance as I pass by and walk through the entrance room and into the dining area. The place looked more like a restaurant. It was completely different compared to the ordinary dining hall at the Spring Wind inn. I was very fond of that place, but I didn’t hate the atmosphere here either. Though, it did make you a little self-conscious about what you were wearing.

In fact, even now I generally wore my convenient store uniform. It had become rather raggedy after being through the forest, fights with monsters and multiple washes. But I couldn’t throw it away. It was the last connection I had to a home I could never return to. I did have underwear and shirts to change into, but this black uniform with its dress shirt and necktie was essentially my best suit. I did sew the parts that had ripped and patched up some holes, but it was becoming clear that I would soon have to start wearing normal clothes from this world… These were more shabby than vintage at this point. Hey, it was just like the hollow bag.
Okay, fine. I would buy new clothes before heading to the guild!
“Asagi. You are blocking me from entering.”
“Oh, Daniela. Sorry, sorry. Let’s eat then.”
Daniela had been waiting behind me. I hadn’t noticed as I was so distracted by my fashion related dilemma…
Not only the restaurant itself, but the food was also incredibly refined. But at the same time, it was still filling. Master Daniela seemed quite satisfied as well. We were now sitting down and enjoying a small break after the meal. There were not many people around as it wasn’t really a mealtime hour.
“Ah, I ate a lot… We should take a walk to help it settle.”
“Oh, Daniela. I want to buy some clothes.”
“Clothes?”
She looks at me with a smirk and folds her arms in front of her. Oh, now this was getting embarrassing…
“Yes, I see it now. I did not care at first, as it is your traditional attire, but it is quite worn, really. I hope it was not like that originally?”
“Of course not. It was very nice at first… But its become a victim of my daily adventures.”
“Well, then you should buy some nice clothes somewhere nearby. Both your rank and your level has gone up on this journey. You might as well change all of your equipment too.”
Huh? Has my rank gone up already? Daniela sees my surprise and chuckles.

“You killed those orcs remember? It would have surely gone up a little.”
“Ohh, right. The wyvern seems to have wiped my memory.”
It had completely escaped me that we did that. Hmm, perhaps I should look at my status. I hadn’t checked it in a while. And so I call it up as I always did.

“Hmm, hmmm… The magic related stats have really gone up.”
“It is because you have been using magic a lot recently. They are making up for all that time when they remained unused.”
I see. Well, I would just have to use them more often then. Still, my AGI has increased at an insane rate…I’ll be creating afterimages soon! Ahahahaha!
“So, what about you, Daniela?”
“Hmm? Me? Status open. Hmm……my level has exceeded 70.”
“Woah, that’s amazing. Congratulations.”
“Thank you. But no, this is actually on the lower end. It is quite difficult for elves to gain experience in proportion to their age. And besides, I had often traveled alone and actively avoided getting into fights.”
Now that I recall, Daniela was close to two hundred years old, I think. It’s crazy. I wonder what that felt like.
“Well, it’s still something to congratulate you on. Let’s celebrate later.”
“Gladly. I want to eat something delicious.”
But you just ate!

We left the restaurant behind us and went out into the city. According to the guidebook, we were currently on the main street. As a newcomer here, I had my nose fixed to the pages as we walked down the streets. The clothing store that was our destination was just down the next road, so I paid attention to not miss it.
Most of the buildings in the city were built of bright colored bricks. Though they were soft, almost pastel-like rather than being vivid. I thought that it rather suited the green grass of the plains. Not that I had much faith in my artistic sensibilities.
“It has grown into a great city… It was but a small countryside town when I last visited here. No, maybe it was a little more developed than that… How was it…”
Daniela was trying very hard to bring back some old memories of this place. I looked at her and smiled.
“Mmm, why are you laughing, Asagi? That is rude!”
“No, no, master Daniela. I was laughing at those street performers over there.”
“Grrrr…!”
I laughed and slapped her on the shoulder as she furrowed her eyebrows angrily. We continued to walk down the street. It was very peaceful. It was the fate of the protagonist to experience some kind of trial after spending some time in peace. But such logic hadn’t proved to be true here. And I wasn’t the protagonist anyway, so there was no need to think of such things. What could possibly happen to us as we turn the corner in this lively city? This world would be a hellhole if such incidents occurred at that frequency. It would be the same as never getting to actually rest.
Now, we just needed to turn this corner and then we would be there. Even the navigator inside of my brain was telling me that ‘you’ve arrived at your destination’ and shutting off. Now, let’s go see some clothes.
And then I walked into a wall.
Dam, it hurt… Wasn’t there supposed to be a street here! I stand up with annoyance and look up from the guidebook.
I am looking at the wall.
That’s not right… Am I that tired?
“Hey, you. That hurt!”
“The wall talked…?”
“Ahh!?”
The wall was a person. Here we go now, an incident.
