They returned home and both of them settled in their room. Feng Xinying changed and slept as soon as she hit the pillow, but Xie Yuansheng had to do more work so he went to his study. There were some emails and important meetings that he had to take care of. When he finished it was 1am. He got up from his chair, stretched his limbs and started to go towards his room. His room was right next to Feng Xinying's room. Not able to resist himself, he opened her door quietly and went inside.

He saw that she was sleeping peacefully and had let her bedside lamp on. The soft, dim light of the bedside lamp was falling on her face making her petite features look all the more beautiful. She had curled because of slight chill in the room, so he covered her with her blanket and sat beside her. Stroking her hair softly, he brought his hand to her cheeks and whispered, "Thanks for coming back to me." Feng Xinying must have been in deep sleep otherwise she would have never allowed him to even get close to him. She would have swatted his hands rudely.

He remembered how depressed she had become in his previous life. Whenever he would come to her and even caress her, her skin would be lined up with goose bumps and she would shrink in fear. He hated to see her running away from him. he hated the fact that she abhorred him. He was so cruel to her that he what he did in is past life was simply not pardonable. Feng Xinying moved her face into his soft and warm hands and snuggled. His face broke into a smile. Bending down he kissed her softly on her cheeks and left the room after switching off the light.

The pain of losing the woman he loved was impossible to bear. He closed the door quietly and went to his room. He knew that it would be a long time for her to trust him. He had to show her that he loved her only in this life and the next. And this time, he will be correct in all his gestures. He would never commit the same mistakes he did in his past life.

When Feng Xinying woke up the next morning, she wondered who had covered her with the blanket and who had switched off her night lamp. She became nervous wondering whether it was Xie Yuansheng.
