Staring at the stats profile of the newly acquired eagle, Nile couldn't help nod his head in approval. Not only was the eagle stronger than him by being at the final stage of level two its various mutated parts were also well suited for combat. Unlike Maximo who focused on defense, and Croco who wanted to become an assassin but still fell short due to its enormous size.
Currently, Nile's stats points were only at 28.75, and for the Final Stage Level Two animal, its strength would be comparable to a human who has 26-30 stats points. Meaning, the eagle could be stronger or weaker than him. But for it to hold and even managing to injure the level two zombie which Nile deemed as stronger than him, he assumed that the eagle was probably stronger than him.
The eagle could gain various advantages due to its flying capability. It would be hard fighting it even more so if he didn't have a proper range weapon.
Due to its white feathers covering its neck and legs, he decided to call it Ogis. Although the eagle doesn't have many white spots as most of its feather color consists of brown and black, he still decided to name it as such. 'It's kind of unique that way.' He thought.
(A/N: White-colored roosters are called Ogis in Cebuano.)
The eagle still had its wing getting injured so it could only hop on trees as it followed behind Nile and the others. If you don't include the size of the bird, one might even mistake it as an eaglet or fledgling practicing its flying techniques.
After a few minutes, they arrived at this abandoned building. They already checked the area and found that it was barren of any potential threats. Nile decided to rest here first to organize his thoughts. He might also be able to avoid the two survivors he saw on the map earlier.
What a shame that using the 360° sensor costs a lot. It would be alright if he could manage to spot a zombie while using the sensor, that way he could offset the apocalypse points he needed to pay during the activation. But if he didn't, that would be disastrous.

This was also the main reason why he opted to make the eagle as his pet. He needed a lookout. More importantly, from above. He could not keep using the sensor so he opted for something more practical. Using his pets.
It was such a good coincidence that the eagle had its eyes mutated, well the eagles already had sharp eyes but with it being mutated, he thought that it would be the best.
Ever since they arrived at this abandoned building, Maximo and Croco were always staring at the new pet eagle. They thought that they had a new challenger who is trying to take part in the contest of having the best pet title. The two glared at the new pet with eyes full of competitiveness.
The eagle was confused at what these two ants are doing. If he was in his best condition, he would surely peck a hole in their head. Seeing the two eyeing him like crazy, Ogis didn't want to lose out as he also glared back.
'Bring it on!'
A staring contest you want? A staring contest you'll get.
And with that, the three pets glared at each other like crazy.
Nile, the owner, could only smile and shake his head at this sight. 'They like their new buddy, huh!'
After a few minutes, Nile decided to break their staring contest with food in his hand. Four identical fruits appeared on his hand. It was the apocalypse berries that he had harvested earlier. One for each of them.
It was still far from noon so this could be considered as their early snack. Though it could not satisfy Maximo and Croco's large stomach, the same could not be said for the bird.
It munched the fruit like crazy and not even a few seconds had passed when the whole fruit was devoured completely.
Screech!
It even produced a loud screech while slightly flapping its wings to demonstrate its happiness.
'What kind of fruit is this? It tastes yummier than those eggs I stole earlier.'
Nile hurriedly smacks the eagle's head upon seeing its actions.
"Don't get us killed We might get flocked later, tsk! Contain your happiness within yourself!" He reprimanded the eagle, Ogis, which the latter complied without a hitch as it hurriedly shut its beak.

"From now on, you will be our lookout from above. Report to me immediately what you will see, alright? Especially zombies, hybrids, and survivors along our path..."
Nile proceeded to explain Ogis' role slowly. The eagle, Ogis, will become the party's scout from now on. He taught it how to communicate using only their thoughts with the help of the earrings of loyalty for faster and effective communication.
Ogis seemed to be staring at Nile dumbfoundedly but after a while, it still decided to nod its head indicating that it understood.
Nile was still worried so he repeated his explanation again, this time, he even slowed down. He was just afraid of the eagle having a literal birdbrain disease.
It could be said that their safety now heavily relies on the eagle.
Ogis made a huge nod to indicate it has understood its role clearly. Of course, who wouldn't? Nile promised to give him some apocalypse berries after all. Ogis even went as far as putting his wings in front of its chest telling how trustworthy he was.
Croco and Maximo could only harrumph at the scene. 'How shameless!' Of course, they are not jealous of the promised apocalypse berries reward.
Nile also gives instructions for the two pets Maximo and Croco. Their party now consists of an assassin, tank, a scout and he considered himself as the team's support. Well, he was also their damage dealer at the same time.
Maximo will continue being his mount. Maximo grinned at this and even made a provocative glance at its two competitors. Croco as their assassin was tasked to follow them from behind or go to their front while hiding his presence as small as possible. It could be said as his training to become the world's best assassin crocodile.
And with that, Nile gave them another berry each to reward them for being good pets by listening to his speech.
After they are done eating, Nile instructs them to get into position. Ogis went up above the trees as the scout, Croco went to the side to blend with the thick grass trying to be as sneaky as possible, Nile hops onto Maximo's back while the carabao started to walk forward towards their destination.
…
A few minutes prior.
The two Pink Faction members, Burge and Damian heard a commotion not too far from them. It was clearly the sound of someone or something fighting.
The two looked at each other and understood what it implied. The Pink Faction Gang had its members stay at the base for their own safety. Due to the killings of the Beheader, they are now sitting at their base doing nothing other than to help the normal members cultivate fruits and other daily necessities while absorbing their gains from their previous zombie hunts aiming to improve their level.
The two of them were the one who was tasked to survey the northern area, and for there to be a fight around there could only mean one thing. It's not one of them.
"It could be hybrids fighting zombies or it could also be hybrid fighting other survivors, which definitely is not one of our group," Burge said as he stared at Damian.
Damian nodded his head in affirmation before speaking, "Or it could also be survivors fighting zombies for apocalypse virus."
Burge nodded his head, "Wanna check it out?"
"Sure, it's along the way anyway, we might even find the Beheader if we are lucky. But we should try to be as discreet as possible. Who knows if it was actually the Blue Wave Faction." Damian replied.
Burge nodded his head and said, "hmm, if it's actually them, then we could use this opportunity to weaken them. If they are fighting with hybrids, we could help them but if they are fighting with a zombie, we might be able to obtain it for ourselves."
A grin surfaces on their face as they think of their perfect plan. It would be best if they could obtain some apocalypse virus for their other members. Even though their leader doesn't act like it, the leader actually cared for the gang's members, especially those who are close to the high members. At least, that's what they have observed so far.
However, what they didn't know was that while they were discussing their perfect plan, the suspect of the fight they heard had already escaped the scene along with his old and new pet.

Ph. D. In Sorcery
Follow Anastasia, the unlucky physicist turned wizard, as her reality gets turned upside down and she is plunged into a world of gods, magic, swords, and adventure. Short and sweet description, anything more would be a spoiler and I detest those. Now, what you can expect from reading: This is my first time writing, or better said allowing someone else to read that mess so don’t raise your expectations too much. Still, I will try to keep the story flowing, while also devoting as much time as I can to editing. In my opinion, the story is written at a faster pace than normal with time skips here and there. I will do my best to not allow the faster pace to ruin the story by using those time skips to raise the skill of the main character. I am mainly looking for feedback while I test myself in new and unexplored waters. I did put a lot of thought into worldbuilding and the magic system, it is something that has been mulling inside my head for years before I sat down to write anything down. First and foremost I am an engineer and not a writer. I will try to do my utmost to make the world logical and consistent, but sometimes I might not express that in a way that’s clearly understood. I have a rough outline with several possible endings, but the story will change and evolve as I do. But in case I have to stop for whatever reason, the story will get an ending. It will be done even if I have to send coded messages from a bunker. I am a big fan of the Dresden Files so you can be certain that everything mentioned will in most cases be used, with a few red herrings sprinkled in the mix. But that also means I will enjoy putting the main character through the meat grinder while I eat popcorn and laugh from my evil lair. Physics, and to be more precise electromagnetism, quantum field theory, general and special relativity are very interesting topics for me that I research in my spare time. That means that the premise of the story will be using that research to bring logic to magic. Stupid I know, magic is magic, but to me, there is no reason why there shouldn’t be a concrete set of rules there. But it is still magic and that allows me to play with some things that shouldn’t normally be possible. I will focus on evolving the main character and having her react as anyone normal would, from my perspective. There will be scenes of battle, gore, and sexy times, but I will not go into too many details, counting on your imagination to fill the gaps. There will be plenty of combat, even battles ranging from a few dozen, a hundred, and thousands of participants. I could go on but there isn’t much to say that would convince anyone to read, either you thought the title was cool or you liked the poster. Or not, but after several days in photoshop, that’s the best I could do. And the title was originally Sorceress with a Ph.D. The new one makes a little less sense but I like the ring of it more for some reason. I just hope someone enjoys what I write as much as I do. In the end that is the reason, I am doing this, because I enjoy putting my thoughts on paper and seeing the outcome. Credit for the art: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/e0o8nw

Pillars Between Us
It started with the dent left by the Forest Sprite; A small crack in the ice that encased his memories. Curtis knew that something was off, realizing that he wasn’t who he thought he was and— perhaps Ellis wasn’t the one meant for him. --It's a fantasy novel set in a world where people inhabit on pillars-- (think of m*necaft sky block, you'll get what I mean) -- then give it a hint of action, mystery and (twisted) romance-- and it's influenced by Japanese fantasy light novels (cuz I read a lot of em'). But I'm sure it's a weird one cuz the style of writing isn't the Japanese to English translated kind of style but rather the orthodox English novel kind of writing (which includes a bunch of errors and broken English thanks to me!). In any case, if you're up for it, just beware the story starts out pretty slow.. I mean-- back then, I was still inexperienced ok! I'm gettin' better along the way, Hmmph!
