Into The Zombie World Chapter 162

Seeing the System prompt inside his head, Nile couldn't help but jump and punch the air in excitement. However, a moment later, he was frozen solid as he suddenly thought of something terrifying.
'Isn't this too good to be true?'
'Wait, haven't they just evolved yesterday? How come they can evolve again after just a day of eating?'
Confusion appeared on his face as he thought of a ridiculous scenario that might happen.
'If this is the case, won't the animals become stronger and surpass those who have evolved first? An evolution after a day...'
'No, it seems only to be the case for my pets. Because if it's not, then I'm afraid those animals escaping from the zombie pets horde previously probably won't be escaping, and will instead fight back.' He thought in defense.
'Hmmph! What's with the System asking permission for my pet's evolution? Isn't that a must already?'
'Well, no need to think about it, let's check who it is that triggered its evolution first!'
No longer thinking of such ridiculous thoughts, he instantly presses the 'Y' button inside his head.
The moment his imaginary hand touched and pushed the 'Y' button, the System prompt vanished, before being replaced by another System prompt.
[Congratulations Host, your pet Croco had triggered its evolution to become a Peak Stage Animal.
Requirements for Evolution: Passed
Reason for the trigger: After experiencing the stress and feelings of death twice in a row for the same day, the crocodile vowed to become stronger and never feel weak again.
It vowed never to be toppled, no matter how strong the enemies are. After eating its fill of innards hence replacing its used energy, the crocodile initiated the Evolution.
It wanted to shed off its weakness.
Don't let thyself feel death again. From now on, let thy enemies feel death instead.

Status: Evolving. Please protect your pet from outside disturbance while evolving.
Failure to do so may result in irreversible consequences.]
He ignored some of the texts first and focused on the one that bothered him.
'Two feelings of death in a row?' Nile knitted his eyebrows as he stared at the line of texts inside his head.
'Where did Croc feel such a thing?' He thought as he tried to remember the events that had happened today.
'I know for sure that it's not from the zombie who they interrupted amidst the evolution, that zombie didn't fight back.'
'It's not the weak level one zombie's either, those were easy prey for him. So the only thing left would be the Level Two° zombie and the Level One° hulking zombie earlier.'
'I recalled that during the fight between Level Two°, Croc didn't suffer any damage, and had escaped intact. Did he feel death during that time?'
'No, not quite, if it's only a 'fright,' then it's more believable than the feelings of death. It should be the Level One° hulking zombie earlier, then. I recalled that it took hold of his arm-blade for more than a few seconds, maybe it was at that time?'
'But where did he experience the second feeling of death?'
Tracing back their experience today again, he couldn't help but knit his eyebrows in confusion.
'Is it from the hybrid? Or something else that I don't know?' He pondered over the bizarre situation.
After a while, he let out a sigh as he just couldn't piece all information regarding the matter. Hence, he decided to leave it at that. As long as Croco evolved successfully, everything will be fine.
'As long as it could help them evolve, why not?'
'Well, the feelings of death? It seems to be a good method for leveling up. Should I also experience something like that?' He suddenly thought.

But a moment later, he hurriedly shook his head and laughed by the absurdity of his own thoughts. 'Pfftt! As if I dare to experience that terrifying thing.'
'As long as there are zombies around, I wouldn't stagnate no matter what.' He said confidently inside his head.
Croco had already started his evolution, like the last time, he didn't know when he would finish. Evolving shouldn't be rushed after all. It needs to follow a process. Baby steps, yep, that's the term for it.
He approached Croco and observed his situation.
Currently, the animal had already closed its eyes peacefully like it was deep in sleep at the corner of the room. Its whole body was shivering lightly as bits of sweat started to form all over it.
Under its huge jaw, a bunch of innards was still present. It seems that he couldn't finish it all before he triggered the evolution.
For a moment, he wanted to pat the animal to encourage it and not fail its evolution. But after thinking of the consequences that his actions might cause due to the pat, he hurriedly retracted his hands and only wished inwardly for his pet to evolve successfully.
Nile then went back and approached Maximo this time.
Like a creep, He clasped his hands and stared at the carabao who was eating almond nuts peacefully. 'You will evolve too after you finish that almond nut, right? Hehehe!'
As if being electrocuted, Maximo's body shivered as he felt something inspecting his body. He alertly looked around only to notice that his master was staring at him with weird eyes.
'Hmmph!'
The carabao let out a harrumph as it hurriedly swept the almond nuts on the floor and huddled them under its chest. As it did so, its eyes never left its master, afraid that he might suddenly snatch the almond nuts away.
Meanwhile, Nile was still smirking with squinted eyes as he stared at the alert Maximo. 'It's alright, it's alright. Eat more so that you can also evolve to Peak Stage.'
'And then after that, you need to eat more and continue to level up towards Level Two°, alright? That way, I will become safer with two Level Two° bodyguards around me. Hehehe' He smiled creepily under the mask thinking of the various good possibilities that might come after his two pets successfully evolved to Level Two animals.
'What will be their form then?'
'Currently, every time they evolved, they would increase their mass and size. Will there come a time when the two of them became as huge as and as tall as skyscrapers? That would be exciting, isn't it?'
'Imagine riding an animal that big. Looking down at the masses while you're at the head of your tallest pet.' He squinted his eyes more as he imagined the scene of him above the clouds, looking down at those pitiful humans who don't have a single mount.
'Their thought and intelligence had also been evolving along with their Stage. Will there also come a time where they can openly share their thoughts with me?'
'Can we communicate without the earrings of loyalty then? That's quite exciting, isn't it? I'm already feeling bored with no one to talk to, well it's that I'm not an expert at that kind of thing either, I just felt that talking to someone could relieve some of my 'stress'. He thought as he recalled his previous life's tragic events.

Of Men and Dragons, Book 1
Book 1 is now available on Kindle, or in paperback/hardcover! You can buy it here! Jack crash-landed on a planet where the natives are seven-foot-tall carnivorous cat-lizards currently somewhere between stone and bronze age. The good news is the natives think the ship that crashed into their mountain is a dragon and are steering clear of it. The bad news is they just left one of their own as a sacrifice to appease the beast. No matter what Jack and his AI co-pilot decide, his life just got a lot more complicated... ATTENTION: This is soft sci-fi rather than hard sci-fi, hence why I chose that tag. For those of you unfamiliar with the distinction, here's what Wikipedia had to say. 1. It explores the "soft" sciences, and especially the social sciences (for example, anthropology, sociology, or psychology), rather than engineering or the "hard" sciences (for example, physics, astronomy, or chemistry). 2. It is not scientifically accurate or plausible; the opposite of hard science fiction. Soft science fiction of either type is often more concerned with character and speculative societies, rather than speculative science or engineering. The term first appeared in the late 1970s and is attributed to Australian literary scholar Peter Nicholls.
