Into The Zombie World Chapter 109

"Quick, give me the medicine!" Sarah said as she herself went out of the room to take the medicine that was still on Gretta.
"But, should we really trust this medicine?" Gretta said while clenching the ibuprofen capsules in her hand. She was hesitant about giving it over, as what Nile had revealed before, the medicine was the cause of the zombie outbreak.
"Then do we have any choice?" Give me that now!" Sarah's eyes were now bulging as she asked for the medicine in Gretta's hand.
Gretta looks over at Gina, she was the smartest of all of them here. At times like this, Gretta felt it was better to gain her approval first.
Gina sighed and nodded her head. "We don't have a choice. If anything bad happens..."
Gina paused for a moment before continuing, "At least we tried."
The mood got sulky as Sarah forcefully opened Gretta's hand. She took the ibuprofen and fed one to Maria.
After a while, the tense atmosphere finally subsided.
Nile felt that it was now appropriate to leave. He was starting to get sleepy as well.
He rubbed Maximo's neck and patted Croco's head who was beside them.
Seeing Nile was about to hop on Maximo's back, Gretta walked towards him and said. "You're going to leave now?"
Nile did not speak and only nodded his head.
"Uhmm... Where are you going? I mean, you can sleep here for a night before leaving tomorrow right?" Gretta said shyly. Just like what had happened when she first saw the 'dependable' and 'helpful' Jacob, she also felt something different about the 'strong' and 'gentleman' Nile.
Jacob had failed her, and now, she felt reluctant in parting ways with Nile.
"No need! I'm in a hurry!" Nile replied blandly.
"I... I see. Wi-will we meet again?" Gina lowered her head, trying her best not to look at Nile.

"Huh? It depends, just hope that the next time we meet, we won't be enemies." Nile said.
He hops onto Maximo's back and holds the reins tightly. As he was about to flick it, he heard Sarah shouting inside the room.
"Her fever is getting worse!" Tears started to form at the corner of her eyes as she stared at Gina who was sitting at the couch. Warya was beside Gina talking non-stop.
Gina shakes her head as she leaned back tiredly. "We already tried!"
There's nothing they could do anymore, they had already tried their best.
Gina closed her eyes and covered it with her arm.
They were helpless.
Maria was having convulsions due to fever. Her face was as red as a tomato. Sarah was beside her clasping her hand tightly as if saying it's alright. Gina was on the other side of the bed, supported by Warya.
Warya finds it strange as she looks around. Doubtfully, she asked, "Ehh? Where's Gretta?"
The two also noticed Gretta's absence. Sarah felt a rage inside her. Their sister was here dying, instead of being here to support Maria at the last moment of her life, Gretta's was nowhere to be seen. She remembered the look Gretta was throwing towards Nile.
She was about to storm out and scold her when Gretta herself emerges at the door in hurry. "Quick feed this to her!"
She extended her hand and a greenish circle object was revealed to them. The green circle was smaller than a marble, it was the same size as a pea. It has a smooth surface and was perfectly round.
The greenish circle object was a medicine given by Nile. He said that it was a cure for Maria's situation.
Nile also revealed to her that Maria was not really sick, but was in the process of transforming into a zombie.

Gretta was startled after hearing that piece of information. She didn't remember about Maria being bitten by a zombie ever since.
She thought it was ridiculous for her to become a zombie without any reason.
Nile realizes her thoughts and tells her that the reason for her transformation was not a zombie bite.
Instead, the real reason for that was, Maria, consumed a dead Apocalypse Virus orally.
Now, she was experiencing the same thing she experienced two months ago.
The intrusion of the Apocalypse Virus to her brain.
Gretta then remembered the words Maria had spoken to her before she got sick.
"Gretta, aren't you afraid that you're still not an evolved?"
"You know, between the five of us, only us two are the non-evolvers."
"Aren't you worried that they might leave us behind if we still can't evolve soon?"
"Gretta, we still can't feel the Apocalypse Virus inside that greenish liquid."
"Say, how about directly drinking them? It will be faster right?"
Gina widened her eyes after realizing that Maria must have really consumed the virus directly. She was about to run inside and warn the other girls when Nile stopped her and handed her medicine, he said that it would be able to cure her.
"Where have you been?" Sarah said angrily.
"Quick or it will be too late," Gretta ignored her and said again.
Sarah only stared at her, she isn't willing to feed that thing to her already dying sister.
Gretta was confused about why they were only staring at her. She was getting listless and when she saw the convulsing Maria, she widened her eyes in shock.
She instantly stormed towards the bed. Worry was apparent on her face. "Hurry!"
Her hand was extended towards Maria's mouth. She was about to feed Maria the medicine herself when her hand was stopped midway by Sarah.
Sarah was already and evolved so it was pretty easy for her to stop Gretta's advances.
Sarah's eyes were streaming with tears, but the rage was still apparent. "What're you trying to do?"
Gretta's face contorted in pain. She gritted her teeth and said, "Med-medicine from Nile!"
Sarah was filled with another rage hearing Gretta speaking Nile's name. She was about to throw Gretta to the ground when her hand was gripped tightly by a rough hand.
She turned her hand and realized that it was Warya.
Warya released Sarah's hand before picking the greenish medicine on Gretta's hand. "Ohh, what's this?"
"Wow, it's so cute!" Warya tossed the medicine into the air.
Gretta saw her and could not help but shout in worry. "Nooo!"
Warya reaches her hand to catch the falling medicine. However, before it reached her palm, it was hit by Warya's thumb.
The pea-sized medicine bounces off her hand and was thrown towards Maria's mouth.
"Oops! Sorry!" Warya smiled widely like an idiot.
Fortunately.
Gretta heaves a sigh of relief. "Water, give her water!"
Sarah pointed her hand to Warya angrily, "Yo-you, what have you done. We're not sure what that is supposed to be medicine made of. What if it hastens her death?"
As no one listened to her, Gretta fetched a glass of water herself from their supplies, and let Maria drink it.
"So-sorry!" Warya while lowering her head.
"What's done is done. We could only wait and see!" Said Gina.
Sarah clicked her tongue as she stomped her feet in anger. She looked at Gretta before looking away with rolling eyes.

Recruit - An Infinite Labyrinth prequel
A prequel to The Infinite Labyrinth. The year is 1816. The British Empire is in full swing, under the auspices of King George III. The Infinite Labyrinth has been pouring out its product from beyond our reality and fostered a new industrial revolution. Times are changing, and the people of London are feeling the winds of the revolution while British Professionals push into the Labyrinth. The newly formed Artefact Hunting Company is looking for recruits, and they have new technology to help them. From the slums of London, they aim to recruit a new wave of Professionals. And make Zacharias and the Earl of Carnavon lots of money. So, for Rowan Rivers and a handful of lucky ones, it's time to head into the Labyrinth, and discover what makes it different from England. And what makes THEM different? Recruit is a bunch of chapters I wrote to create to the setting, mood, and game systems of the Infinite Labyrinth. It is NOT a complete story in the classic sense. It's more of a slice of life view of early days of a normal Professional from the Infinite Labyrinth, and it's heavy on info-dump. It's 90% canon - there's probably a bit of a difference between how some characters and common behaviour are portrayed here and how they'll come out in the main story. Set two years before the events that kick-start the main series, it features some of the secondary/peripheral characters of the Infinite Labyrinth and will tell you all about the basic mechanics of the Labyrinth's RPG system. It can be considered a spoiler, as the characters in the Infinite Labyrinth are going to need to figure out all that, on their own. But if you like a much deeper exposition in the mechanics, here it is. The entire prequel is about 80 pages long.

Art of Mortality
New Synopsis after chapter 56: Long long ago, there was a mortal who despised the gods and envied the immortals. Why do the mortals have to die when the gods wish them to? Why do worlds have to perish when the gods say so? Why do only immortals get to live forever, why not mortals like him? As his family, friends, and his loved one died, he lamented. He wailed, he cried. He cursed the immortals, blasphemed the gods, spat at the heavens. But he was just a mere mortal. His curses were pointless, his blasphemous words were useless, and his spits only returned back to fall on his face. At last, he thought, enough was enough, he would definitely do something about it. He decided that it was time for the multiverse to know what a mortal can do. He was the first mortal to cultivate. Eventually, after a long struggle, he killed the Immortals, enslaved the Gods, and shattered the heavens. He reshaped the multiverse and rewrote his fate. In the end, he reincarnated as he decided upon a grand scheme, a scheme to rule 'All and Always'. He came up with the concept of what is known today as 'Paragon'. And with this, all of reality, 'All and Always', was finally reforming, according to a Mortal's Wish. Synopsis (Old): In the vast and complex multiverse, what can a mortal accomplish? In the grand scheme of things, what can a mortal change? In truth, what is a mortal, and what is mortality? Being mortal is being ordinary, the same as being trash, or so says The World. "No, mortality is an art, and a true mortal is a grand artist. Being the root of all, a mortal can become anything.", says a young mortal boy. Meet Edward Alexander, a mortal boy walking the path against gods and immortals, fighting to the end to rewrite his destiny, and change the grand scheme of things. Can he really change the grand scheme of things? Or maybe he himself is the Grand Schemer? To know the answer, follow Edward Alexnder on his journey to demonstrate the Art of Mortality.*******
