Into The Zombie World Chapter 90

Bruno, confused, gripped Ellie's hair more tightly. "Who?"
Ellie gritted her teeth as she attempted to remove Bruno's hand on her hair. "I... I will tell you, but release me first." Ellie stuttered while her hand was still trying to remove Bruno's hand.
Bruno clicked his tongue in annoyance. If his dagger was not important for him, he might have slapped this bitch in the ground already. Bruno dropped Ellie's hair as her body fell to the ground. She hurriedly stood up and glared at Bruno angrily.
Bruno did not dwindle his time any longer as he spoke in a commanding tone towards Ellie. "Speak!"
Ellie got flustered for a bit because of Bruno's tone. Before she explained everything, though, she proposed her requirement or pay for reporting the matter.
Bruno waved his arm in the air, causing the plump meat in his arm to wiggle. "Say it!" He was infuriated by Ellie's action. This woman is really thick-faced. And it seems that she still did not know the situation she was in. Bruno agreed to her absurd request as he was planning to end this woman's life, anyway.
Her request was 'simple.' She wanted food supplies that could last her for more than a month. Second, she wanted a weapon; she wanted to be the one to kill the mutated carabao accompanying the man she was talking about. Last, she wanted Bruno and the other's to set her free.
Bruno agreed immediately, but deep inside him, he was already formulating a plan on how to kill this woman.
After seeing that Bruno had really agreed, Ellie became happy as she started to recount what had happened. Of course, she altered it to her advantage.
For example, she said that it was Nile who ordered her to infiltrate Bruno's base and take his dagger. She said that while the trio was trying to save her, Nile killed them and even threw some spiteful words towards Bruno. Last, she said that, at the moment, the duo who have been missing on Bruno's search party was confronting Nile and is on the losing end. She keeps on spouting nonsense and lies to make Bruno believe her and loathe Nile.
All of this was because of that carabao.
She was actually going to seduce Nile at that time if Nile came back. However, she noticed the peculiar gaze of the carabao and felt suspicious. When she tries to 'approach' the sleeping crocodile, she will be blocked by that damn carabao. And then, it all dawned to her that Nile was already suspicious about her. This damn carabao was actually tasked to monitor her.

It was then that at that moment, Ellie decided to escape again. However, she was again intercepted by the same carabao. With much reluctance, Ellie tried to throw her dagger towards the crocodile to distract the pursuing carabao. She remembered that the carabao was trying to protect the crocodile, and indeed, the carabao was indeed distracted, so the woman was able to escape.
She was already planning on going to the next village and tried her luck when she saw Bruno and the other's gathering at the entrance of the base. Ellie then formulated a plan to let the two strong men fight each other so that she could harvest the spoils afterward.
After hearing her 'believable' story, Bruno became enraged and immediately formed all of his men to confront that man to show who is the real boss. Although there are also women on his base, Bruno left them and only brought the four women who are closer to him than the others.
...
"That bitch lied." Bruno realizes this, and he was getting more and more infuriated at the woman. Bruno was still not sure if their enemy still has those kinds of bombs that are still working. He waited for a bit longer and decided to step out slowly from the tree's cover to probe if the enemy still had them.
He waited for a minute, but the other side had not fired another one. Bruno nodded and said inside his head. 'As expected, it was the last bomb.'
He waved at his underlings and said, "Continue, that was his last round of bomb."
Bruno ignored the strewn bodies of his women and his underlings that were scattered around as he sauntered towards the direction where the bomb had come from.
Wewissh*
However, Bruno suddenly heard another sound as a bomb was now coming towards them. In a hurry, Bruno took cover again on one of the trees as he shouted while running, "Spread out! Take cover on the trees and houses!"
Bruno's gang had learned from their pal's mistake. After they heard the frantic shout of their leader, they immediately responded. Even before Bruno could arrive at his chosen tree, his group had already ducked to the ground to avoid the shrapnel that might come their way.
Bruno heaves a sigh. Although he did not care about his underling's life, he will still feel regret if all of them died. After all, his investment for them can no longer be repaid in money. Well, it's not that money still had any value today.

Fortunately for them, the explosion this time did not manage to claim a life; however, there were two injured because of the debris flying everywhere.
Bruno then got an idea and shouted. "Let's continue, but this time, make a huge gap between each person."
Bruno noticed that his enemy had only fired when they were clustered together. He assumed that even though the enemy still had more bombs left, the enemy would feel reluctant to just throw it at them while only killing one or even none.
On the other side, Nile heard Bruno's shout clearly, and he could not help but shake his head. He had already expected something like this to happen, so Nile stored the Sniping Slingshot and the box of exploding bullets inside the Storage Space. The box of Exploding Bullet (+) still has eight shots left. As what Bruno had said, Nile would not use them just to kill or injure a single person.
After storing both the weapon and its ammunition, Nile retrieved a small squared shaped device. It was the explosion controller for the mini bomb that he planted earlier.
The mini bomb's explosion range can be reached up to 10 meters if nothing is obstructing it. Using the remote control of the mini bomb, Nile will be able to detonate the bomb within 80 meters away from the mini bomb itself.
The design of the mini bomb's remote control was simple. It was a square shape, had a foldable antenna, and a red dot on the center, which was covered by hard plastic.
Nile calmly waited as he observed Bruno and his gang's procession. That woman was still maintaining a distance of 2-3 meters at Bruno's back. Nile was observing her, and he noticed how sly the woman was. At the second bullet, the moment the woman saw Bruno moving towards the tree, the woman did not wait for Bruno's warning and followed immediately towards the tree to hide.
Bruno's group was now walking while being spread out. They will occasionally try to hide in those enormous tree trunks to avoid getting sniped with a bomb. Although Nile had not fired any more bombs, they were still pretty careful and would take cover on the enormous trees from time to time.

...
Nile counted inside him as he calculated how many people he could kill with only one blast.
The group finally arrived at the area where he planted the mini bomb. However, Nile did not press the red button at the remote control's center yet, as he waited calmly for the right opportunity.
Bruno was now in the lead while he tried to take cover from one tree to another. His group followed behind him, doing the same thing.
The front-liners of the group had already passed the area where Nile had planted the mini bomb. The middle group was leisurely taking cover between trees as they moved forward when a sound of an explosion echoed in their eardrums.
Boom!*
Nile' target was precisely the people in the middle of Bruno's gang. Aside from them slacking off, they were actually more clustered together, compared to the others. Hence the reason why Nile chose them as the target.
Clouds of smoke rose as the people at the front and at the back of the group stared at the middle, where an explosion of 10 meters had just happened. Some people that were close to the explosion range were now actually covered with blood. They did not bathe with their own blood; of course, it was from those people in the middle that got hit by the mini bomb's blood.
That explosion took eight lives in total, and four were injured heavily. With that, Bruno's group was now left with 23 able men that could still fight. Bruno was enraged, and he shouted at the top of his lungs. "SPREAD OUT AND RUN TOWARDS THAT FUCKER! I REFUSED TO BELIEVE THAT HE STILL HAVE THAT MANY EXPLOSIVES REMAINING."
Bruno dashed and ran towards Nile's direction. He took out the other dagger that came with the same origin as the bat's claw.
Bruno's gang followed behind him with savage faces as they spread out to avoid getting killed at the same time. The woman followed behind Bruno silently, but it was clear that she was purposely trying to slow down.
Nile was pretty content after knowing that the bomb, which cost 50 Apocalypse Points, had taken eight lives in total.
Seeing the enraged people coming their way, Nile jumped off from the tree and stood upright at the entrance of the house. Using two of his free hands, Nile unsheathed both the Katana of Liberation and Kriegsmesser of Agony at the same time.
He rested both of his swords on the ground like a cane as he waited for the enraged Bruno and his gang's arrival.

The Last Science [SE]
[SE has the same content as the original story, split into smaller chunks for easier reading. This story is on a temporary hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I work in healthcare and unfortunately no longer have the freetime to continue posting on a regular basis. As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the fading town of Rallsburg stumbles upon an amazing discovery—magic itself. Faced with potentially world-shattering power, the people of Rallsburg keep the secret for themselves. Led by Rachel DuValle, a perpetually underestimated college student with grand ambitions, they seek to found a new society. The world beyond suspects nothing, but magic cannot stay hidden forever. A train arrives in Rallsburg carrying Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate. To him, magic could represent meaning for his life, an explanation for his empty existence. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. This is the "Scraps Edition" of the story, where the chapters have been split up into bite-size chunks (roughly 1500-3000 words), for your convenience. The prose has been edited from its original form, with some improvements, but there are no content differences from the original. New chapters will be posted throughout each week starting on Friday and appearing on multiple days thereafter, depending on the length of the chapter. Content Warning (by request): This series delves into some topics and situations which may be upsetting for some readers. In American rating parlance, the narrative would be rated PG-13 (except for language), but some have noted the story can get pretty dark on occasion.
