Into The Zombie World Chapter 42

The four horsemen knitted their brows when they heard Nile saying babies. Do we have babies here? They glance at each other in confusion. Luckily, Ombit told them what Nile meant by the term 'babies'.
"Guns, idiots." Ombit said in his normal voice.
'At last, so you could still talk normally, eh.' Nile thought.
One of the four horsemen talked in an uncertain tone.
"Uhm, they worked yesterday?" The other three also seconded.
"Yeah, we fired four shots towards you yesterday...."
"That's right."
"Yep!"
Piakk!* Piakk!* Piakk!*
Three resounding slaps echoed in the air. The farthest horsemen felt lucky. He was out of reach of Ombit, Goryo and Polonyo, so he was lucky enough to escape a slap on the back of his head.
"Idiots, of course he knew. He was asking if it's still working right now. If your shotguns are still working right now." Ombit said aggressively.
Ombit felt it was strange though. The guns were still working fine yesterday, right? What could go wrong?
One of the four horsemen aimed his shotgun on the ground beside him and pulled the trigger.
'Sh*t.' all the people around him exclaimed inwardly before jumping back in fright.
Although you pointed it on the ground it's still dangerous alright? What if some shots bounce on the floor huh! Madap*kars..
Crrlickk*!
It was a strange noise. The man felt that it was quite hard pulling the trigger.
Strangely, the 'bang' sound of a gun being fired did not echo.
The man is confused, so he repeatedly clicked the trigger again multiple times only to be met with the same result.
He did not stop until he heard of some gears being disassembled, just like in the movies.
On the muzzle of the shotgun, orange grease could be seen leaking out.
"It's not working! Uhm, I'm innocent?" He exclaimed as his facial expression contorted out of worry. What if the Boss sues him because of this? Oh wait, there are no courts anymore. Well, What if the boss beats him because of this?

Seeing the scene, Ombit beckoned for the other three to try their guns too. And yep, no suspense. All of their guns no longer work.
Orange grease is leaking on the muzzles of their guns. They could hear the gears or the mechanisms inside the shotgun coming off or breaking apart.
After a while, they redirected their attention towards Nile. Nile is the most suspicious one about this event.
They could not help but think.
'Are supernatural powers really true?' Of course, only the four horsemen had thought of this as the other people around them already knew. Well, if mutations are some sort of supernatural powers too, then they would be correct.
Seeing the gaze from the group. Nile smiled and said. "Nope, this has nothing to do with me. Haven't you noticed the rust of metals around you? Well, not all the metals, of course."
Using the flashlights. Ombit, Goryo and Polonyo surveyed the surroundings. Indeed, some, if not all of the metals around them had the sign of rusting.
This is a problem.
'No actually, this might be for the best.' Ombit thought .
Without guns, those who became stronger during this Apocalypse will have another advantage towards others.
Previously, a Level One° Human could still be defeated by a Level Zero° Human with the help of guns. But, now that guns no longer work because of the rust, the 'evolved' humans now only need to worry about the 'evolved' zombies and the other 'evolved' humans.
Come to think of it, Ombit noticed that Nile is definitely stronger than him. Nope, he is way more stronger than all of them combined. In the scale of 10, Nile would score 8 while Ombit would only score a 4. Courage alone, Ombit and the other's could not replicate that.
"How did you do it?" Ombit asked Nile.
Nile knitted his eyebrows in confusion.
'I already told you that has nothing to do with me, right?' Nile thought.

"I mean, how did you become that strong?" Seeing the confusion on Nile's face, Ombit asked again, but more precisely.
Nile smiled and said. "Oh that? Haven't you heard of the radio broadcast?"
On Barangay Malibo, Nile knew that the Broadcast would repeat every day. He doesn't know when the broadcast had started, but it must have already been broadcasted for a while.
Nile has already thought of many different ways on how to answer this kind of question. The broadcast that has been going for a while is the perfect excuse for Nile.
Also in this way, he can provide indirect help if the person asking is not yet an 'evolved'. And if the person asking is already evolved, the moment the person heard the broadcast, he will probably not ask anymore. And, if the person asking already knew of the broadcast, then that would be for the best as they will believe him immediately.
It may look like Nile is overthinking, but based on the Novels he read before. There are those protagonists who are forced to spit out their secret on how they became strong because of some 'tell us how to do it, this is for the betterment of the world' and some, 'contribute to the society' b*llshit.
"Radio Broadcast?" Ombit sounded confused and glanced at his right, left hand men and the four horsemen.
A light bulb seemed to be ignited on one of the four horsemen, as he said. "Ahahh, I knew that. A radio broadcast is like watching a T.V but you could not see the person talk-."
He could not continue his speech as he was smacked by Polonyo on the back of his head.
Ombit shakes his head.
This 'f*cker' just made his hope rise only to end up nothing.
Nile felt amused by that.
'So they haven't heard of it, huh.' Nile thought.
"If you have a radio in the Barangay Hall, you could tune it to 101.40, and you will be able to hear it." Nile said.
"We have a Radio device on the Barangay Hall but it was electrically powered." Polonyo said while he was eyeing the four horsemen. His hands are ready in case this four suddenly speaks nonsense again.
Nile pondered a little bit and said. "I may have seen one radio in the upper floor, but I did not check if it was battery or electric powered."
Ombit nodded his head as he asked Nile if the upper floor was dangerous. Nile answered that the danger is already dead.
"You four, go upstairs and search for a battery-powered radio device." Ombit said. He handed his flashlight, and he also beckoned Polonyo to also hand his flashlight to the four.
"Be careful." Ombit said. He could not trust Nile's word easily. What if he purposely said that there is no danger upstairs, but in fact there is?
"Oh yeah, make sure that the radio device has a battery on it. Search for one if there is none." Remembering the idiocy of his four horsemen, Ombit reminded them.
After the four horsemen left, Nile could not help but said jokingly. "They said that idiocy is contagious. Good luck!"
The three could only shake their heads with that. But on the inside, they are already planning how to avoid the four if necessary.
After a while, the four horsemen came back. With them is the radio device that they found.
No, let me rephrase that.
After a while, the Four Idiotic Horsemen came back. With them are the bulky radio devices that they found.

You'll see a few similarities here between this story and some existing stories, at least initially. There's a lot of inspiration drawn from both MoL and Re:Zero, though in terms of pathos and darkness, this story leans more towards the latter. Be warned, it is something of a slow burn. The main character will grow and become powerful, but a theme of this story is that power comes slowly and often at great cost. Oh, I also forgot to mention that I have taken inspiration from waaaay tooo many novels that I liked, and while there aren't any specific ones that I based this upon there are a few that I definitely took inspiration from like : the author's POV, chronicles of the heavenly demon [you can probably see where this inspired me ;)], etc.
