Into The Zombie World Chapter 14

Nile approaches the zombie slowly like a snail. In order to approach the zombie, he needs to stop from time to time as the zombie would suddenly turn in another direction.
After a few minutes of following the zombie, he was now a few inches away from its back.. As the zombie might turn into another direction again, he did not waste anymore time and swung the butcher knife toward its exposed head.
Nile imagined the outcome to be something like an instant kill, however, he could never be wrong as even with his current strength returning to normal, he was still a human after all.
So, instead of a clean cut on its head, the butcher knife could only penetrate more or less than one fourth of the zombie's head. Seeing this, Nile hurriedly retracts the butcher knife and swung it again to the same location. This time, the butcher knife penetrated another one fourth and it reached the center of the brain where the hibernating Apocalypse Virus was located, thus killing it instantly.
Nile did not have the luxury of time to dip his fingers towards the zombies head as he noticed that at the corner of his eyes, the closest zombie aside from the one he just killed was now heading towards him.
Unexpectedly, Nile did not run, and instead waited for the approaching zombie to close itself towards him.
While the zombie was slowly walking towards him, he raises the butcher knife over his head with his two hands. And just when the zombie reaches one meter away from him, Nile lets the butcher knife descend towards the head of the zombie.
With his strength, coupled with the weight of the butcher knife, the strength of this chop was stronger than the previous before. The butcher knife got embedded deeply on the zombie's forehead with that strike. With that, the hibernating Apocalypse Virus inside the zombie's head got killed, even before it could react.

'Pheww' Nile exhaled the air that he had been holding since earlier.
After the zombie collapsed to the ground like the previous one, he did not immediately relax and surveyed his surroundings to check if the other zombies were also alerted.
Only after confirming that the other zombies are not alerted did Nile relax his tense shoulders. Now, he needs to collect the dead Apocalypse Virus inside the brains of these two zombies he just killed.
Nile then reaches his hand towards the first zombie that he killed. Although reluctant, and disgusted, he still dips his forefinger towards the wound that the butcher knife made earlier.
Feeling the wetness of his finger that is now inside the zombies head, Nile could not help but imagine something different.
After his forefinger reaches a certain depth, a System prompt suddenly appears on his mind.
[Apocalypse Virus harvested.
Converted into 0.5 Apocalypse Points! ]
He then felt a tingling sensation traveling over his body. He thought that this might be the System spreading the Apocalypse Virus on his body to strengthen it.
With experience, Nile did not waste his time any longer and dipped his forefinger again on the head of the second zombie that he had killed.
After feeling the wetness on his finger, he really could not help it but imagine something he should not..
After reaching a certain depth, the System prompt appears again on his head.
[Apocalypse Virus harvested.
Converted into 0.5 Apocalypse Points]
And the tingling sensation repeated again. Nile quite likes this sensation though, it's like what he feels after peeing but this one had a stronger effect.
As the other zombies are on the other side of his house, Nile decided to return to his house first and take a rest for a few minutes.

Inside the house, while resting, Nile opened his status and noticed some changes on it.
[Host: Nile
Level Zero°
Will: 2.9
Body: 1.4
Strength: 1.4
Energy: 1.4(0.8)
Talent: N/A
A.P.: 1.5
L.P.(Level Points): 0]
The first thing he noticed was the increase of 0.4 on his stats like the Will, Body, Strength and Energy. His Apocalypse Point was also now at 1.5 from the previous 0.5.
'I've killed and collected two Apocalypse Virus in total. It looks like after collecting an Apocalypse Virus, my stats will increase by 0.2 and according to the System notification before, 0.5 A.P. was also converted from the dead Apocalypse Virus.'
'System, why is there only 0.2 increase on my status every Apocalypse Virus collected while my Apocalypse Points increased into 0.5? Does that mean that you allocated more Apocalypse Virus towards it? What about my stats then?'
[The Host need not to worry, the System allocated only a portion for the Apocalypse Points. and more towards the Host strength. Although it was true that with more Apocalypse Points, it can make the Host stronger but building the foundation is more important.
Even though only 0.2 was allocated on the stats right now and the Apocalypse Points was 0.5 does not mean that more portions were being converted as Apocalypse Points.
The Host's body could not directly collect all the remaining Apocalypse Virus that the Host had harvested. Hence, the System only distributes the amount that the Host's body could endure.
The remaining Apocalypse Virus, aside from the portion collected to run the System, will then be stored by the System, this Apocalypse Virus that was stored can then be used in the future advancement.
The Host can think of this as some sort of investment but without an interest, in the future, the System will use these stored Apocalypse Virus for the Host to breakthrough into another Level.]
'Alright, thank you for the clarification.'
Nile took a glance at his Status again and noticed that his Energy stat is now back to full. He had now rested enough and he was ready again for another fight.
'Now, let's get back to work!' He smirked as he stared at the remaining zombies around him.

Beneath No Sky: Chronicles of the Atmospheric Sector
After bringing themselves back from the brink of annihilation, humanity's future seemed bleak. However, it's remnants, throwing aside the old order and donning a new mantle of progress aimed to rise above their ancient disputes and go forward as one. Once the Earth reached it's natural limit, and colonies around Terra and Luna had shown promising results, humanity finally decided to make the move to the stars. Believing this to be the start of a new age, they eagerly poured across the solar system and further beyond, greeting what space had to offer with hope and optimism. It was misplaced, however, for humanity's traditional quarrels soon resurfaced and engulfed a now interplanetary empire of many races. As the Earth Empire burned and an intense depression overtook the once optimistic people, some held out hope. They theorized that their problems were born of an inherent sense of home and, in order to rid humanity, now comprising of the Terrans as well as all the other known species of the galaxy, of this burden, decided to move far away from civilized space, into uncharted depths, to start anew. Some 200 years have passed since then, and those hopeful ones have finally found a place to settle on. Firmly planting their flag in paradise, they called this untouched land "Eden" and declared the beginning of a true new age, the age of After Eden.Trouble, however, seemed to still be hounding them, as barely three years after its founding, Eden finds itself at war with a seemingly uncommunicative and uncompromising enemy that far outclasses the odd pirates they were used to facing. A new era of peace, marked by an immediate conflict. Time will tell if Eden, the Grand Experiment, truly is as great as it's supposed to be. ---------------------------------------- This is a sci-fi, character driven, military space drama.
