Rebound: A 2nd Chance Chapter 204

Kyle looked up above him at the measuring pole 'I can do this. I can do this. Just relax and jump like you always do Kyle.'
He took a deep breathe before closing his eyes for a second. Then he bent his knees down before swinging his arms up as he exploded with all the power he could generate.
As his body was rising he opened his eyes. His vision locked on to the marked sticks attached to the pole. He stretched his arm as far out as he could as he reached for the highest point possible.
He smacked the marked sticks back as his body began to descend. His knees bent back down as he absorbed the impact from his jump.
The researcher smiled as he walked to Kyle "Great job Kyle. Now let's see...Huh!? 28.... Standing vertical jump is 28 inches (71.12cm)."
Rudy ran over to Kyle and jumped on his back just like how he did with Danilo "That's what I'm talking about bro!
Hahaha suck it cowboys! Looks like Cali boys are the ones that are built different hahaha!" Jason walked over and patted Kyle on the shoulder "Nice" He then gave Kyle a thumbs up.
Kyle smiled at Jason "Hehe I just tried my best." Over on the side Monty looked like he was about to burst a vein.
"So what you got two dudes that can jump high. They ain't even the best ones on y'all squad. Let's see how high Asian dude can jump."
Jason shrugged his shoulders "I got a name bro. You can call me Jason. And I'll be the first to admit that I ain't no athlete.
But that didn't stop me from whooping your guys' ass last night now did it?" Jason made his way to the vertical measuring pole as he finished his words.
Monty contorted his face as he couldn't think of anything to say back to what Jason had said. There wasn't any fanfare or build up as Jason simply jumped.

He knew his body the best. And even though he had been working like crazy to mold and improve his body for basketball he was still far from being a top class athlete.
As Jason's body reached the apex of his jump he swung his hand toward the marked sticks attached to the vertical measuring pole.
He bent his knees as he landed to absorb the impact and stood back up as Patricia personally went to go take a look at the results.
"Hmm 14 inches (35.56cm) ." She turned around to face Jason "Your standing vertical jump measured out to be 14 inches (35.56cm)."
Jason simply shrugged his shoulders "Well that's that." To others it would seem like Jason wasn't taking the standing vertical test seriously.
This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to impress a company like Nike with his results. But Jason already knew that even if he tried his hardest he would be able to improve his results by an inch at most.
Even with what Jason had said before Monty couldn't help but laugh after seeing his results "Hahaha! What happened bro?
You barely jumped higher than Dough Boy over there. My granmama got a bad hip and even she coulda did better than that hahaha!"
Kyle scrunched up his face as he looked like he was about to walk over to Monty. But Jason just patted him on the shoulder.
"Forget it Kyle. It's not worth it to get into it with people like that. He can't do a damn thing to us on the court so he has to get his shits and giggles in whenever he can."
Kyle took one last look at Monty before taking a deep breathe in and calming down "Yeah, you're right Jaya. it's not worth it."
After getting their standing vertical jumps measured they then measured their vertical jumps with a running start.
Without any surprise it was once again Kyle and Danilo that stood at the top. Jig was a tight third place as he just barely got a lower score than Danilo.

While Jason just barely managed to out perform 3D for the second time.
Monty had an annoyed expression on his face as he had to deal with Rudy's gloating and bragging once more as Jason's group outperformed his group once again.
Monty clenched his teeth "Y'all goin down for reals now. This next part is all bout muscles. For sure we can out lift all y'all."
For the next portion of the physical tests they had the boys lift weights. The dumbbells were all laid out in front of the boys as the researchers asked them to curl the heaviest weight that they could handle.
All of the boys from Texas managed to max out on twenty pounds (9.07kg) except for Mojo and Mike who only managed to curl 15 pounds (6.8kg).
While only Danilo managed to curl twenty pounds (9.07kg). Jason, Kyle, and Alex just barely managed to curl fifteen pounds (6.8kg) Monty was slapping his leg as he laughed.
"Told y'all man. Texas boys grew up on BBQ and cornbread bruh we filled out. Y'all Cali boys probably eating salads and drinkin green juice too much hahaha!"
Jason rolled his eyes "I wouldn't count your chickens so early Monty. We still got one dude left to go." Jason then tilted his head toward 3D.
"Go do your thing 3D." He nodded at Jason before making his way to the dumbbell rack. Everyone's eyes nearly popped out of their heads when they saw 3D pick up a 35 pound dumbbell.
"UGH!" 3D's face started to go red and the veins on his head swelled up as he tried to lift up the massive weight.
The weight began to move up but stopped just as it reached the halfway point. 3D took three quick and deep breathes before going in for one last push "AHHHH!"
As he yelled out the dumbbell moved up until he completed the whole curl. 3D dropped the weight back on to the rack as he then stumbled a bit after finally relaxing his body from all the tension that it had been under.
Rudy ran over and for the first time he actually had a smile on his face as he spoke with 3D "Way to go Tubby!
That was some crazy shit bro. I thought you were about to transform for a second." 3D grabbed a white towel and wiped the sweat off of his forehead before turning to look at Rudy with a confused expression on his face.
"Huh? What the hell. Transform into what?" Jason made his way over and slapped him on the back "Don't worry about 3D.
If there's anything that I've learned from hanging out with Kyle for this long it's that the more you try to think and understand them the more of a headache you'll get."
The rest of the guys made their way over as well. They surrounded 3D and congratulated him while also hyping him up.
On the other side of the room Monty was clenching his fist as he stared daggers at Jason and his group 'You little shits! Y'all celebrate while y'all can. You ain't gon be kekekein for too long.'
Patricia clapped her hands to get the boys attentions "Hello gentlemen. Thank you all for allowing us to collect your data.
I know that this isn't the most exciting part of the camp but it is important that we have proper baselines for all of you so that we can tailor your training to the best of our abilities.
We have some more exercises to go through and more data to collect but you can go ahead and take a small break. You all deserve it.
Go ahead and grab some lunch. You can go out to eat or you can eat the lunch here at Nike. Just make sure that you're back in an hour so that we can continue the training."

Is it a mistake to challenge fate, after all? *** The world-building is set upon on the universal scale, with dungeon and old-style fantasy. It has a progression that follows with the consistency of a dungeon setting, although it's not what you call a dungeon, but a function of a crystal. There's a lot to take in this novel, but that's all within my intention. I have always enjoyed challenging conventional ideas. The cover is not mine, it's just temporary.
