Closed Beta That Only I Played Chapter 118

Faced with the 10,000 elite members of the Daeyu Guild who might be my enemy, one thing dominated my mind. Namely, I felt some lingering regrets because infiltrating Daeyu was the best task I had ever completed.
In particular, the monster herding teams were so efficient that I realized why rich guys personally hired them for their hunting.
Of course, securing a hunting ground suitable for herding monsters was more difficult and important. In addition to a great hunting ground, I even received 500 million golden rings and legendary grade accessories from the Daeyu Group.
Needless to say, the Salimaru Bandits' quest that I received from Monte was the ultimate achievement for me.
Obviously, I approached the Daeyu with the intention of sucking them like a leech, but in good conscience, I felt a bit sorry for them since I had gained so much without giving anything back.
So, I didn't want to fight Chairman Suh and his men as far as possible.
Of course, this wasn't the only reason.
Obviously, the Daeyu Group was still financially affluent and stable.
In other words, I could still siphon a lot of them.
But the crucial reason was that I didn't want to reveal my hidden card of Blink with zero cooldown if I was forced to fight them.
'Hummnm...does Chairman Suh really want to fight me? Or is his desire to fight fifty-fifty?"
Given his expression, I judged that the odds of him giving the order to fight was less than fifty-fifty or almost zero because not only Suh but also his executives were not idiots.
Since they didn't know I had Blink with zero cooldown, they might have concluded that they had a 100% chance of victory if they fought, but there would be few of them who thought they could guarantee another victory in the follow-up fight right after that.
Why? Because they have seen me hunting lots of times, so they clearly knew they needed many players to beat me.
And now there were as many as 10,000 Daeyu's elites here to defeat me.
To be honest, too many guys were fielded here to outpower just one person.

So, I felt Chairman Suh mobilized such a large number simply to make a bluff.
Given Chairman Suh's calculating personality, he might be thinking of the worst scenario where I would voluntarily join the Mirae, Myongjin, Daesung or Kusan to request them to take revenge on Daeyu.
If that really happens, Chairman Suh would face the situation where it would have been much better for him to release me, namely a situation where he did all the work but I got the credit.
As a result, with a somewhat relaxed expression, I quietly waited for Chairman Suh's next words.
"..."
Chairman Suh had no choice but to think deeply when the question he threw at me was returned to him. Of course, he was full of desire to humble Asirante's pride, but he knew he would face more losses than gains if he went through with this.
Moreover, Chairman Suh didn't want to turn to the worst option of getting on Asirante's bad side to vent his anger after having offered him so much until now.
In the end, Chairman Suh opened his mouth with a reluctant smile.
"Hahaha. Never mind. The surprise event I prepared to dine with you seemed to have made you misunderstand me, Asirante."
In the end, Chairman Suh admitted that his last bet had failed.
So, I responded to his admission accordingly in line with his intentions.
"Aha, did you? I think I am not quick-witted enough so I missed your intentions. I'm sorry, Chairman Suh."
"Oh, no. I was so silly."
After that, everything proceeded quite smoothly.
First of all, the 10,000 elites of the Daeyu Group left the hunting ground immediately.
And I entertained a friendly conversation with Chairman Suh as if nothing happened between us.
The next day I went to the same hunting ground as before.
"Asirante, we'll start herding the monsters for you."
"Yes, please."
The four monster herding teams along with Director Jin-young Lee, who always stayed next to me and supported me in the Tombs of the Dead, returned.
"Oh, you have a meeting with Chairman Suh today…"
"Yeah. I know."

It seemed that Chairman Suh didn't discuss everything with me yesterday.
So, in the early morning, he sent a text message for a meeting at noon.
He wanted to see me again at the cafe in the central plaza of Northwood Castle where we always met, not in the real world.
So, I immediately accepted his request since he didn't want to see me in the real world.
Anyway, I once again enjoyed a great hunt thanks to Daeyu's monster herding teams, then logged out, had lunch and accessed the game to move to the cafe in Northwood Castle.
When I stepped into the cafe, Chairman Suh was already there waiting for me.
"Welcome back Asirante!"
"Nice to see you, Mr. Chairman."
I sat down after greeting him who welcomed me with open arms.
I was really curious about his intentions.
Although he and I seemed to let bygones be bygones, we knew well that we showed enmity toward each other yesterday.
So, I felt it funny that we met each other with a smile as if we mended fences overnight and forgot our enmity toward each other.
Anyway, I put the teacup to my lips, expecting what he would say today.
But I couldn't drink the tea, after all, because he said something completely unexpected.
"Asirante, won't you consider visiting China?"
He mentioned China out of the blue. Of course, I knew he was not serious about it.
What he meant was not China in the real world, but the virtual China within 'Revival Legend'.
But I know it is currently impossible to visit there because it has been blocked by what is called a channel, or a kind of wall.
However, I did not reveal any hints of surprise.
After pausing for a moment, I put the teacup back to my lips.
Then Suh continued, not caring about my reaction, "Not only Korea, but the whole world is now crazy about 'Revival Legend'. Of course, America and China are also deeply into it. Well, this is a secret, but let me tell you this. We at Daeyu have already joined hands with China because I couldn't see any possibility of taking over the top position in Korea since we would have to beat the Mirae, Myongjin, Daesung and Kusan Groups. Oh, I know I may be blamed for reaching out to a foreign country, but what's the big deal? Anyway, it's the winner, not the loser, who dictates history."
I looked straight into his eyes, who kept talking to me quickly, to try to figure out his real intentions.
However, unlike the irritation and anger reflected in his eyes yesterday, I could find nothing like that in his eyes today.
Without avoiding my intense stare, he kept talking as if he still had something to say.
"The Chinese company that we joined hands with is called the Yanghwa Group. If you are interested in the Chinese economy, you might have heard of that company because it's one of China's top three business groups. Anyway, the reason why I'm telling you this is because you are also very famous in China. They know very well that you fought on even footing against a boss monster alone for 10 minutes and that you achieved an unrivaled record in the level 300 only arena quest."
"I see. Is there any reason why you are mentioning this to me now?"
I was curious about why he suddenly came up with this offer.
"Would you like to film a movie with me? The stars of this movie are the Yanghwa Group, you and me."
"?"
As if to get even with me for his humiliation yesterday, he mentioned something confusing to me.
"Well, to tell you the truth, I have given up on recruiting you as a Daeyu member. I am really sorry for that. But I don't have the ability to make the impossible a reality like you.
So, let me tell you this. In fact, I can't give you anything anymore, except for the Tombs of the Dead and the monster herding teams. You won't be disappointed because I've given you so much until now."

Outlook: The Stars (Consciousness Unbound Book 1)
The year is 2152. Rune Yahui is a nineteen-year-old failure, not having gained entrance to college or the military, with no significant prospects in life. Even worse, Rune is the poorest of the poor, hailing from the mega-slums of New Southern Chicago, the lowest pit of America. In a desperate last-ditch attempt to gain a future more lustrous than toiling the rest of his days away in abhorrent conditions in one of the near sweat-shop level factories that dot the megapolis, Rune signs up for the Virtual Citizen program, a program to cull the excessive world population by transferring just their brains into a video game. In a stroke of rare luck, Rune is admitted into the program and happily submits himself to the surgery and digitization process. Unfortunately for him, he wakes up several hundred years later than he expected... or does he? **Author's Note** This isn't a type of story typical to RRL. You may have noticed LitRPG in the tags, but it's a relatively minor element in the story until later. You may also notice Slice of Life is in the tags. This story is going to be slow and there won't be any power tripping until way later if at all. The focus will be on character development. That doesn't mean I won't still have action/excitement, however. I encourage you to give the story a try. Maybe it will be your thing, maybe it won't. Thanks for even taking the time to read this, and if you do give my fiction a try, I hope you enjoy it. If you don't, well, I hope you find something that you do enjoy. Happy reading!
